The filet and the rice with vegetables were good, but way too much butter AND oil were added to the food. It was unnecessary to add butter at the end, when the food did not need it.
Our dumplings were tasteless. The soup was way too salty. My ankles swelled from it.
I liked the atmosphere, but you could use some muffling of the sound level. We were at the far end of the room from two groups and we could hear every word.
The "chef" was very nice and wanted to please. Mandy was very attentive and sweet.
Perfect place to go for a special occasion. Great food and great service.
I was most impressed with the hibachi chef during our visit. Not only did the chef give a great hibachi show, he customized entrees for the entire table. There were some abnormal requests (at least from my experience at different hibachi grills) including no vegetables in the fried rice for one individual, add shrimp to the fried rice for one individual, and cook and plate an entire to go meal to name a few. He executed all requests and cooked the meal perfectly.
Our cook was super nice and fun to talk to!!
Our server, Samantha, was great. Our chef was very entertaining and personable, he interacted fantastically with the kids. As always the food was good, albeit a bit in consistent. I do find the price a bit high, and everytime we come I feel like it is higher. If the kids didnt enjoy it so much, i would probably find somewhere else to celebrate their accomplishments.
I have dine here to many times to count. Our cook was the rudest we ever had. He listen to nothing we said. My daughter asked for double shrimp sauce he gave her one of each. Mixed up how we wanted our steaks cooked. Literally did not pay attention to us at all. Was focused on the other party at the table. Very very rude!!!
Went for mom’s bday, and had a couple kids with us in our group of 7.
I thought the energy level and effort of the server was pretty low. Felt like she was going through the motions, doing the minimum with answering questions and paying attention to us. I’ve had better experiences at other hibachi grills. I’d say this place is going downhill based on the overall leadership of the restaurant that I observed. I could easily make a list of 10 things to improve from the first 10 mins I was there. But that what I do for a living, so my brain is wired to look for opportunities.
The manager did come over and take pics of our group without us even asking— I thought that was great. Funny- It was clear he didn’t really know how to hold still while taking a photo, so it was fun for all of us to experience as we got the blurry photo print from him. Such a nice gesture - it made the end fun for us.
I loved their $30 birthday coupon- food was really good (perhaps less salad dressing, and a bit less salt in it?) meat was grilled to my specifications, veggies were delicious, shrimp was delicious and cooked perfectly too, onion soup broth a bit too salty too?
They did everything to make our young child feel special went early food was great service was even better.
Good tome and food as usual. Location was a bit out of th way. 22 minutes from downtown
One of the original hibachi locations in Pittsburgh, the area isnt as nice, the lot is in bad shape and the location is odd next to some run down apartmemts, but the food was good. Better than most honestly, and unique. Mom was a great chef and much fun to watch. Again, very happy with the food.
The tables are smaller than most hibachi places meaning you will be tight if they are busy but on a nice friday evening they were not even half full so , likely this wont be an issue.
The prices were a bit high though honestly in comparison to most hibachi restaurants but again the food was good.
come to benihana's a couple of times each year for birthday celebrations. Food is good, plentiful, and a good value. Chef's are usually very entertaining and overall it is very enjoyable.
We had a wonderful dinner. Our waiter, Jeff, went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time and our chef Leo was awesome!!
Waited for over an hour for the chef to come out and didn’t get any apology from the manager
Nice dinner with family for birthday. A little pricey for regular dinner - although I am frugal.
The quality of the food was unusually low. Chef was awesome but everything tasted awful. I was very displeased.
Overall it was a great dining experience. At first the other people we were sitting with had their daughters boyfriend that seemed to have a problem sitting next to us. other than that we ignored them and enjoyed our meal.
The food and our server were great, but the restaurant as a whole needs spruced up. The table next to us sat covered in dirty dishes the entire time we dined. (Who wants to look at that while eating?!?) Food all other the floors, quite noticeably a shrimp tail on the baseboard and 1/3 of a lemon by my feet. We were seated around 8:40, but around 9:15 we started hear yelling coming from the kitchen it continued until we left. So although our server was really nice and attentive and the food was great it was only an okay experience.
