Benihana - New York Ratings and Reviews
Had such a great time here ! This place is a perfect spot for Birthdays ! They take picture of you and your party and develop them on the spot for free on your birthday. Food is AMAZING, you will be stuffed after leaving here worth the prices. Happy i went there!
Great place to bring kids. Took my daughter out for a special lunch and she loves the chefs tricks. The food is very good and reasonably priced given the entertainment. Overall a great place to have lunch if you are doing a special day in the city. They have a kids menu also with affordable lunch specials. If you have never been or are with someone who has never been it is definitely worth it. Otherwise, the repertoire of tricks and jokes stays the same so you may not need to see it twice...
Although we had a reservation and arrived early--we had to wait over a half hour to be seated. It seemed as if the reservation time was ignored. We brought our grandchildren and it was hard to wait 45 minutes to be seated when you have children with you. There were many children at this restaurant.
Overall the food was amazing. I had a reservation for 9:30pm , I callled that I was going to be late, me and my husband arrive at 10:15pm. We did not get seated until 12:00am. I did not like the fact that we got seated so late. But i was celebrating my anniversary so we did not mind having so cocktails before we had our dinner. But cant complain because i had an amazing time.
Service was horrible, our waitress couldn't even get our party a glass of water which we waited for the entire meal. had to get out of my seat on multiple occasions to ask other tables waiters for help. Tables are two small for the amount of people they squeeze in. Plates were dirty when we sat down. Used to love to go here, now won't return
The restaurant itself was very nice and the food was great! My only complaint is how crowded it was in there with seating. I had to keep moving for the Hibachi chefs to get their carts where they needed to be. It was kind of annoying but it didnt ruin my time here. I definitely recommend it!
First experience at the NYC location - definitely the last.
I don't usually review anything but this deserved to be said. Decided to come here to celebrate my daughter's 15th birthday, instead of driving out of the city. Made reservations a week in advance for 7:45pm. When we arrived (myself and 4 children) there were only a few people at the bar and no one waiting. I checked in and was told 'we will be right with you'. That turned into over an hour wait. Not sure if the front staff was unaware of how to seat/check people in or what. I continuously kept asking if the table was ready, no one had an answer. Others came in after us with same reservation times and later and were able to be seated. We finally get seated at approximately 9:15pm and were rushed through dinner. The wait staff at the table were attentive but in a speedy kind of way. There was very little time between courses and by 10pm we had already been given our check. I put on a happy face for my daughter's sake, but overall it is managed horribly - and for a $200 bill, completely unacceptable. I would have rather taken the hour and driven to the location in New Jersey or to Edo in Pelham. Would have saved money as well.
2nd time there and for the 2nd time not impressed. Soup came with no spoon by the time the spoon came finished soup sharing a spoon. Appetizer came out half way through dinner. Other people at table didn’t get white rice till almost after dinner.
Won’t be going back to the one in NYC.
Unfortunately we arrived 10 minutes late. The receptionist insisted it was 15 minutes which it definitely was not, and we were made to wait 3/4 of an hour.
Children’s parties and birthdays. The noise was absolutely unbearable. It took away all the pleasure of having dinner there. Pity. The food is good, the « show » fun, the flames spectacular, and service pleasant.
