Benihana - Manhasset
This Benihana location is a bit small and cramped. The service was decent, the facilities were clean, but the food was just ok. Not terrible but ok.
Very Friendly Service, Had A Great Time With My Husband. The Food Was Absolutely Wonderful
Birthday celebration at Manhasset location, been coming here as a family for over 20 years. Quality of the meal is still high, and honestly that is the reason our kids - now grown- still ask to go. Other factors; the chef “show”, eating dinner prepared directly in front of you, the multi-course meal, all okay but some of that original luster is gone. The franchise isn’t quite as on point as it was and chefs vary in expertise. The price point is a treat, not an any day family meal. Once or twice a year, we overpay for the nostalgia.
Waitress didn’t really tend to the table. Dirty bowls sat around us for quite a while and we barely saw her to get drink refills. The chef was really confused about who ordered what for some reason and the chicken wasn’t completely cooked!! Very disappointed; I’ve been to Benihana many times and I’ve never experienced anything like this.
Food was good, but wait for food was long. Overall I love coming here.
Being put at table with strangers difficult. The group we were with were unfriendly and had poor behaved children.
Our Chef had no personality and used way too much salt and pepper on the food. So loud I had a headache from it.
The worst night ever they didn’t honor my reservation had to wait an additional hour 40 minutes to be seated on top of the hour that we already waited because our party was big then to be seated finally someone at the table had lobster which I am highly allergic to when I asked for my food to be made inside it’s turned into a big fiasco headache after my party eat then my food came out and I was scolded by the waitress for not telling her earlier that I had any food allergies she made this issue totally my own like who does that she was like arguing with me about my food allergy.
Celebrating a Birthday
Great experience but getting drinks (water) took forever.
The person that cook the food didn't do really nothing good and it was my daughter birthday and only one person song her the birthday song and I saw in other groups they had more than one person sing happy birthday service wasn't good
We always celebrate a family member's birthday here and love it. The food is excellent, steaks are tender and flavorful. The seafood was delicious! Our chef didn't do as big of a show as many wwe have had before but he was an excellent cook. All the food was prepared well and to order. The soup and salad is always lovely with the terrific ginger dressing. Should supply a knife since some of the lettuce leaves are a bit large and the tomatoes should be cut for the little ones.
The noise level is also a problem but I think we've all come to accept that. BUT PARENTS should be told to keep their children from running around or screaming, AND an ADULT should be made to stay at each table full of kids. All too often there are children celebrating a party and the Adults are sitting close but not with them, socializing with eachother.
It's a family restaurant and I feel the FAMILIES should be in more control than they are.
But thank you for a Fabulous Food Experience.
So loud from kids birthdays. We were with kids too but parents didn’t little to quiet the screaming girls.
Very cold in restaurant, had to wear jacket throughout dinner. Chef messed up order giving one dish to the wrong person. This resulted in overcooking chicken fried rice.
Everything was delicious and the service was fantastic.
Food was fine, service was good, but the experience was mediocre. We came with kids expecting a fun "show," but were very disappointed.
Took the family there had a great time.
The food was great and the Chef was fun. However, the female waiter was in a bad mood from before our table was filled. She completely ruined my moms simple order of lomein and vegetables with no onion. There was onions on everything. She also retrieved my fathers salad while he was still eating it. He turned his head to see his grandchild eating and his salad was gone and it was almost full. Although food was great tasting customer service is very important. It gave my parents an impression that restaurant does not care about you and it was their ffirst time at a bennihanas. I am truly disappointed.
This was a very good experience. The seating was fast, not too crowded. The service was fast. We got a great cook and food was delicious. Reminded me why I keep coming back.
I loved the food. Finally took my fiancé here after attempting for three years. She enjoyed it and the show was GREAT.
