We had an 8 pm reservation, got seated a little early, then sat for an HOUR before the chef arrived. He mentioned as he got there that the had let too many chef's leave early. I look forward to going here once a year for my birthday and enjoying a bottle of Nigori sake with my meal. Last year they were out. This year I received a glass that was supposedly 375 ml of Nigori Sake served in a highball glass! When I asked about a bottle the waitress had no clue and after about 1/2 an hour she returned and asked if I wanted a bottle instead. I had taken one sip from the glass and it tasted like pure alcohol, so they have switched to some cheap domestic version, and it was HORRIBLE! I sent it back and just drank water with my meal. When our check arrived we were told that due to the delay time waiting for the chef the manager had given us a small discount When I looked at the check the Sake was still on there, along with a $32 discount. When I asked about the Sake still being on the check she said part of the discount on the check was the Sake, meaning the small discount for the delay was small, only $16. I think next year when I get my birthday certificate, I will ignore the $30 certificate and go have my birthday dinner at a better restaurant. That certificate used to cover almost the whole meal for me, now it's only about 1/2, the service has gone downhill and the items they are buying to serve are getting cheap quality wise. Good bye Benihana!

30 minutes after our reservation time there were still two groups ahead of us waiting. Apparently that is not uncommon. The staff also shared that they were low on ingredients. Tough showing for a Saturday night.

Our soups were cold and we never received our appetizers we ordered. The chef didn’t really attempt to engage us and just cooked to the and left. I will say its the shortest time I’ve ever spent eating here.

Our reservation was at 7:15, we didn’t get seated until 7:55 then we had to wait 20 minutes at the table for the waitress to take our drink order. There was food everyone on the floor and it was sticky.

Benihana Ontario had great portions better than most. Chef Wayne is totally professional, funny and made sure everyone at our communal table was happy with their dinner. Great cook, very enjoyable.

Let’s just say none of the workers seemed to not want to be there. Presentation was poor, and lots of up charge on items. One I saw on menu was chicken dinner was $42 and if you don’t want it dry it’s $3 more for teriyaki sauce. 😂 The place is not like it used to be. Sad…
