Benihana - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
Just a bad experience overall. Usually we go to Benny in Concord. This time we went to SF.
Chef was the worst
You come to Benny for Chefs tricks
Did a couple in the beginning
But that was it.
Don't waste your $$$
We had Benny employees eat at our table and the waitress only paid attention to them. It was my Birthday to which made it even worse.
This place has gone downhill. I took my daughter for her 16th birthday and it seemed to be the theme of the night. We had a 730 reservation and still had to wait 30 mins. The party before us said they had been waiting for 45 mins. For the price and how busy they are...it was not reflected in the service, cleanliness or food. Everything in the bathroom was broken or out of product. The restaurant was super dirty and the only person who seemed to like their job was the hostess. My only positive comment is it's fun! The cook puts on a show for you. THE FOOD...is not very good and all of us did not feel well after we left. Very heavy on the oil and butter.
I waited 1 hour 15mins before the chef came out to prepare the food and live show. Also it was my birthday, when I tried to use the birthday coupon the waitress told me I would have to send it to the corporate office in order get the $30 off my meal. Which to me made no sense or to the other 4 people st the table who also were celebrating a birthday. I didn't even want the headache o. My birthday so I just didn't bother to ask anyone else about the coupon usage.
Great for our 4 year old! He loved it, very entertaining. He liked the "tricks" as he says, throwing food around is always fun for a little kid. He must enjoy seeing grownups play with their food! Definitely worth a repeat for his birthday or other special occasion. As for the grownups, meh. Food was very salty, buttery, and expensive. Nothing healthy on the menu. Not a place I would normally eat at and certainly not competitive with other dining options nearby.
I have been going to benihanas for my birthday since i was 6. I am 44. This was hands down the worst service I have ever had. The waitress got every order wrong, was never around and completely forgot the birthdays of the 3 of us at the table celebrating. She then mischarged us and took another 30 minutes to figure it out. We were seated late, had to wait for other late group and then blasted with freezing vents while we spent the meal trying to eat through uncleared bowls, plates and glasses while hoping we might ever see our server ever again.
Went for lunch , we normally have gone for dinner. You can tell the difference between lunch and dinner as for dinner I feel like the chefs are more exciting our lunch chef was good just a dab boring. Food was still great had the Mt Fuji to share with my husband that was great.
We sat at our table for an hour and never had anyone come to cook for us. We paid for our sake and went across the street to eat ramen.
The women’s restroom was worse than a bus station bathroom.
The restaurant was dirty and the floors were covered in food and crumbs. Clearly hadn’t been vacuumed in a while.
We came to celebrate our 8 year olds birthday and he loves Benihana as we go quite often. Unfortunately, this time Edward our server was not entertaining as others usually are and we would like you to have the feedback because we always enjoy the experience.
Disappointed with this visit. There was no performance at all-not even the salt shaker! forget the hat tricks, the egg tricks. Our chef didnt even drop a word except when we asked him to drink with us in hopes to get him in a better mood. You dont go to Benihana for food, you go for the show.
The restaurant was delicious however, they seemed a bit undialed when you first walk in. They could not find my reservation but after 20 minutes of waiting figured I must have been the Cathy they had on their reservation since no one else showed up. Then again there was an enormous lag time between the soup/salad and the chef coming over to cook the dinner. Once that part began it was fantastic. Great group dining experience.
For three years in a row, we've gone to Beni Hana for my son's birthday. For the past two years we've experienced this phenomenon where we aren't seated until at least 30 mins after our reservation time. It's incredible -- our entire party is there, but we sit with young children for thirty minutes. This year's reservation was for 4pm -- definitely outside of peak hours. The staff were unapologetic, bordering on rude when they finally did call our name. Food and general experience were fine. However, when we finished the main meal, no one cleared our dishes before they brought out dessert, so dirty dishes were all over the table when we're trying to sing my son happy birthday. Needless to say, not planning on continuing the tradition.
