Benihana - Sacramento Ratings and Reviews
Food was great as always, they trouble seating us in a timely fashion. They didn’t take into concretaration that would need tables chefs to cook the take out orders we had to wait 25 minuets because there wasn’t enough chefs for the floor. Very poor planning
Server did not pay attn to our empty beverage glasses. Server made comment to chef that shouldn’t have been said out loud for us to hear. We didn’t get our tea from our order. I had to ask for our desserts from order. It was my birthday and didn’t feel we were important since we had the last reservation spot of evening. No one offered to take our picture as done in prior year.... came for bday 2 or 3 yrs prior. It just felt like we weren’t important . It was only 2 of us at table at end of evening.
we were seated 25 mins. later than reservation time. Service was very attentive, but very slow. I enjoy a relaxed dining experience, but this was very slow. Chef was competent, but veggies, rice and entree were served way too far apart. Seafood dishes were great, beef was very tough. Very crowded, very loud. Will not go back.
Horrible experience, as to non-honoring my birthday certificate, and the non-issuance of an entitled birthday certificate for my wife.
The problem is Chef's Table... the certificate I received would not scan properly, and after 3 weeks of correspondence, my wife did not receive her certificate..... very poor customer relations at the restaurant in a response of how to handle the certificate problem.
They were understaffed so we were seated 30 mins past our reservation time. The staff was very courteous and attentive though. Our waiter was great, very friendly and helpful. Food from the kitchen came very quickly (apps, soups, and sushi) which was great since one member of our party had to leave early to go to work. She was able to get her food and eat it all in time to get to work. Our chef Poli was the best! He was really fun and entertaining. We had a great time. The main downsides were that it was Superbowl Sunday so a lot of people were crowded around the TV. Also The table behind us was obnoxiously loud, making it hard to hear our waiter who was right in front of us. The photo we took home was a nice touch, but it was awkwardly framed. Maybe it was a bad angle? I didn't bother to ask for it to be retaken since it wasn't that important. The food was amazing and we had a wonderful experience
The Benihana I've been to in the past had much nicer decor and ambiance. The service was good and the chef tried hard but he was obviously new and not that skilled. The shrimp and scallops were over cooked and rubbery. I was very disappointed as I was bringing someone for a birthday celebration who had never been to Benihana.
We’ve been here many times for birthdays as it’s fun for kids to watch food prep. Our waiter & chef were bland—- our chef hardly said two words and his ginger nails were filthy. It wasn’t enjoyable to watch him prep with dirty hands. Overall place seems more run down, staff is a bit unprofessional in appearance. It wasn’t as it used to be. From now own We’ll head out to other hibachi places when we want that experience.
Manager was accommodating to our request of no children seated with us. Waitress was good but lacked confidence. We waited over an hour at table for cooking show to start. Very long wait! Then when our cook came out he was mad and unfriendly. Lacked “show”. Very disappointing. Other tables laughed and had fun. Our bill was very pricey and would have been fine except the lack of fun:( never going back.
Food and staff have always been good, but the location keeps it from being the best it could be. Chairs are worn, walls are dinged up - it's just worn out. Being in a strip mall with an empty next door tenant doesn't add anything either. I would come more often if the facilities were nicer.
Came to have lunch with my family and had a great experience. Every time I've come here I've always had a great experience. If you're looking for something different than your traditional dining experience come here. The chef was great and had my children entertained while keeping the adults also engage. Hands down I will always come back to benihana's.
Made a reservation and was there on time and was not seated for 30 minutes after my time then our server was very slow and the chef messed up on a order and had to make more rice
Was not my best experience there a bit disappointed because it was for a birthday .
Still will go back , I love the food there .
It was my sons 21st Birthday. We had a reservation for 7:15. The birthday boy was running behind he arrived at 7:30. It would seem that we lost our table. We had to wait until 8:30. Yes probably our fault. The waiter was ok. He served our soup and salad. Then we had to wait another hour before the chef got to our table. We did not finish the dinner until 10:pm. The food was not as good as I remember and the chefs skills were novice at best. Other tables were getting photos taken, we were never asked. Overall I was disappointed.
Terrible experience! My first time and I won’t go back. Made reservation but didn’t get seated for at least 45 min’s after... bathrooms were not only out of toilet paper but out of paper towels... I couldn’t even wipe myself! Once we finally got seated it took another at least 30 min’s to finally start getting food served. Only once was I offered a refill on my tea which had sat there empty for 20+ min’s. Other party at our table was favored for sure... proportions.. ummm I got 5, yes 5 shrimp when the other party were given a pile and then the chef gave them the ones left after distributing to us. The shrimp had to be returned because one of the the other party didn’t approve of them not being deveined.... Wait! As expensive of a place as this is.. shouldn’t they have come already deveined?! I mean really... this is a place that cost me 35 dollars for 2 drinks, over 200 dollars for 3 people... Totally dissapointed!
It was my mom’s 72 birthday and, as we do every year, we wanted to use her birthday coupon to enjoy dinner. Early in the evening the waiter informed us that there might be a problem with the coupon my mom presented, but gave no further details and said the manager would come and talk to us. After dinner, before being presented with the bill, the manager came over to tell us that there was a problem with the bar code on the coupon being invalid. He implied that the coupon had been used already (which it had not) and that my mom was trying to use it a second time. My mom insisted that it had not been used. She showed the manager that the expiration date was not until the 31st, that it was printed on the 3rd (mom’s birthday) and reminded him that when coupons are presented, they are kept by the restaurant so that they cannot he used again. After some back and forth between my mom and the manager, we asked for the bill without the applied coupon. A few minutes later, a friend in our party went to talk to the manager and came back to tell us that coupon would be applied.
At no time was the manager “rude” to us. He remained professional at all times however, his unwillingness to allow my mom to use the coupon was surprising, while his implication that my 72 year old mother would attempt to scam the restaurant was shocking. We were at a table with other patrons, close to another table full of patrons, and were totally embarrassed by the entire interaction.
My family has dined at this restaurant multiple times a year, for over 10 years and we have never had such a horrible experience. Totally embarrassing and unacceptable.
I have been to this Benihana restaurant a few times and it was great and fun back then. Now, I notice that they have hire a lot of new chefs that have no experiences or not very well trained. I came there not for myself, but for my kids that like to see the chef does some show with the dancing utensils and other tricks. This time, less actions and not very well skills that was shown at the table. The chef was nice but for the kind of price and the tradition, it was bad. I probably won't come there again but hope things or the management would change for the better.
We had an hour and a half wait with reservations....not good. The Chef “Lilly” was not very good. She either over cooked or under cooked the food and did not prepare my steak the right way and tried to tell me she “thought” it different. Unacceptable. She didn’t make enough rice for those who wanted it, so me and my mother (who are pretty easy going) offered to take less even though we were celebrating our birthdays. Food was great of course...but I may not be back for my daughter and husband’s birthday even though we usually go.
I had reserved a table for my friends birthday and we arrived 15 minutes early with 8 out of the 9 guests. The host said in order to seat us we needed our entire party present, no big deal. We waited another 10 minutes for our last friend to arrive. Once we were all present we told the host and he said that we would have to wait until a table was ready???! We were finally seated 1 hour after our reservation start time and waited another 20 minutes for the cook to start. Food was great but the host was not so great.
