Benihana - Sacramento Ratings and Reviews
I had reserved a table for my friends birthday and we arrived 15 minutes early with 8 out of the 9 guests. The host said in order to seat us we needed our entire party present, no big deal. We waited another 10 minutes for our last friend to arrive. Once we were all present we told the host and he said that we would have to wait until a table was ready???! We were finally seated 1 hour after our reservation start time and waited another 20 minutes for the cook to start. Food was great but the host was not so great.
Another great birthday spent at our local Benihana's. The colossal shrimp is the best. The fillet mignon is always another one of our favorites. As always, the random couple seated at our table ended up being like old friends by the end of the meal. Awesome experience. A++
We had a terrible experience. I used to come here weekly because the food was amazing and so was the service. I stopped coming for the last 6 months. My first time back, with reservations for 6:15pm and they never sat us. We waited until 7:15pm, after they sat 6:30pm and later reservations but they kept telling us we were next. The 2 younger female hostesses were rude, annoyed at customers and had THE WORST customer service I’ve ever experienced. The manager gave us a free appetizer but then said “sorry, you just have to wait. We are just busy and a reservation only means you will get a table at some point tonight”. I couldn’t believe it. They were begin by at least an hour for everyone. They couldn’t manage the situation and the staff was extremely rude. The hostesses laughed when we left and one gave me a thumbs up. Disgusting. I work for a large public agency in the fair oaks/citrus heights area and will be spreading the word to my many friends and family to avoid this location. Spend your money where they appreciate you. The only part about this location that is great is the Bartender Janice. She rules.
Disappointed this time. Our Thursday 5:45 reservation turned into a 6:30 seating. They way over booked. The waiting area was packed inside and out. When we looked into the grilling areas 4 tables were set but unused.??? After dining I looked over yelp reviews and this seems to be a recurring problem. Will give them another try in a few months
We had a reservation for 5:30 for 6 people, that we made a week prior. We arrived 15 mins early and were not seated until 6:30, and no chef to cook until 7:30...it was a very unhappy experience . There were 3 chefs to service the entire restaurant—like 12 tables.... it was freezing cold, seated near front door. We had to wear our coats while eating. The food was not up to the usual Benihana expected taste and flavor. We did not fuss or complain but weren’t offered anything extra for this terrible ordeal either. We won’t be making any more trips to this restaurant in the future. We will find a new hibachi place to dine at.
Restaurant did not meet the standards of others we have visited in other cities. Cook was not as energetic as others, and failed to get diners involved. Too noisy, and we were seated by the door where large numbers of diners were waiting to be seated and invaded our "space". Reservation was made to celebrate a birthday, and there was no recognition of same. Birthday was checked on reservation site. Other Benihanas recognized birthdays with pictures and singing. Altogether, not a good experience.
We booked the reservation for 7pm, and did not end up eating there because Benihana could not accommodate the reservation. When we checked in around 645pm, we were told we wouldn't be seated for at least 45 minutes to 1 hour later. Others who had reservations were waiting longer as well. There were empty tables. We were not told they were short - staffed, or what the delay reason was. I was there to use a birthday coupon, and the hostess refused to extend it to another time. She stated "well, we will accept it if you come in within the next week" but she refused to write that extension on the coupon itself. My family really likes the food at Benihana, but overtime we make a reservation, we always have to wait longer...in this case, it was too long and ridiculous to ask people who booked ahead to wait an additional hour. The restaurant didn't seem too apologetic about it, and didn't seem interested in ensuring we would come back.....
This is the smallest and oldest Benihana location. The service was really friendly, however I was so grossed out by the location when I arrived. If it wasn’t for the fact we were meeting people, we would’ve left. It is in a old strip mall, very tiny, b team. Staff did their best and was nice but the atmosphere was so old and felt so dirty bc of that.
Went to Benihana's for my husband's birthday which I noted on the reservation online. When we got there, our waiter asked if there was a special occasion and I said yes, it was my husband's birthday. They never celebrated it like they did for the other people that night. Our chef was great and the food was great as usual and we had a good time with the other people at our table. The mixed drinks (cocktails) were way too expensive and watered down way too much! Other than that, we enjoyed ourselves.