I took my brother here for his birthday, we had never been to Benihana but heard good things about it. We made a reservation for 7pm, but wasn’t seated until 7:15. Anytime I make reservations anywhere Im seated immediately. When we were seated the waitress seemed rushed, quickly taking drink and food orders, but not asking my brother or I about appetizer’s like she did the rest of the table. Then she basically told us what we would be eating, that was strange. The cook came, started grilling food, shrimp, vegetables, fried rice, chicken, steak, all looked good while cooking but unfortunately didn’t taste as good as it looked. I was told they treat customers good on birthday occasions, they took a quick pic that didn’t come out well and gave melted ice cream with a candle on top. For the price, I expected much more, but was disappointed. This is elevated fast food at best. Not sure if I will ever return, service, food and experience was truly underwhelming.
The cook, Miguel, tried very hard to entertain the guests; I’ve been at many other Benihanas, so I wasn’t impressed by the lack of service. Dirty plates and glasses were left unattended all evening. I was cheated out of my schrimp order but charged full price. The noise level gives you a headache; everybody had to talk loud to understand the conversation. The decorations are attractive. Won’t return or recommend.
Everything was delicious as usual.
We share a table
They make a poor show and give more to the other people if I have 3 pieces of shirmp is a lot it was my son bday we told them they didn’t even got deserve menu only vanilla or chocolate ice cream
We went for my daughter’s birthday, there were 7 of us. From the start, the customer service is great. Very friendly and helpful staff. The food is great, the chef entertaining, and the price is very reasonable.
Sat down at 2:15. Chef didn’t come out until 3:00. We had to leave at that point as we didn’t expect to wait that long and had to be somewhere by 3:30. Very, very disappointed.
One of our favorites for fun dining. Great hibachi, energetic ambiance great for group dining.
We had a great time celebrating me and my wife’s birthday which is on the same day !! Food was awesome cheif was terrific and funny .we had a blast .... thanks guys
The chef was lousy and lacked the skill or energy !
Food was terrible, service was worse, but at least the chef was fun. We won’t be back anytime soon as the last few times have been disappointing.
Great food, service, atmosphere. Always a good time at this location.
They took interest in the fact that it was my wifes’s birthday, without me reminding them. I had mentioned it in the comments when I first made the reservation thru open table. Over all It was a very enjoyable experience.
Benihana is a good experience when you have a group of people going. Would recommend that you join the Chefs table for all in the family to take advantage of the birthday certificate. It is a great deal.
Our chef wasn’t energetic and didn’t show any cool cooking tricks and make our 3 children very disappointed because kids were exited to see chef cooking performance. They find out other tables had cool chefs so my children were more looking at other tables than our boring tired chef.
Food was okay.
Reservations need to be honored - wait time was + 25 minutes from reservations
Service needs to improve - I requested a high chair, never received it.
Waitress service was long - my sons rice bowl came late, refills had to be followed up
Great way to celebrate my birthday!
You sit at a table with other diners. The other diners had an allergy and because of that we didn’t get the full experience you are suppose to get when going to Benihana. I wish they asked us if we minded before seating us. We never got the app and my children were fed first.
Place was extremely busy and has lost its appeal over the years. Service was completely on cramming in people to a table. They were rushing to get the orders without allowing people ample time to review the menu. Their current approach makes it more like a food processing line and I would not call their approach a reasonable dining experience. We were also told they only take pictures for birthdays, not that we needed it but it was another event to our family. Just poor restaurant management all around as the management was more concerned with tables being turned and less on customer satisfaction.
I brought my grandniece here as she wanted to celebrate her birthday at Benihana. This was my worse Benihana experience as far as a specific is concerned. I have visited the restaurant all they way from Hawaii to the continental USA. Cook was confused all the time and seem he wanted to just get done and go ( I get it he is tired ). If waitresses agreed on singing a birthday song to my niece when we brought the dessert with a candle, they should do it correctly. One of them was rolling eyes showing annoyance doing it... another one was mumbling her annoyance as she approached the table. Really simple, they were not in the mood they shouldn’t have done it. My grandniece saw and we all got irritated.
Just be more careful with your your business etiquette. For you we were and are just more customers, for us it is memories we come to celebrate at your place . I’ll come back to eat for sure but never to celebrate anything again
Very disappointed in the gluten free option. Cooking gluten free on a grill covered in gluten sauce!? Cook was extremely ignorent to cater to my guest.