The cook (Tito) was amazing!!
The food & service is always great at Benihana...the pricing is a little high put for the portion & the delicious food makes up for it.
I have been dining here for years and never been disappointed. They give plenty of delicious food and we love to watch the cook!
Came here for my birthday and had a great time. I didn't sit at the hibachi table but still received the same food at a private table. The hibachi chicken was delicious and they cooked it according to my dietary needs. The portion was small for the price paid. I would have liked to see more veggies and chicken rice for the upgrade.
My grandchildren enjoy eating and viewing the cooking spectacular. However I find the restaurant needs updated. The floors were very dirty. Since I did not use the restroom I cannot comment on this. However if I would have I probably would have left.
Our cook, Harry, has only been with Benihana for a short period of time, but we have to say, he was the absolute best we have had the pleasure of dining with. My husband ordered tuna steak and it was cooked to perfection - my shrimp and chicken were outstanding also. He gave us a taste of steak - medium rare - and I have to say, it was delicious. I've been missing so much by ordering steak well done!! Overall, a fine dining experience - we go to Benihana 3 to 4 times a year. From now on, we will be requesting Harry as our cook.
It was my ladies b day I took her there she never been. She enjoyed herself and plus she enjoyed the food. We will Def b back.
Waitress was a little off tonight,, no one asked if we were celebrating anything special which we were,, so didn’t get a pic like we normally do,
The food is always amazing and really hits the spot. I usually go for a trio so,i can get a bit of everything. Always upgrade to the fried rice!
Tasty as always. Chef was personable and server was more than accomadating.
I remember when Benihana was Samurai. The transition from relatively local ownership to corporate ownership is very apparent at Benihana Green Tree. Only a tiny number of the original Samurai employees are left there, and they remain outstanding. What they can't make up for is the continual tightening down of the corporate nuts. Samurai was a human-based operation. I'm sure it wasn't heaven to work there - no restaurant can be, but it was a human operation, and this came through to the guests. We developed long-standing friendships among hard-working employees. Now, food quality is diminished - who knows why? - options are fewer - who knows why? The _feeling_ is gone... and well, I'm sure you get it. So?
Been going here for years. But for years my question is why does everyone I know get the runs after Benihana? Is it because the “shrimp” sauce is not refrigerated?
Love this place good a cleaning out...,lol
Chef was pretty dry - no sense of humor and very matter of fact which as he was cooking dinner which is unusual for a restaurant like this. Food was really good, waitress service was slow.
The chef was horrible. He was giving certain guest more than what they paid . He took my some of my steak and gave it to another guest and expected m to pay for it. When I complained the manager had him make me another steak and took the steak I had on my plate and put it in the garbage and then gave me back the plate : I told them to keep it paid for my appetizers and left . I have never heard of this.... the customer is always right even when wrong and o was not wrong. This Pittsburgh location is the worse in customer service I would not recommend it or go back....
Great food had a great time for a special Birthday will definitely return
Leo, our chef was awesome and our waitress was great too!
As always our visit to Benihana was great. Food was perfect, kids loved it
As I indicated in my evaluation, the service, food, and showmanship of the chef was excellent.
Everything was great as usual...we've been coming to this location for over 20 years and love coming back!
I have been here many times, my most recent experience was less than expected. After being seated we waited longer than usual for our chef. He did apologize for the wait. Once he started cooking he forgot water for his towel, then he forgot the mushrooms and another item for one of the diners. He kept joking, but he was not on his game. Then he was preparing spicy chicken for another diner and he forgot the spicy sauce. It was not an enjoyable evening.
Wonderful food, fun staff, friendly atmosphere, plenty of menu choices
Awesome as always! Tyson is thee best Hibachi chef!
