A little disappointed that they don’t take Birthday photos anymore. We had to flag the waitress down (who was not very cheerful or energetic) and ask her to take our pic for my daughter’s bday.

They gave us a chef who couldn't do any of the usual show, messed up the order multiple times, dropped the knife, dropped the shrimps, and very messy on the cooking. The server never came to refill the water. And at the end of the meal, he asked the table, "How was the show guys?"

Our server was all over the place and at times disappeared for long periods of time! He seemed very flustered and overwhelmed, which didn’t make the most pleasant experience for us! Also, the food wasn’t as flavorful as it usually is when we go.

Benihana, NB is my favorite restaurant. The food is always super delicious, and the service is wonderful. I always have leftovers to enjoy my fantastic meal again. Shean was an amazing chef, and Dylan was an amazing server.

We have always loved this restaurant but last night the cook did the entire dinner out of sequence. I got my entree first (steak) , the rest of the party waited. The rice came and the the vegetated with the shrimp appetizer last. Then the two other people in our party got their lobster. It was so disappointing. The food was good but my meat was cold by the time everything else came.

We love Benihana and go about 2-3 times a year. At the Newport location, we were sat in a room of tables that had very bright lights. We asked our server and ultimately the manager if they could dim the lights. It looked like we were in a hospital with such bright lights. The manager said there was nothing he could do about the lighting in that room. All other rooms in the restaurant had a low light that was not so offensive

They have a nice food show and good service. The place is fun and is suitable for birthdays and taking out of town guests. As exciting as it is to see the food prepared at your table by an expert Japanese chef, unfortunately, I didn’t think the food was all that tasty. Not a good value either.

We have gone to Benihana's every year at the end of summer to celebrate my two daughters ! This last time we went the food was just exceptional. The filet mignon was fantastic and so was the chicken! We got in right away and were seated at a wonderful table! We were lucky enough to not only have great servers but also to get chief Patrick to prepare our food and entertain us the whole night! Benihana's is always crowded because everyone knows it's just always a wonderful evening!

Birthday dinner. Chef was not as engaging as my previous 40+ visits. Normally they put lobster back in shell after they cook it for nice presentation but not Andy our chef. Food was great but entertainment value was lacking. Normally they take your picture with your birthday ice cream and candle. Photographer wanted to take picture of two of us without ice cream candle. I had to tell him that is not how it works. It looked liked they weren't even going to sing happy birthday until I said something. If standards have changed, then my expectations will need to change. Again, food was great but I could have ordered delivery if entertainment wasn't going to be provided which is the main reason I come.

We celebrate all our family birthdays here and about a year ago were disappointed with the service. Assuming had to do with staff shortage as a result of Covid. But… the last few times the friendly, quick service has been back! We are thrilled and will continue to make Benihana our birthday tradition 🔥🎉

Absolutely terrible experience. Our reservation was at 12:15. We didn’t order food until 1:15. The service was dreadful and our waiter could not get anything right. Manager was also rude when we asked him what was going on with the delay and bad service.

The experience was fun and tasty. All of our expectations were met. Cooking was good and the chef showed us our first "rice dog" which he called a "hot dog", ha ha. Green tea ice cream finished off our experience and they gave us a free pic of our group. We will be back

The staff is very attentive and the food always great. They've really bounced back from the CV period which was hard on all establishments. Also it doesn't appear their prices have taken the 30-50% hike I've seen so many other restaurants.

We had a family dinner here for my birthday by my 12 yr old daughter's request since she loves Asian food and was excited to see the "fire onion volcano". The restaurant was busy but we were seated within 10 mins of our reservation. We ordered two 5 course meals and a kids Hibachi Chicken. Our chef, had some pretty good skills with the kitchen utensils and did the same show we've seen everytime we come here, but the skill he lacked was common courtesy and respect toward our child. There were a few kids at the table but for some reason he decided to repeatedly tease our daughter relentlessly, telling her to stop sharing food from our plates and to "remember which ones are hers" and even called her a "hater" at least 3 times saying things like "youre a real hater arent you?" "Wow youre such a hater"... he taught the other kids to respond arigato at the end to say thank you and when he got to her he asked "what do you say?" She responded arigato and he said "oh wow im surprised you said it". He was incredibly condescending and at no point did she ever respond to anything negatively or with an attitude or was impolite in anyway, it was totally uncalled for. I was shocked to say the least but I talked to her in her ear to make sure she was okay and knew he was "joking" she shrugged and continued to eat her meal but was a lot less enthusiastic about being there and didn't want to share any of our food anymore since he shamed her. Another parent at the table asked him if he liked working there, he said one of the best parts is "being able to say what you want to the customers and they cant do anything about it" as HE STARED DIRECTLY AT OUR DAUGHTER! We didn't want to upset her by talking with a manager at the restaurant while she was there, but definitely this scene was completely disrespectful. Usually we've only come here for birthdays but I'm not sure we should even do that anymore, I haven't had good luck with this Benihana.

Our chef was newer so he didn’t do much entertaining, he also accidentally threw a spatula at a woman at our table. Service was on the slower side but I think they were really short staffed. We had a 6:30 reservation and still weren’t seated till almost 7 pm.

Our chef was terrible! He got three orders wrong, did not talk or engage on any level, he forgot to season our food, dropped entrees on tables as he was plating it! We were there to celebrate my sons 18th birthday with a group of his friends that had never been before. Really disappointed.

We had a reservation we made two weeks prior for 5:45pm. We showed up at 5:48pm and checked in. 5 min later they seated my family of 6 (with 3 small children). After being seated and kids coloring etc, we were asked to all get up and move back to the lobby because that was not our table. They took no accountability and told us another party had checked in before us even though their reservation was after ours. It was embarrassing to get up be ushered away in front of everyone- kids with crayons and chopsticks in hand. To them wait another 5 min to be seated. Once seated, they promptly brought drinks and apps- but our chef did not reach our table until an hour after being seated. The manager shined us on and poorly pretended to care and did nothing to actually make it right.

It’s been many years since I’ve been to Benihana. I don’t think I’ll return. It used to be fun and good quality. Now it’s depressed and uninteresting. Bland food, few options and harried staff. Many better options in the area.

Almost everything was great about this visit to Benihana. The food was outstanding, the service was very good, and it was a fun dining experience. The only complaints I have are (1) they process your credit card payment while standing over you at the table with a handheld machine, which isn't as "classy" as what I'd expect from a somewhat expensive restaurant, and (2) they charge extra for chicken fried rice, which I think they should just include in the overall meal price since everything else is included. Other than that, it was an excellent experience and I'm looking forward to the next time.
