It took us about 2 hours just to get our food, the lady was very kind but food took way to long, we came in at 2 and didn’t get our food till about 3:45, food was amazing but just way too long.
Awesome for 2 families
My birthday. Daniel was amazing
Very underwhelming. I've always heard of the place and wanted to go. Finally did and was not very impressed. The chef was boring and didn't really entertain. Fried rice was an extra so was noodles. I'm accustom to those being part of your meal. overall so so.
It’s a nice experience, the food was really tasty but it was very loud.
Terrible customer service. Cold room. Noisy. Smelly
Everything was great just felt a little tight at the table
We waited an entire hour to be seated even though we had rsvps. We had to send our drinks back because there was no alcohol in them. The staff came back to confirm several times and seemed bothered when my sister noted she had a food allergy.
I had to wait two hours even with a reservation. Once we were seated the service was slow as well.
Our experience was rushed. I spent $70 on a meal that I had to box up and take home; chairs were up on the tables before we even left and they didn’t even sing happy birthday to me and my guest as it was both of our birthdays! Waiter was curt, almost rude which made the experience draining.
The chef that we had deserve a 0/5 if possible. He started off with the “show” and everything seemed alright until he started serving the food. Guests who ONLY paid for noodles received chicken AND shrimp. Whereas I paid 33.50 for a spoonful of chicken and steak for the “Rocky’s Special”. When he realized his mistake he didn’t bother fixing it as most of the food was already given to guests that didn’t bother eating the food in the end and it ended up getting thrown out. No apologies for the mix up in our orders as well as he walked away. I was disappointed because the food was either overly seasoned or not seasoned at all.
When we asked for a little more food because I just paid 33.50 for a quarter plate of food for an adult, the manager approached us with an attitude. She walked up to us, place her hands on the table and just looked at us. I looked back confused as she never mentioned who she was and neither did she bother to mention why she approached us. Finally my friend started the conversation with a hello, as we didn’t know what to say, and she said something along the lines of, “So what’s the problem here?” There wasn’t a problem besides the guests sitting next to me getting TWO PLATEFUL of entrees they didn’t even order and WON’T have to pay for, whereas I paid for a full plate of entrees and got little to nothing? We explained the mix up and just asked for maybe a little more food and she told us that we got our serving- 1/4 lb of the steak and 1/4 of the chicken. I’m not entirely sure what most people would consider a 1/4 lb, but I’m sure 4 measly pieces of chicken and an unasked for mushroom doesn’t equal 1/4 lb of chicken. When we tried to explain that we didn’t even touch most of the food before she got here, she asked us to pay an extra $20 for a few extra pieces of chicken. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t upset because I’m essentially paying for another party’s food.
One of my favourite restaurants in the world! Great for celebrations.
Food is fresh And well done, I like the family oriented ambiance the most .the cooking is also fun / entertaining.
We had Devin as our cook and he was excellent. However, the waiter was not good. You were forced to ask him for any type of drink.
First time there ever and I enjoyed myself; the food was amazing, the chef was very entertaining. I felt like a kid in a candy shop watching the chef doing his tricks lol.
Overpriced mediocre food, salmon was tasteless and medium rare even though I had asked for it to be cooked well done, chicken teriyaki had no taste at all, tight hibachi table (I had to move so that the chef could get to his table), room was like a classroom with no decor. Staff was friendly and that’s the only positive thing about our date night. Typical overpriced tourist trap.
I made a reservation for 12:45 for the hibachi table but when we got there I was told that we had to wait because of a big tour party. We were offered to sit downstairs at the regular table. So we too. The table and we waited almost 45 minutes to get to food and once we got it well let’s says that I’m not going back.
Checked in 10 minutes early, Which was for nothing because I didn’t get seated for 30min & it took a whole hour to finally get drinks & salad.. Now add the time it takes to cook the food!!! Smfh...
Soup was cold, and everything we ordered was unbelievably salty. Service was a little slow and it took a long time to order/receive drinks.
