So delicious, generous portions, freshly made.
My wife and I really like eating at Benihana's in Maple Grove. We always enjoy watching the chef cook in front of us and the tricks that he does. Also we are really full when we're finished.
I was there for my birthday- all I got was that I had to sit on a wooden bench because we were “squeezed in. Uncomfortable.
The server we had was horrible! He messed up our orders, was not working in a timely manner, and appeared to be under the influence. No one at the table was satisfied with the service he provided. And from observing the other tables he served, they were not pleased as well.
The experience was almost perfect the service excellent the good amazing. The only issue was we sat in the back corner by a door that was causing a really cold draft that was uncomfortable. Around our table there were 4 to 5 random carts that are used for holding the cooks items. There were also 4 to 5 chairs stacked up. It was really a mess where we sat and really cold.
Food was great. We were looking forward to the picture at the end. Apparently the printer broke, but left our email for them to forward....still haven't received.
Benihana is a fun experience and delicious food but it is way over priced.
The food is great, a little expensive, but the service is great & the presentation is fun. We were there for my birthday & got seated with a family with three small boys, I thought it was going to go south, but thankfully the kids were well behaved.
We love Benihana. Especially for special occasions.
The food was horrible I’ve been to moa and saint Louis Park and both spots the food was great but this location is horrible waste of money and time
Not impressed with the chef, food was good but salad very watery. Sat way in the back, other chefs were preparing themselves before heading to their tables. Food wasn't as good as it usually is
It was probly my worst experience at benihana knows the chef did not entertain us at all or talk and the food was so so we have been the benihana has lots of times and this is our worst experience ever will not go back to Maple Grove
Had taken fried race home and I found a hair in it not happy at all
Birthday! Yama was our chef and he was AMAZING. Our server was also wonderful but I can’t remember her name. Really one of the best Benihana experiences in a long time. Dan was also VERY wonderful to our table!
Birthday dinner, food was good and the chef was talented.
Had a reservation at 2 for 8. Half our party arrived at 1:55 the remainder at 2:05. We were not seated till 2:15 as they decided to clear a table rather than using an empty clean table. At 3:00 we still had no chef. At 3 I asked to speak with a manager. After 5 minutes she came over and said the chef would be out shortly. The delay was our fault due to half our party arriving at 2:15. We didn't, we just weren't seated until then. No apologies. Her excuse was that she just came on duty. Restaurant was very slow and the attitude of management was rude.
Our server was friendly and helpful.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars overall is because the restaurant is obviously short on chefs. It took a while for us to get seated and for the chef to arrive to cook our food - all a direct result of being short of chefs -- it is a snowball effect when you get behind it causes all the tables to get behind. It was nice, however, to see something new - our chef created a "mickey mouse" face with the rice, and a "tornado" with the onions. Makes me want to come back again soon to see what else might be new.
Had reservations but still had to wait 30 min past, almost left.
We, a party of seven, were celebrating a Birthday. Our party consisted of seven, five adults, a five year old, and an eight year old. We had a wonderful time. Our Chef was Aaron and he put on a great show for the children.
Everything was great and we had great service. I got the Rocky’s choice and it was wonderful food. Thank you!
The food was good. However I was not happy with the cook. He did not interact with us, nor did he perform, any of his "tricks"
I came here with my family for the first time a few days ago, and this was the best meal I've ever had. My dinner included filet mignon along with scallops - both of which were cooked to perfection. Our chef was outstanding and very entertaining. This experience was definitely worth the price, and I can't wait to go back again!
Santonio our chef was so personable. Great guy. Front door opened letting in cold air a lot.
I have been dining at benihana for my birthday and other occasions since 1998. March 4 is my birthday and we went to Maple Grove benihana with 4 pm reservations. Two of my family members ordered sushi which finally came long after the chef was done at our table. We we not billed for the sushi. I have noticed the size of the shrimp and scallops are smaller than last year and the years before but the prices remain high. I have loved benihana food for years but I am very disappointed. We guess time will tell if we return. The waitress didn't even take my birthday picture like they have done in years pass. Is benihana having financial issues? Sure seems so. Please get it together.
The food at Benehana is quite reasonable if you go during lunch. I was a bit disappointed that when I entered it was for my birthday when making reservations on open table and again my kids told the staff when they were taking our order that it was for my birthday and yet other parties celebrating birthdays received a free desert and the staff sang happy birthday to them, we were ignored.
