Benihana - New York
Book your next event with us
I would like to go again ASAP. Next time I'll brinf more people
We waited an hr to be seated then another hr for someone to take our order at the table
I have been coming here since I was a child, and I must say this was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. They crammed the tables with 5 couples at a time, my fiance couldn't even sit at the table properly and eat her food she had to bring her plate/bowl to her lap becuase there was no space. The waitress tried her best to be attentive but could not because she was serving multiple tables at the same time. We didn't even get my chicken and shrimp appetizers with our entrees. Worst experience by far at this restaurant.
Looking to experience something new, this is the place to be.
Was not at all asked if any of us had food allergies. We are selves made it known and they still ended up cooking my steak with shrimp
It was too packed. Seating guest 10 a table instead of 8 like the usual. I barely had any space to eat. The server and the chef didn’t ask if anyone was allergic to seafood. They almost killed my boyfriend. Then the server came and pressed my boyfriend for a tip !
Overall ok. My boyfriend and I had a 8:45pm reservation made 2 weeks prior and we got there at 8:40pm and were told to wait 20 minutes. We anxiously awaited listening to the hosts screaming out people names (smh). We then were called an hour later after standing and not even asked if we would like a drink while waiting . After sitting down we waited another 25 minutes or so for the chef and waiter to arrive . Hot mess!! The chef was boring and timid and barely spoke aside from the generic jokes the Benihana’s chefs make. I really expected more since I spoke this place up to my boyfriend for months before his first time going . My first time was great compare to this! Maybe because it was Valentine’s Day but it should have been more organized ! There is no reason why we should have waited an hour and 25 minutes from a reservation made two weeks in advance ! Never again for a special occasion. The food and drinks as always were great and the waiter even though busy did his best so kudos to him!! 👏🏽
Food was great, experience was nice. Definitely would go back
Ramon was a amazing Chef I will request him every time me and my partner enjoyed the meal the show and the jokes were great !
Packed 12 people into the table. No one was even able to get up without the person next to them standing up as well. I had to hold the plate in my hands to be able to eat. Pretty much like being on a packed subway car
The food is delicious, was a bit too crowded at the table , tables should be more bigger , didn’t really have good space to close to other people . Very fast service as soon as you done eating they kicking you out . But overall it was good
The only thing I would suggest is for them to stop cramming people at these tables. A couple and their child left our table because the restaurant tried putting 11 adults and a child at one table.
It was good food, but our chef was less energetic than ones we’ve had in the past. It was CROWDED with long wait times for getting started, even though we were at our table.
Very crowded at table. I basically had to hold my plate and eat but other than that great experience, great place, great food.
The hostess took forever to seat us even though we had a reservation and the hibachi waiter was rude.
I love this place the food is amazing the value for New York City is excellent! It was my birthday so I had the $30 birthday coupon which was a great gift from them to me highly recommend this place to anyone
A1. Great show with Milton and grest meal!
My friend Birthday
Different clientele to say Orlando & London. Young and non communicative. Chefs don’t interact with you . I am comparing to the other Benihana restaurants I have been to many times.
Although we had to wait a bit from our reservation time to get seated. The service was exceptional, Romeo the chef was very polite, professional, and funny KUDOS to him ! Thank you Benihana’s for a great birthday dinner. My family and I loved it.
You do not go to Benihana for the food. You go for the show. It's a nice place to bring the kids, particularly if they have not yet hit their teen years. Nearly every table had more than two children. The staff is friendly and efficient. Watching the food being prepared is fun. And the little tricks, like flicking the shrimp tails into the chef's hat or igniting an onion volcano delights the little ones. But the food is overcooked. Medium rare stack is more like medium. I shudder to think what well done would look like. It's a tad pricey (dinner for four with no drinks and no extras, like the fried rice, came out to almost $150 with the tip). It's good for at least one visit. I don't know if I'd go back, however.
Worst Hibachi restaurant I've ever eaten at and most expensive too. Filet mignon was not very good and the woman sitting next to me took one bite of her lobster and asked the manager to take it back. Chef was also amateurish dropping his utensils repeatedly. Food was also spaced much more than usual for hibachi. There are too many other options in NYC to waste your money here
Nice experience for the kids especially, food was ok, I felt that the chef was a little bit robotic in what he was doing, lacked genuine joy and fun and could have made it much more enjoyable with some more tricks and smiles/fun.
Went to Benihana to celebrate my birthday. We were squeezed into a table seemingly meant for 6 however there were 9 people at the table! We did not receive our salads and the soup arrived right before the entree was served. The chef did not perform any tricks and rushed through the entire meal. I usually have a good experience here but this time it was subpar at best.
Reservations are not taken on time.
Location is extremely busy, so the staff is a little unorganized. Lots of children. The chefs were not especially good Hibachi Chefs.
Fun birthday celebration with excellent service! The singing made it extra special!
The food was very salty. Not much flavor. I think it was the chef.
The chef and customer knew each other therefore the customers he knew was served more food.
Not sure why but I thought the scene would be a bit more sophisticated. It was the total opposite. Nothing stood out, the food was edible and the ambiance was loud and cafeteria like. It was ok, the hibachi chef was trying to be entertaining. They did accommodate food allergies which was a plus. Probably wouldn’t go back again.
It was My Sisters Bday and dinner n service, food and all was amazing!!!
Amazing as usual! If you're searching for a fusion experience, that's the perfect restaurant! Highly appreciated!
This was my first time at the Benihana in NYC. The location was nice. I will say the cook did not really put on a show as what I am used to in other instances. Overall the food was perfect just wish to have had a better performance from the chef. Maybe he was tired.
The kids love it
Benihana experience was horrible. Although we had a reservation for 08:30p.m. they only called us at 09:05 p.m.. It was very loud and dinning room was full of smoke. They sat 9 people on a table of 8 and the table next to ours sat 10 people instead of 8. Horrible experience.
This was the worst experience of my life. They sat is over an hour late, we were served 20 minutes later, I spend a ton of money on a show that was 3 hours after our reservations we had to miss, they tried to fit way too many people at our table, the man behind me threatened me Bc his chair was on my sweater, no one did a thing, he threatened to kill me by the way, nothing was comped no apology was served. I have been going to Benihana my entire life, since the day before camp every birthday, every mother’s and Father’s Day. It is my FAVORITE restaurant. I will NEVER go to your establishment again and you owe me $100 for missing my show.
We waited an hour for our reservation. It was my father's birthday and the crowds were ridiculous. Clearly, everyone else with reservations seemed to have been waiting forever and people were really mad. Not the most relaxing and enjoyable way to spend your Saturday evening. The food was good but just a warning - barely any vegetarian options. I came out starving. Also, be prepared to sit at a table with other parties. After our dinner, the general manager approached us with someone else's bill that didn't include a tip, asking if it's ours. Ridiculous! Do yourself a favor and drive out to their Long Island location if you can. Much more of an enjoyable experience.
Had to wait over an hour for our table in a packed bar and we had a reservation. Very poor service.
The service was terrible. The restaurant was too hot (better ventilation needed). We waited at our table for at least 20 minutes before we were greeted. It really was an unpleasant experience, sadly.
It was my first experience. I should’ve went to red lobster.
