Benihana - Lombard
Our chef was so heavy handed with oil on everything! Consistency chef to chef has changed in the last year and not in a good way.
Food was good as always, but the service was really lacking. My family comes here every year for Father's Day and every year we have something to complain about. I understand it is a holiday and a busy day, but we weren't even given our rice, which is a staple of the meal. We may have to consider visiting a different restaurant next year. For their prices, someone should at least stop by and ask if you need a refill of your drink.
Great service and food was seasoned well by Alex. The person taking the order was good as well.
We celebrated my birthday. Our chef, David, did an OUTSTANDING job on EVERYTHING!! Even my 5 year old granddaughter was impressed. GREAT JOB, DAVID!!
The food was perfect...everything was fresh...the shrimp, steak, chicken and veggies...all made to order right in front of you. Drinks were great too! Everyone had fun and enjoyed their meals. Looking forward to our next visit!
Benihana is our most favorite place to eat.Our 10 years old daughter is a bit picky but not at Benihana. She loves all the performances before cooking and we having fun to watch the show too.Love this place!
It was delicious and our cook Jim was friendly and the host was efficient made my moms birthday experience great we will be back
Always great food and service here. The staff is friendly and engaging with the crowd. We come here for all our major events and it never disappoints. It's a great place for family and all ages can enjoy.
It was excellent all around! I had a great experience!
Pre-Father’s Day Dinner Date
We used the birthday coupon, definitely sign up for the birthday club, best birthday deal in town! You get $30 worth of free food if you bring a friend .
The food was excellent, the service was excellent and the chef put on a great show!
Birthday, they didn’t give us our photo tho
The $30 certificate great for birthday and location
The cook was really late after 1 hour. Server was nice but overal slow
Father Sons meal, celebrating sons academic accomplishments. Everything was amazing chef cooked the food perfect without using a ton of oil and butter. Food flavorful and excellent service.
Very authentic and Good food. We are here every other month coz their soup and sidhi are The best
The waiter was very nasty.
very disappointed - food was burned - grill to hot - not a great experience.
Never heard of a Japanese Steakhouse that only uses Soy Sauce on request and requires a manager approval, not to mention using Kikkoman, and yes, this includes the fried rice which costs extra!
With that said the food was okay. The chef did what he could with the restrictions he had to work with and multiple customer demands and expectations, and the waitress was the best I’ve seen in a Japanese Steakhouse (very attentive).
The hood was gross above the table with grease dripping onto the cooking surface before the food was brought out. I was waiting for more drops to fall on my daughters plate. Table surface was sticky and greasy as well.
I wouldn’t recommend to anyone who is trying to waste $40 per person. Spend a few extra bucks and go to Chama Gaucha in Downers Grove.
Service was great!
Fun time, food was great and chef was very entertaining.
Bathrooms were backed up they had roto rooter there.. we didn't notice till the end of our meal when we had to go to the bathroom..All 6 of us got sick. We had to run to Chicago fil a to use the bathroom and were sick for 2 days
came in for my birthday dinner, everything was fantastic as usual. delicious food, fun atmosphere!
Great food, great service as usual! Unlike some other hibachi type restaurants, Benihana uses butter to cook the rice and seafood! Some use oil to cook the rice and meat, and you can definitely taste the difference! Will return with my family ( my grandson would love the show)!
It was the normal experience. Food was tasty and service friendly.
I love Behinana and have been coming to this location for 25 years. On this occasion, my birthday, I had the worst service I've ever received there. I think it might have been the server's first day. Food was great as always. Sam, our chef, was amazing.
If you've been to Benihana a few times, you know that the chefs use the same method and therefore the food taste/ quality is generally consistent. However, every once in a while, a chef will prepare a meal that is half a step superior to the typical. Adan prepared just such a meal - and with a pleasant demeanor that essentially made up for the less than desirable attitude of our server. The server was only pleasant - in fact, overtly pleasant - once she saw our decent tips, which obviously would have been more generous given a warmer welcome on her behalf. We likely dine at this Benihana more often than most patrons. Any other establish would fully recognize regulars and treat them accordingly. This review would have recieved an "Outstanding" rating if not for our server. I recommend the "Benihana Special" if you enjoy surf and turf or the "Ocean Treasure" if you learn more towards all seafood.
Great time with family, plan on returning .
It seems like the hood vents need some maintenance because the smoke in the restaurant was very noticeable. Our server, even though he was nice and polite, was very quiet and almost shy, couldn’t understand his questions or answers, which made ordering very difficult. Also, while I’m not doubting the sanitation levels of the Benihana’s employees, they kept slipping their thumbs on the inside of the bowls anytime they were passing out the food. Just to be picky, the carpet needs a good steaming, it was very greasy/sticky. The food was great and the chefs skills always entertaining, but there is definite room for improvement.
Everything was very yummy! Our chef Angel was excellent.
Only negative was the women’s bathroom was dirty with little toilet paper and messy.
We love the food here but were very disappointed with the service. The restaurant was very busy and they crowded our group of 11 at one table which was very uncomfortable. (Table meant for 7) We asked to be split and they said it would be an even longer wait. (Even though we had reservations) The worst part was that it took a half hour just to order drinks and then they forgot some of them. We finally just got up and went to bar to get our own drinks. It took about an hour to get our food started. Very disappointing. We love the food here so we would probably come again and chalk it up to just a bad day for them. Wish they would change their chef “show” though. They’ve been doing the same thing for years and it’s gotten old. They also need to clean and /or remodel because the restaurant is looking dirty and old.
We’ve been there several times. We had a patty of 10. We felt rushed to order this time. We did not understand a word the lady taking the order said other than “$4.00 more for chicken fried rice”. 4 of us got the chicken fried rice with 1 chicken breaststroke shared among the 4 of us. So do the math, $16,00 for chicken fried rice! Anyway, that had not happened before and I was not about to have a conversation with her about it. I think the chef was new too, he was rather boring and did not engage with us. Thank you
Great Service people was really nice good was excellent
Poor customer service esp person on front desk. The people serving are not able to explain the menu.
Wonderful time. Large portions for everyone. Great value. Lots of fun for all! Will highly recommend to anyone to make special occasions even more special. The servers are always entertaining.
We had a very nice Mother’s Day dinner. The food was excellent, the cook was very nice as were the servers. They just needed a few more servers to help out. Wait times between courses could have been better as well as the speed of drink orders and such. Overall a very nice experience. Well done
I have visited a few hibachi style restaurants prior to coming to this location and honestly I was disappointed. I made my reservations a five days before and was super excited because this is supposed to be the prime hibachi location and instead it was the worst. The food was not tasty, the price was not worth the quality, and the chef did not seem like he enjoyed working there even after my group tried to hype him up. There are so many other “small” hibachi restaurants to go to that offer a larger variety of plates and enthusiasts chef that I will not be returning to this restaurant regardless of location.
A very nice experience for our 23 wedding anniversary. Our chef put on a wonderful show for the table. the nice damily celebrating Mother’s day was a joy to share the experience with.
