it took a very long time after we were seated for our chef to arrive at the table. His cooking skills were good, but I have had a better interactive experience in the past. (Two of us at the table were celebrating our birthdays.
Not enough staff to sest and serve the people
Went for our 6 year old birthday. Rarely did the waitress came back to fill drinks, chef had to go get his own bowl for rice and steaks in the middle of cooking after asking wait staff for it, chairs and tables sticky. The vent above station caked with grease and we were waiting for it to drop on the griddle. Literally, 4 of the 7 people immediately got stomach issues as they overdid the oil/butter in the food. Bathrooms so gross after taking my son, my husband didn't eat the last portion which was the steak. Restaurant use to be great, but quality is down. They really should open up once they are able to staff and clean with city guidelines as I bet they would be failing today. Quality is not there for a $400 bill on a special occasion. I would choose another restaurant to eat at.
Worst restaurant experience in 55 years. Sucked in every way
The waitress and the chef were very kind and personable. The chef cooked our food to perfection. We only had to wait 5-10 on our table.
They were a hour behind on reservations! Other people who came after us were seated before us.
My party of 5 had a 1:30 reservation and didn’t get seated until 3pm due to staffing issues and cook didn’t start cooking until 3:42pm. If your understaffed you shouldn’t accept reservations.

My whole Birthday dinner was ruined.
I made a reservation and they called me 30 minutes before my dinner to tell me that they were very short on chefs. I arrived an hour late like they suggested and they still didn’t cook the food in front of me. Waitress brought wrong drink to me. Food took too long to make. Chicken was cut up in tiny bites! Steak was cooked well instead of medium. The waitress didn’t bring my birthday ice cream. She didn’t offer to take my picture did my birthday. The worst experience I’ve ever had there and I’ve been coming there for years to celebrate mine and my son’s birthday.
This was the second time they have been short on staff. Our wait was an hour long despite having reservations. The wait for food was another hour. The food was just ok. Really disappointed.

It was a great experience except it took longer than we thought it should to be seated. We had reservations. Got there early and still had to wait about 20 minutes.

3:30 reservation we had to demand to be seated at 4:20. Said they were short staffed. There was only 1 server covering the entire 1/2 of the restaurant. This is really not our problem. Finally got out of there at 6:30. If you make a early reservation don’t expect to get in and out of there.

Reservations didn't matter. The wait for a table was 30 minutes past our time. The wait for a cook was another hour. The waitress and cook were nice, but the restaurant manager should allow so many Reservations if they don't have the available staff. The only reason we stayed was because it my daughter's 16th birthday

I have been a customer for over 20 years and NEVER have I been treated the way I was yesterday. I waited 30 mins past my reservation time just to be set on a side that had no server and wait another 15 mins to be brought water. Finally, after another 15 minutes (one hour past my reservation and still no food or even salad), I asked to see the manager. She apologized and the hostess began taking our order. The chef was amazing and the food was great. It then took almost another 20 minutes after eating to get the check and an additional 15 minutes to retrieve payment. This visit took 3 hours to complete which is ridiculous. I understand about being slow due to the pandemic because you have limited help, but my biggest thing is no one communicated to us what was going on. I am not a heartless person so I would have understood. This is not the first time that it has taken a long time for the chef to come out due to being short staffed, but it was always communicated to us what was happening. I never thought that I would say this, but it will be a very long time before I or my family come back to Benihana again. The service used to be impeccable, but now it is terrible and the prices are too high for awful service.
The service was awful, the reservation was at 1:45pm and they just sat my party but the server didn’t show up until 2:15, not even to take the drinks order. After she finally showed up, we were without drinks for another 15min. This has become an usual at this place
First time in Benihana and I wasn’t too impressed. However, our server was outstanding. The hibachi chef, not so much the person was new. It is understandable but, the enthusiasm wasn’t what I’m used to at hibachi grills. My food also wasn’t worth the price; the Mai Tai was delicious and my daughter fried rice was OK.

My daughter and I really enjoyed our dining experience. They still provided socially distant seating for groups, which was awesome. The waitress and chef were fantastic.

The waitress let us run our of drinks and then just gave us water, not our refill. We asked for something and would have to wait a long time to get it. For salt, white rice. Horrible. She was nice. The cook, well, lets say he was trying to get away with just talking and not cooking. We didn't get the dripping sauce til the end of the meal. He told me to ask the waitress for the sauce cups. At the end he asked does anyone want the mushrooms. He also was nice, but didn't do his job. We have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years for celebrations, but will not anymore. Also, we have never seen the tables so dirty and not cleaned afterwards. The chef said he santizes it with the flame.
I was skeptical about going back because my birthday experience was horrible, but I’m glad I did because this time was much better. Most definitely going back soon!
The food was great but the service was very poor and slow
Horrible experience. Waited an hour for food. Steak was overcooked, out of paper menus, out of chopsticks, asked for mushrooms only and got onions and zucchini only. Boyfriend ordered teriyaki chicken with steamed rice. Was brought shrimp and fried rice. Will never go back!!!
This location has experienced a lot of change over the years. On this day they were low on chefs and staff communication was not in sync.
My family and I did not have a chance to enjoy a meal at the restaurant because the restaurant was not up to par. I made reservations for 2:30 but when I called the lady told me that there would not be a cook at that time. I had them change the time to 3:00, but they changed to 3:30 because they didn't have a chef. We got there and waited until notified by text. As we walked through the glass doors I couldn't help but notice the handprints on the doors that need to be cleaned off. Entering the restuarant there were no customers insde, but all of the tables were filled with dirty dishes. The floor had rice and dishes under the chairs. The lady at the desk tried to help by cleaning, but it was too much for her to do and cover the desk. She tried to get help, but noone was available. At that point my daughter told me to just take her somewhere else to celebrate her birthday. We were all disappointed, but I really felt bad for my daughter. I really wanted her to enjoy her special day. I have never had a visit to your restaurant in this terrible shape. I understand the lack of workers due to Covid, but for the prices that customers pay I would expect a greater experience. I just wish I could have been notified of the conditions before planning dinner for my daughter's 14th birthday. Very disappointed customers.

I stood at the front and was not acknowledge with even a hello for 10 min. took 15 min to get my drink and were only 2 cooks so took 2 hrs just to get started! food was okay but nothing like it used to be
Worst experience ever. Never coming back. Made a reservation just to wait for hours and not get served properly. Our food was not good so we sent it back for full refund. Customer service was poor and waitresses were not accommodating whatsoever. Telling everyone to go to Osaka instead in the future.

My mother is 76 and this is her first time attending Benihana. She was pleasantly surprised. The staff treated the elderly with care and kindness and was patient with her. She raved about the chefs talents on the grille. Thank you, Benihana Memphis