Staffs are super rude!!! The cook was so dry and Boring to be a hibachi cook!! Over all very disappointing experience!!
The chef was not that good at all. He was a a dark skin Indian looking old man. All he did was cook the food and left. This is my fourth time here and this was by far the worst experience of all. He wasn’t really interactive with the guest at the table and did not make an enjoyable experience for the two kids at our table and we had two birthdays at the table and no one sang happy birthday or gave a ice cream. There was table behind us who had a great interactive chef. I won’t be back at this location!!
Although the cooking "stunts" are a little stale and perhaps need to be updated -- overall, Benihana remains a great family dining experience. There's something to enjoy for all ages and all palettes.
My boyfriend and I went for my birthday, and although it was quite busy, we were seated within 15 mins after our scheduled reservation. Everyone was very nice and helpful, not to mention the amazing food. Overall we had a great time and plan to make this a more frequent trip. Thank you!
Grill didn’t work, so they cooked our food on another grill. Did not get a hibachi experience. Waiter screwed up multiple orders, multiple times. Very slow service besides. Asked for the usual Polaroid at the end and they just ignored us. Offered a measly 15% off for the trouble. Friends said it was the worst dining experience they’ve ever had.
Overwhelmingly overcrowded. Floors were dirty and sticky. Crowd was unruly and the service team was way over their heads. You’re seated with random strangers and too close to other tables. Can’t even hear one another speak. Room was filled with belligerent patrons. Bill was ridiculously high. Save your time, money and energy. Go elsewhere.
We had a reservation for 7 pm, but we got seated at 7:30. The rest was great!
The food was off, especially the fried rice and the mustered sauce in particular
Great Staff!!! So pleasant and kind and upbeat!! Food was great!!
Good food and would go back. My issue is that I booked through open table. I came to Benihana and checked in at front desk. Gave my name. The lady checked me in. Then 15 minutes later while I’m sitting in Benihana they call to ask if I’m coming. I say I’m already here. The next day I get email saying sorry I did not make it but let them know in the future. I again had to say but I was there.
Benihana food is always delicious but even with a reservation we were kept waiting for a bit. Main complaint is that the portions are small. Normally as a small woman I expect to not come close to finishing my food at hibachi. I imagine any man would still be hungry. For the cost we should be getting more veggies and 2 full shrimp from apps, and the noodles.
The main course has to be sourced better. The restaurant is mostly good but the steak and salmon lacked luster.
If you haven't gone it's worth it to go once for the experience. That's what you are paying for. Seats are tight and in a group of strangers and its loud. Super expensive for okay food. For a show its kind of cute I guess for a meal I'd pick takeout.
We made a reservation for 6:30 pm but didn’t get seated until 7:15pm!! There were so many angry people arguing with hostess about their reservations. No apologies, but keep promising everyone that they were next on the list.
Service was slow. There were 11 people at the table that was clearly designed for 8. We were cramped. I have been to Benihana many times in my state, California, but this one in New York is the worst!
Strongly not recommend this place!
The receptionist told us that we had to wait (50minutes)because our party was 5 minutes late
Very noisy, too full, made us wait for more than 30 m and we had reservation, tables to tight, not what expected compared to other benihama, bad experience
Waited an hour to be sited despite having reservations. The food was fair. I’ve had better Japanese food.
Me and my boy friend had so much fun and the food was awesome.... they only thing is that we felt a little rushed, maybe because it was crowed.
If you make a reservation, expect to be seated 20-30 minutes after the actual reservation time
Probably the worst meal we have ever experienced in any restaurant! We were celebrating my twins’ 10 th birthday. We were 5 people seated practically on top of each other. The food was almost inedible, each course served before dirty dishes from previous course were removed. In the middle of trying to swallow the main course, with all the dirty dishes on the table, they came with icecream for the twins with a candle in each one . And fresh dishes for the next seating stacked in front of us! Never have I experienced such an outrage in a restaurant!
