Benihana - Sacramento Ratings and Reviews
The hostess was messy and unprofessional! She treated me and my guest like dogs she didn't speak and she motioned our attention with her hands. I brought this to attention of the Manager and he was apologetic but didn't offer and discount or free entree. We will not recommend this venue to anyone else as this was our first visit and it was horrible and we drove over an 90 minutes for this type service. NEVER AGAIN!!!
The only thing that was nice about the evening was the Assistant Manager and the African American Chef that cooked the food.
Did not meet reservation time - requested 8pm was not sat until almost 8:30pm. Staff was not attentive, waitress wasn't friendly or inviting - came off as bothered. Table-top was not turned on when we were seated as the host is supposed to do so we then ended up having to wait another 15 minutes AFTER the Chef arrived to start our hibachi experience. Food was not ready for us until after 10pm; one member of our party had to ask for his in a to-go box. It was a birthday occasion and we had to remind staff twice of that.
Chef was amazing - Had great showmanship and made a very inconvenient evening pleasurable with his conversation and personality. Although the table was not prepared for his arrival, he did his best to work quickly but efficiently to get us served as soon as possible. The food tasted great!
While the chef was amazing, I wont be going back! Wish he was at another location!
I had a nice experience for my first time at Benihana's. We went for my birthday, which happened to be on a Sunday this year, and it was poppin'; thus it was busy and loud, both of which aren't bad things. However, because it was a night for birthdays all around, our server forgot a few side dishes and drinks and was a challenge to get the attention of. Nevertheless, our chef for the night put on a show, indeed, and even brought out the steamed rice that the server forgot. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and the food was good, although the fact that I got a ramekin of whipped cream, a cherry, and lit candle for my birthday dessert/treat was HILARIOUS. Thank you
Very disappointed in our experience. We were in our seats for 20 minutes before we had our drinks and literally 40 minutes before we had our soup. The chicken and eggs were extremely over cooked. Burnt egg (from the fried rice) was not an aroma that we appreciated. My steak was very heavily salted. The Chef was not good at managing his time and grill. Way too expensive for what was provided and we will think twice before going back to this location. Also - please put a spring on the ladies restroom door. When I went to it I was slammed by another customer coming out as the door had nothing to stop it from swinging wildly out. Hurt my shoulder to the point I was in tears. Would have told a manager had any made any attempt to talk to my husband or myself.
I have been going to Benihana’s for over 40 years. This was my last time. Everything and I mean everything was lousy. The service, they had 5 chefs on a Friday night at a full capacity restaurant. The guy we had was unimpressive and untrained. He put tons of butter on everything and my salmon was still dry. The place is run down and dirty. The bathrooms looked like gas station bathrooms, very dirty. Extremely slow service due to being under staffed. Small portions of meat. The cooking surface was dirty. Everything looked dirty. Everyone looked rushed and over all I have to say, NO MORE! Good bye Benihana!
Excellent! Went to the Sacramento location on a Saturday night. Made a reservation for 8:30 PM. Arrived at 8:15, sat at the bar to have drinks and before we could even finish them we were being escorted to our table. Our chef was Poli. He was quite entertaining and the food was prepared excellently! The only minor irritation was with our server. There was a small delay in getting my appetizer and he seem to have forgotten a few other things. But overall we had an amazing time!
The wait was long, even we have reservation. After seating, we have to wait for the chef for another 30 minutes...which is not what we wanted. We have to waited a while for us to get drinks...lots of waiting.
The chef talked really low, real hard for us to hear. He looked a bit sad, too. Not as entertaining as last time we went.
However, the food are good though!
I was so disappointed with my recent visit. The food was terrible and the server acknowledged and then ignored my gluten allergy. There chef was in a bad mood and if affected the whole mood of our table. It was not entertaining it was sad. Turned our birthday celebration into an awkward uncomfortable dinner. Spoke with the manager after who apologized and gave me two $20 gift cards but again I couldn’t even eat my food. Over cooked meat. Inappropriate comments about other staff. This place has changed and I’m not impressed. Don’t waste money here.
We've come here a lot over the last 15 years, and this night was disappointing. We tried multiple times over a 6 week period to get the chef's table membership so that we could get a birthday certificate for our daughter, but it never came. This was even after we emailed customer service for assistance. They would not honor that when we came even though we showed the email from customer service. Then we had to wait 45 minutes after our reservation to be seated. They were obviously short handed. They apologized and offered a free sushi bite while we waited. In the end, the food was as good as usual, we still had a good time.