Bad experience will never go again. Service was bad. The chief sucked. She seemed new and boring took us almost 3 hours to eat she was soooooo slow. Went to celebrate my husband's birthday and they did not want to validate a certificate i had because we went on jan 1st new years.... Waitress had a really bad attitude should of complained but had enough.Ummm its his birthday on jan 1st why should he get punished for it being his birthday on new years. Your guys rules suck corporate should make an exception if people have birthdays on a holiday he should have 2 take a day off to use it another day. He took his birthday off on new years to make it here becuase he work nights. Plus the cerfiticate is not even valid on weekends nor lunch so stupid cause which other day would he use it. The only thing they did was take 20.00 off and took my certificate. I should have just took him 2 dennys he would of got a really good breakfast meal free on new years his birthday. Will never recommend your resturant and if people ask i will say do not go not worth it. Thanks
Had a great evening with the family enjoying delicious food & fun entertainment! Our family's first experience at Benihana's & we'll definitely go back. Our chef, Guerillmo was awesome & accommodated my food allergy at the last minute very easily, which I'm truly grateful for. The kids loves it & had SO much fun.
Had a reservation for 7:45, I can understand running a little late on the seating...but it took 45 minutes to seat us with a reservation, by 8:30 I was hoping to be eating, not just finally sitting down. It wasn't another 15 minutes until we saw a server and got our orders placed. Where we were sitting had a draft and was absolutely freezing, we had to put on our coats back on to stay warm. Our cook, while although very friendly, seemed to be very inexperienced. I've been to Benihanas all over California, this cook by far was the slopiest and the slowest cook I've ever had. He cut up the shrimp tails off and set them to the side, he got distracted and looked over at something, and without noticing tossed together the shrimp and the tails and gave everyone a nice serving of shrimps tails mixed in with their food. The food was pretty decent as always though, but the service was so bad I honestly would have asked for my money back, but I don't like doing that, so I usually just stop going to the place that caused problems for me. We ended getting out the door at 10:15, an almost three hour ordeal, topped with the bad service hasn't made me to eager to go back anytime soon
Made 5:45pm reservations and finally got seated by 6:25 and sat another 45 minutes at our table before we got a chief. It was are worse experience in a long time. The manager didn’t drop by to let us know what was happening until we started to complain.. We finally were able to pay and leave at 8:30. We understand that things happen but this was unbelievable a long time to wait for dinner, it was my birthday dinner and that was the only reason we didn’t get up and leave.. ☹️
We Made a reservation for 5:45. I got a call at 4:30 telling me they were running 30 to 45 minutes behind. We arrived around 6:00 and were not seated until 6:30. It looked like there were only 6 chefs for 12 tables.
We got salads and basics, but it wasn't until 7:30 that we actually had a chef come to the table (now around 1:45 after our reservation time and an hour after being seated). The chef told us there were no prep chefs as they all called in sick.
I'm not sure how I would have fixed this, but I felt like the staff were trying their best. The food was ok, but rushed.
Definitely not the best experience and is making me question if I want to go back any more (we come every year at least twice).
Great experience. The only glitch was the 40 minute wait for the chef and food. Apparently, 2 staff called in sick. We ate our soup and salad then waited and waited. Chef was awesome and fun. The food was amazing. I was not expecting a 2 hour experience from sit down to eating the food.
This was once our go to - not only for the ambiance and a relaxing lunch - but also for special occasions - This last time we walked out - you know the saying three strikes you are out - I made my reservations days in advance - I verified my reservations that morning over the phone. We arrived 15 minutes early so we could grab a drink and await the rest of our party. We checked in and were told to notify them as soon as everyone had arrived. AFTER everyone was there, on time mind you, they proceeded to inform us that there would be a half hour delay as they had been short ALL day a chef - okay I was upset but we could wait - a half hour later we were informed it would be another 30-45 minutes before we could be seated - NO- we left - this is not the first time they have had trouble accommodating reservations in a timely manner. There are plenty of other places close that will honor their reservations and their food and service is of equal if not better value
This was Christmas day and they were a little overwhelmed. One of the Chefs evidently called in sick so they were behind in the scheduled reservations. The staff was friendly, the chef was excellent and the food was also excellent. Everyone seemed to make the most of a bad situation. This was our 3rd Christmas dinner there.