I feel it's pointless to reserve when it takes a hour just to be seated! Then the chef took to long to make the food also didn't have enough food. Then when he did his tricks his knife flew across the table and hit my friend! It takes quite some time to make food that when everything's done the rice is cold! We couldn't eat our food we took it to go. It's was our birthday we didn't get the ice cream or didn't get to take a picture because we was there until the restaurant closed that's how long everything took
Normally we have great service at this location, however this time it was awful. Dirty dishes were not removed, no drink refills and we never got the white rice we ordered. Our server seemed to completely disappear. Also, our chef wasn't as entertaining as other we have had in the past.
It was so crowded at the grill, and loud it was difficult to visit and the grill fumes drifted right into us as our seat was near the entrance so whenever the door opened, the air pushed across our grill. Service has gone down at this location and the food quality is slipping too. I am not in a hurry to go back and do not recommend as it is not cheap... dropped $130 for 2 modest entrees and 1 drink each.
The food is delicious and the show is fun! We go every year for my birthday. My only complaint is that the busser kept trying to take my dish before I was finished.
Food was excellent but it took 35 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. Service was slow and they didn't bring drinks to us when we finished and we had to flag them down and they didn't take our glasses when we were done with them.
They treated my Dad like a king for his birthday; which was exactly what I was hoping for. Thank you so much!!!!!
A week day business lunch with reservations made two weeks prior to date. The Hostess was not prepared, even though our party arrived early. Seating was 10 minutes late, past the reservation time. A chef did not seem to be assigned to us, and no explanation from staff or manager. After our soup course, the manager seemed to have disappeared. Our party had work obligations to get back to, but the staff didn't seem to care. Once a chef did come to our table, he dropped his utensils on the floor, started to use the knife until a member of my party pointed it out that he was trying to use the knife that hit the floor. We told the chef that he now had 15 minutes to feed us since we had been waiting on him an hour. NEVER GO TO THIS RESTAURANT AT LUNCH! Or if you have a time limit! What could have been a nice experience for our team out celebrating staff accomplishments, turned out to be a very stressful and not fun lunch. UGH!
I had a reservation for 8:00pm. Arrived at 7:45, walked straight to the front/hostess desk and stood there looking at the employees hoping I’d get greeted or a “hello”, “hi” but not there was nothing. So I decided to say “Hello, I have a reservation at 8:00.” The hostess or whoever she was said ok, you’re checked in. I understand working under high stress but this was crap service. I don’t recommend anyone going to spend $25-$40 on a plate here with the front end staff showing the obvious stress.
Waiting over an hour for food to start but over all good experience
The waiter sucked! He dropped my card on the grill, never apologized. Did not see him after he took the order.
The food and overall experience was good. Our chef was great. However the service is extremely slow. We had reservations for 7:00 (arrived early) and didn't get seated until 7:30. After we were seated it took a very long time for our server to come to our table. He took our drink order and was gone forever until he came back with our drinks. It ended up being almost a two and a half hour experience. They need to fix the slow service in order for the experience to be worth the high prices.
We’ve been to Benihana on numerous occasions and had a very good experience, but this was not one of those times. We had a reservation (an early 5:30 one at that so the restaurant was not yet busy), yet waited 1/2 hour to be seated. Once seated, it was 45 more minutes before our chef joined the table. The chef didn’t do all the parts of the “cooking show” that you typically see at Benihana, and seemed more intent on just getting the food cooked and getting out than the showmanship aspect of it. Additionally, he heavily doused the chicken fried rice in soy sauce, yet put no soy sauce on the vegetables. They forgot the white rice for my two children, and when I requested it, they brought out one single bowl for them to share. I’ve never had a bad experience at Benihana before, but if this had been my first time, I wouldn’t go back.
Benihana is my favorite treat, the MoA & St Louis Park locations are great but time and time again I am disappointed with the Maple Grove location. Slow service, slow everything. I've talked to other Benihana fans and they have the same review
Brooke the manager was EXTREMELY accommodating....she went above and beyond!
It was a great experience, we love the food however the wait time was very long, I have 2 kids and we were there for an hour before we got our food. Felt a little rush once we go our food...
Great service! It was a fun place to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
