It always takes forever to get going with our food. We were stressing a little bit because we had our dinner at 5, and needed to be somewhere at 7.. but it was cutting it close since it took about an hour to get our cook and start making our food.
Always good to eat here. My favorite is the stir fried rice. I always return for the stir fried rice.
This is the second time we have said we would never eat there again. Not sure why we tried it yesterday but we did. Very noisy. Waitress was hard to understand. Food was dull and uninteresting. Everything was cooked separately and served separately so by the time the main course, hibachi shrimp, was put on the plate everything was cold! The shrimp were uninteresting to say the least! Some sprouts, pea pods or anything to embellish the shrimp would have been an easy and inexpensive and welcome addition. We will not be back a third time! For the almost ninety bucks this cost us we deserved better.

Had a reservation for 7:35.pm. Got a chef at 8:20pm. Waitress only checked on us 2 times
Covid has hit. The restaurant had a large number of staff call outs. We felt badly for our server and the chef. They had to work far more tables than usual. We had a long wait but our service was very good and the food was great.
The food was amazing! The fried rice was sooo good. My steak was done to perfection as was my chicken, and shrimp. The dipping sauces were so good, they added to the meal instead of detracting from it. Our cook was awesome. He was really knowledgeable about the sauces and told us about how long it took him to become a chef and what he ultimately had to do to pass the test, like cooking for corporate heads and not panic while doing it. Super experience!

The food was very tasty and despite this being an expensive restaurant, it gives you a lot of tasty food for how much you pay! The only downside was that it took them a while to serve us. They may have been busy last night as well. But overall, this was an amazing place to eat!

45 minute wait with a reservation. Short staffed. Chef spent 20 minutes at our table. He cooked everything at once, offered no sauce, other 2 couples left the table before dessert. Disappointing and expensive way to celebrate my sons birthday. We won’t be back.

loved it exceptional food except the fried rice had to much butter in it. The steak and chicken I had was extremely good. The soup and salad was very good. The staff was all friendly and I never had to ask for a drink. The waitress was exceptional.
I was so very happy with the service and quality of the food. Everything tasted amazing!

Took 2 hours for us to be seated and served our food. We got there at 2:10 and didn’t leave till 4:15. They also only validated our parking for 1 hour even though it’s their fault we were there for 2 hours so we got to pay for the extra hour of parking when we left because they took so long. I also ordered a sushi roll at the beginning that didn’t come till after our main food was served

Wonderful and delightful date location. The food was great and the chef was funny and full of character.
The only set back was our server. She did alot of things that made us question if it was her first time. We did tip her and expressed our gratitude but there were long times where we didnt get a refill, plates werent cleared and the people seated with us had a birthday and were hoping for the cheesy birthday song but it never happened. 4/5

I can’t get the food prepared like here anywhere else. It’s not the at table cooking, which is rare, that I refer to, but the flavors, style, and presentation. I like not having to cut my food—true Japanese style. Of course my body likes the American seating and my dexterity appreciates the optional fork.
I couldn’t ask for a finer dining experience!
Our chef was personable and quite skilled.
It was very busy—packed—when we arrived, but they got to us in a reasonable time all the same.
I won’t eat lobster anywhere else.

We were seated 1/2 hour after our reservation time (and then not served for a long time). We were sitting next to the windows. It was so cold that we all had to keep our heavy winter coats on the entire time. There was a large (3 table) party that was very drunk (at lunchtime). They were yelling, chanting, clinking their forks on the cooktop, and generally taking over the area. One of their kids was sitting on the floor, and the parent was literally feeding him spoonfuls of rice while he sat on the floor. For a restaurant with a dress code, they aren’t very concerned about the ambience. It ruined our experience. The servers just brought them more alcohol instead of dealing with the problem. Our experience was not as good as a result.

We were seating fairly promptly (considering the holiday circumstances), our server was delightful and attentive she responded to a need before being asked. The chef did a wonderful job and was very entertaining. It was an overall wonderful experience for us on our first Christmas without our family.

Slightly disappointing. Our chef must of been really new or something - no personality. He cooked our vegtables and Lobster before we ever got out appetizer shrimp, and then did the meat, so the lobster was eaten or cold before we got out steaks. It is sad that they have to have this kind of Chef.
It was a great experience. Friendly staff. Chef was fun to watch and funny. People, come and visit SLC and see what it has to offer.

Love this place! My family and I have been coming here at Christmas for a few years and it’s always such an enjoyable experience. Really great food and a fun atmosphere!
Our chef was really quite and not very inviting. Two orders never arrived and then when we received the bill we let them know that and asked to have them removed from our bill. They brought us the food in to go containers that hadn’t been provided while we were eating. I asked again and had to talk with a manager and then they removed them and apologized.
We made a reservation and still waited and hour to get seated once we sat down no one came and took our drink order. We ended up leaving because the service was awful

It was my first experience here, but it was memorable, I love it.
I reserved. We were seated and helped right away. The chef and staff were very efficient and friendly. The food was beyond outstanding. This place is the best place to go for when you hang out with friends or family.
Crkecrsting my sons birthday and this place is in serious need of remolding. The carpet is beyond filthy and everything is dingy. The bathroom was disgusting!! We waited 30 minutes at the table before anyone even acknowledged us. Our chef was ok but everything was way over cooked and he wouldn’t shut up about a lawsuit having to do with some shrimp!! So disappointed that we choose to visit on a special occasion and walked away feeling like “what in the hell did we just do?!?”

The Benihana in SLC has been on a decline for a little while. Today we dined in and immediately noticed the lack of cleanliness. The carpet I don’t think has been vacuumed since Halloween. The stoves they cook your food on are covered in a thick layer of grease. Our cook cross contaminated our food and combined raw chicken and vegetables for our fried rice. Overall Benihana isn’t cheap and you want the experience to reflect the price. The food is still the same as always but the lack of cleanliness and education on how to prepare food is in serious need of addressing.

“G” the chef is great!!!! “G” is the only reason I’m going back. Even though there was not any YumYum sauce “G” seasoned the food to perfection!!!! Manager was rude and snatched parking ticket out of my hand.
