Benihana - Las Colinas Ratings and Reviews
Service was very poor. The chef didn’t seem to excited that evening. Our server forgot our drinks and my steamed rice. We weren’t offered dessert at the end of our meal, they just brought us our check out. I thought they forgot about my girlfriends birthday because they brought us our bill and didn’t bring out ice cream or sing happy birthday until we were about to leave, they asked what ice cream she would like. Our server never came and took out dirty plates through the night, I actually got up and removed them from our table and put them on an empty table across from us. Don’t think I’ll return to this location, kind of ruined my experience with Benihana.
Although we go to Benihana Japanese Restaurant maybe twice per year, it is always a fun experience to have a show while our dinner is being prepared. We enjoy eating our meal in courses as the main course is being prepared. Soup, then Salad, followed by Rice, then the vegetables and finally the main dish. It gives a group time to visit and enjoy each other during the course of the meal instead of everything landing in front of you all at once.
This was for my Birthday and the worst experience ever. There were 4 of us and we had reservations weeks in advance but still had to wait over 30 minutes to be seated. They were still waiting on others to join our table, so they did not get started for over 1 hour. The chef was mediocre as well as the food and certainly not worth $160.00. I did not feel special at all and to top it off we became violently ill and this could have been due to how unclean the entire restaurant was from outside to inside. We will not be going back ever!
Fun as always, but I was a little disappointed with the food. It was "good" but not "great". Veggies were under-seasoned and not as plentiful as I remember. Also they changed the mustard sauce to some sort of mayonnaise-based sauce and that was a big mistake. The other one was so much better. Location seems to be getting a little run-down too.
Chef wasn't entertaining at all. Hardly any rice. Chef cooked with tons of salt making it unbearable to eat.
I've been to several hibachi restaurants before and even a Benihana but this one was definitely the worst experience ever. Plus the waitress was horrible. Absolutely terrible experience for my family.
I wanted to tk my boyfriend to a nice cozy place with great food and that had an upscale atmosphere. Your location was nothing like the website. My boyfriend was pleased w my choice until we arrived. We has reservations at 8:30 & was not seated til almost an hr later. We almost left for several reasons which I will list, but we were too tired. 1) floors were very dirty w trash and food, 2) the long wait since I had made reservations over 2 wks in advance, 3) the grill wasn't cleaned before seating us, 4) The chef was nice but not the normal one you would expect because he was a bit clumsy so we were a big nervous when he was juggling the large knives, 5) the hibachi steak was SUPER tough, the chicken was VERY gristly, there were things on my plate that I said I didn't want and several others at the table had to have theirs changed. I just picked out the things I did not want which was time consuming and a Hassel. The only good thing was the ice cream. One ladys fork was so dirty it looked like it came from somebody else's plate so she had to send it back and her leftovers came back with added ingredients. I was so disappointed with this location and felt like I wasted $106.55 and that my boyfriend's bay was ruined! I even gave the 22% tip because despite the issues, the chef and server were nice.
Wish it was a quieter place as is always hard to hear Chef speak and converse with hibachi neighbors. Had always gone to JinBeh in the past, really love the ambiance there but food quality decreased and prices increased. If I could have food quality of Benihana and the ambiance of JinBeh I would dine that way at least once a month instead of once a year.
Went for Christmas Day. The wait was minimal due to Open Table reservations. Unfortunately the waitress was not attentive and extremely slow to bring requests. The meal was excellent but the Chef was messy but the nicest guy. Regardless, we had a great holiday dinner and will return soon.
I’ll start by saying the food was fantastic. Our cook was great, once he finally came to our table. I believe they were very busy (maybe short handed) because it was Christmas, and our cook didn’t come to our table until about an hour after we arrived. Our server was prompt when we sat down, but after that we rarely saw her. The manager did come out and apologize to us for the wait and was helping the server. All together it was a good experience, the food was wonderful and I enjoyed the atmosphere. I would definitely go back on a day that was not a holiday!
After reading very mixed reviews regarding this location I was very apprehensive about my upcoming birthday dinner. I was pleasantly surprised to find very attentive wait staff, friendly hostess and entertaining and talented chef. The food was excellent and the environment enjoyable. We did have a bit of a wait before our chef arrived but it was well worth it. I did not use the mens' facilities so I have no comment about that although my wife said the womens' appeared to be clean and well kept. The birthday song was a little disorganized and haphazard but nice just the same. I came for an entertaining delicious meal and that's what I received. So I was pleased with my visit to Benihana of Las Colinas.
First they say 10 people at one table. I couldn’t reach the table it was so crowded. Then I asked for my party to be moved and was told I would be put back on the list which to me ment I was going to wait longer. Then we sat down and it took 20 minutes for our cook to come over. He was awesome, very entertaining and did make the experience worth having. My family and I live Benihana in Dallas (we go there all the time). The one in Irving not so much
Poor venting resulted in most of the cooking smoke coming directly my way. Other tables didn't seem to have the issue. I learned it was a result of poor placement of an HVAC vent...it catches the smoke and redirects it before it is able to go to the vent hood. I've alerted the chain of the issue with this location. Also, the vent hood fan was so loud over our table, that we could not hear what was being said by other members of our party. I wouldn't recommend going back until the venting issue is nonexistent for each and every patron.
The waitress was overwhelmed with anything that was a special request... She delivered a bottle of wine unopened... had to go to the bar to get it opened and was treated as "last in line ".. steamed rice came 15 mins after the entree was served. Good was ok, service was lame
We were at a table with out a chef to cook for almost 40 min. Sitting there just waiting. The table across from us ended up leaving they waited so long. They had time to get frustrated and annoyed, make an alternate reservation, and then leave.
Our chef was new and didn’t realize someone with a seafood allergy should not have food cooked simultaneously with shrimp salmon and whitefish. (In the past they cook the allergy food first and then the rest. )
Our chef did not speak at all to myself and my date. Only spoke in spanish to the other two couples at the table.
Not my best experience there. It will probably be a while before i return.
Well I was supremely disappointed with what this restaurant has become. It was such a great meal in the past. The shrimp were tiny, the scallops were a joke not sure I got a filet mignon either. The table chef was a dope couldn't do anything fun or close to it, what happened!!
Wont be back and won't recommend same.
Bathroom was Filthy. they do not check it often enough. The Bar tables in the waiting area were always sticky and dirty. The bartender seemed like he didn't want to be there. Reservations not honored. Don't expect to sit down right away, you'll wait at least another 30-40 minutes before you get a table if you have reservations during dinner hours. Waitress disappeared for long periods of time. Chef was nice and quick. I am a vegan and they were willing to accommodate my dietary needs.
Great atmosphere. The waitress and chef were amazing. We were seated with a birthday party that was lots of fun. Food was cooked perfectly and super flavorful. Asked for steamed rice and never received it, however there was so much food that I didn’t mind terribly.
