I’ve been to Benihana a few times before and this was my last time there. The place is a factory and customers are not treated well. Customers are usually made to wait when they get in - even if it’s on time for the reservation, and are encouraged to visit the downstairs bar. Once seated, it took 45 minutes for a chef to come and make the food. The food was good, but I’ve had better in other Hibachi places - such as flame or Fuji. They just don’t actually seem to care about the customer experience here much. I wouldn’t go back if I had a choice. Our reservation was for 8:00 PM and we weren’t served any food at all until 9:00 PM. And this isn’t the exception, it’s the general rule.

Soup was cold and so was the rice. The meat that goes with it was not that much for a main meal and the tricks were not very good at all. Very disappointed it was not as fun as we were hoping.

Celebrated my mother’s birthday here, and I might say it was nothing short of an amazing experience. Definitely will go again and recommend to anyone. Our Chef Tu was so sweet and funny. We had a time. Thank you Benihana, for a great evening !

The food was bland the yum yum sauce no taste the chicken a little tough and the colossal shrimp were tough and over cooked. The drinks were good... the shusi also very good. Need more selections of sauces and the cook was not engaged as should've been. I've had a much better habachi experience...

Reaervation was not honored. I arrived 15 min early & was told it would be a hour to a hour and 30min to seat my party. After explaining & complaining about the concept of a reservation, we were seated in 45 min. It really soured the birthday experience for my son & family.

My family & I chose to celebrate my sons 3rd birthday here. Definitely didn't want to scare him with the onion volcano (fire) but it was a plus lol! We all had a great time, even my son enjoyed himself. He ate the noodles & steak! The service, the food, and everything else was great!

Great tasty flavorful food from the teppanyaki grill. Good drinks from the bar and great customer service. The restaurant, bar area and restrooms were all clean. Didn’t wait long from ordering food items until the chef arrived to prepare the food.

I came with 20 people to celebrate my 60th birthday. It was a spectacular experience. Everything was fantastic including our waiter who handled my very thirsty crew quite well. Drinks flowed the chefs were awesome and the food was truly fresh and excellent. They even handled serving my birthday cake. Thanks you Benihana NYC for making a magical memory for me and my guests.

Our waitress was good so I don’t want this to reflect on her in any way but there was a child’s 7 year old birthday party happening while we were trying to enjoy our dinner and it was MAYHEM and really ruined it for us (and everyone else at the restaurant at that time, our entire table was miserable). It was SO loud, kids chanting/screaming/running everywhere. We were there with our 6 and 11 year old so very ok with children in general and them acting like children but this was too much. No one out to dinner should have to endure this. Really really disappointed.

My server and chef were great. The people I was seated with were obnoxious and rude to the staff. It was frustrating and I could not get out of there fast enough.

The food is always flavorful and delicious. The staff are very helpful and caring. The chefs are very observant of what people like and don’t like. I have been going to this restaurant for 10-12 years. Everyone still remembers what I like and don’t like about my food.

Squished us in the middle between two groups of people (one of my friends couldn’t even reach the table) and the two groups (not sure if they were together) were talking over us. We asked to move since half of the restaurant was empty, and there were at least two half empty tables, but we were told we needed to buy out an entire table. One waitress actually did try and help and was going to seat us at a different table, but the manager came over and told her no. We didn’t want a table to ourselves, but we wanted to be able to all at least have room to sit and reach the table comfortably. The restaurant was also a little dirty, and my menu was sticky and covered in sauce.

My friends and I came here for my birthday dinner (Most of us had already dined here several times, but had not been back since the pandemic). The chef did a great job and added some elements to his performance that we had not seen before. The waitress was very nice. There were a couple of small mistakes that bothered some of my friends, but I believe she was new, and it didn't bother me personally that much. In the past, someone from Benihana's would offer to take our picture and give us a printout of it. This time, we received no offer. I'm not the type of person to go out of my way to request something like that, so I just told everyone to let it go. That was probably the thing that bothered me the most. Overall, despite a few hiccups, I was pleased with the experience and would recommend it to others.

We booked for 10pm, received 9 calls from the restaurant stating that they would be locking the doors at 10pm because that is when they close. Why would OpenTable have 10pm as an option if they were closing at that time? Our chef was great, but front desk staff was INCREDIBLY rude, and did not have our usual Benihana birthday experience
