Benihana - Lombard Ratings and Reviews
We have always loved Benihana’s, but unfortunately they have changed their portions. You’re basically getting less food now in your entree for the same amount of money. The chef we had confirmed it because we asked him after we noticed that we didn’t get as many scallops as we usually do in our surf side dish. Regardless, still always a yummy place to eat... but wish either the bigger portions came back and/or lower the price then!
Dinner was very good and it was an enjoyable experience. The chefs grill at your table and are very entertaining. Only negative was the wait. They had difficulty finding our Open Table reservation. The seated us about 15 - 20 minutes after our reserved time. The chef didn't arrive to our table until about 40 - 45 minutes after we sat down. It seems it was more of an issue of being understaffed as there were several empty grills/tables.
The restaurant as always was very entertaining as well as the food prepared perfectly. The ambiance is nice as well as the cooks as they're preparing your meal, entertain you. It is a very nice place to go for a change of pace dining experience. We go there periodically and enjoy it very much. Would recommend the restaurant to others!
enjoyed the company of others at the table the chef was very good and accomidating it like the food except the white rice was vary dry should have offerd some butter or gravy with the rice the steak could be a little more flaverful but was good tender would take take my kids when i have time and money to show them a new experiance
I've been to other hibachi grill restaurants and I was expecting the same level of quality from Benihana. Although the ambience and service were great, my friends and I were very disappointed with the food. The meats were under seasoned, the only vegetables served were onions and zucchini and the sauces were not at all tasty. Entertained, yes. Pleased, no.
We have celebrated my daughters birthday every year here and it has always been a great experience! However this visit as every year we where celebrating my daughters birthday and she was excited to receive her birthday mug however we had to pay for it first time in 4 years we had to pay for the mug since we have started the collecting the mugs as a birthday memory. This was my only disappointment!
It was odd. They asked if we wanted steamed rice or fried rice. We all said steamed. Then we were almost done with our dinner and I asked the chef guy - don’t we get rice? Then a lady ran two bowls over for 7 people? Then we said we needed more.
How can a Japanese Steak house forget the rice? That is really strange.
When ordering off the lunch express menu they gave us salad instead of the soup noted and kept explaining how the bento box was to be ordered when it was supposed to be create your own and was being ordered from options noted on the menu. Wait staff kept correcting the choices until we just gave in. More importantly, they don't have the yum yum shrimp sauce!!!! Given it's a national chain we assumed that was a given. Will stick to Benihanas in Minnesota.
The hostess in the front is the most incompetent person I have ever met. I had a reservation which was ignored, she sat everyone who walked in with us and people who came after us before us. Mind you, I had a party of five, yes not a whole table, but for a 8 person table 5/8 is pretty FULL in my book. I asked her for a separate table she refused. Said I would have to wait too long. One half hour after waiting after my reserved time, I was given a separate table. So, why was that so hard in the first place? This girl has given me attitude before I’m the past and today was no different. Just ruins your whole dining experience especially before you have even sat down.
Food great over all. The servers were okay. Most of them were great, however felt rushed at the end.
This restaurant was very disappointing. First they could not get my table request right - we just wanted to sit at a non-grill table, but they kept trying to seat us at a booth however my aunt had just had shoulder surgery and needed a regular table. They apparently could not comprehend this. After waiting for a “regular table” for 20 minutes, thinking we were getting one with four chairs, we were taken to a grill table. So we gave up and just did the hibachi meal even though we hadn’t wanted that. The “chef” did such a half-hearted job with the performance; it was like he didn’t care to be there. The food was terrible - cooked in gobs of butter and way over-salted and somehow still flavorless. The restaurant itself was shabby and badly lit. There was nothing enjoyable about this experience.
The restaurant was really basic. In order to make your food complete, you have to pay for add ons. The soup and salad was horrible!! We had to wait a half hour after our reservation to be seated. The chefs were under staff(which is something others said happen quite often), and it was 1 waitor to a whole side (7 tables)! I came for my birthday and they would let me use the coupon, because it wasn’t printed well. Never Again!
I would have enjoyed by food better if my order was correct.....not able to eat (onions, black pepper, lemon or garlic) seasoning I asked for my food to be cooked without the seasoning but the cook used the same utensils to cook my food as the other which left me not feeling well.
The rice and shrimp was cold by the time my other meats were done and the shrimp was tough.
Love the place.....this experience was just not good for me.
