Food was good, Family had a Great time. I have not been in years and the “experience” as it use to be Great but now it is lackluster, which is a shame as that is why I chose the restaurant. They were out of a few drinks and did not have scallops. The Bathroom was horrible. If that is not taken care of then how is the kitchen??????

I was very disappointed with Benhiana when they wanted to charge $2 for a scoop of butter. Another customer asked for hot sauce and that was also a cost of $2. My bill was $143 for 2 people. I didn’t purchase the scoop of butter for $2.

Yesterday was by far one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at Benihana. I opted out of the hibachi table to avoid the usual delays and theatrics, thinking it would speed things up if we just sat at a regular table and had our food brought out. That plan backfired completely. The waitress took our order and then vanished for what felt like forever. When she finally returned, not only was the wait ridiculous, but everyone’s order was wrong. She made no effort to correct the mistakes or accommodate us—we had to escalate things to the manager just to get a few items fixed. But by that time, the experience was already ruined. To make matters worse, she dropped the bill on our table without even asking if we wanted dessert or anything else—something that has never happened in any of my previous visits. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever return to the Benihana in Manhasset after this. Completely disappointed.

We made a reservation through OpenTable and visited Benihana Manhasset with my husband. As a personal lifestyle choice, we are a child-free couple — not out of discrimination, but simply preference. Although the restaurant was only half full when we arrived, we were seated at a teppanyaki chef’s table that was already occupied by two large families with around 10–12 children, most of them under the age of 4. These were the only two empty seats at that table, and we were placed right in the middle. Shortly after, one of the families asked if we could move to the next table — not because of us, but because they had miscalculated their seating and the boys in their group wanted to sit with their fathers. The next table was also part of the same group, only with the mothers and daughters — so the overall environment remained exactly the same. Unfortunately, the experience was incredibly overwhelming — filled with loud screaming, crying, running around, and even physical altercations between some of the children. As two adults caught in the middle of what felt like a chaotic kindergarten, we asked for our meals to be packed as soon as they were cooked. We skipped the included ice cream and tea, paid the check, and quite literally rushed out. We ended up sitting in silence in our car for 30 minutes just to decompress. We fully understand that families go out to enjoy meals with their children — and this is by no means a complaint about kids being kids. But we do believe the restaurant should handle seating with more consideration. Especially when many other tables are open, guests should be asked if they’d feel comfortable at such a lively table. It was, unfortunately, a truly disappointing experience for us.

Our hibachi chef was honestly just not good. I don’t ever want to discredit someone’s job but he seriously needs to go back to the hibachi academy. Everything he did was sloppy between cooking, making a mess all over the table, transferring the food from the hibachi grill to your plate. at the end of the meal there was vegetables, shrimp, zucchini all over the table from him transferring. Wasting food that I’m paying for!! we had to beg and ask numerous times for garlic butter. All the meats were overcooked shrimp was rubber. Did not put on a fun show.

We were excited to come to this hibachi establishment because they served tofu and accommodated vegetarians. The waitress was amazing. Friendly, professional and attentive. Our chef whose name tag read “chow” on it was ehhhhhh to say the least. It was my daughter’s 7th birthday and she loves hibachi. The experience means the world to her. He did the one volcano trick and putting food in his hat trick and nothing else at all. Totally disappointing. Then I ordered food to go and he forgot to do it. So the waitress tried to remind him and he got annoyed with her. And 3rd he made the tofu for my meal without wiping off the table and used the same cooking utensils he was using for the steak and shrimp on the tofu when we clearly stated it should be separated. It was overall a poor experience. We will continue to take our talents to arirang although they don’t have tofu options whenever we mention we are vegan or vegetarian. They switch out utensils, clean the area completely or they do our meal first and everything else after.
