Benihana - Indianapolis
They were 50 minutes late seating us after our reservation time. They had almost all new people and the service was slow as a result.
The silver lining of the evening was our Chef, Reynaldo, was very good and prepared the best meal I have had from that location in a very long time.
First date and they messed our order up really bad.
Very confortable with social distancing both in the waiting area and at the table
It took a long time before they served the food for our table. A table that arrived well after we sat down already had their food being prepared and they hadn't even brought out the soup for our table yet. This was our first time going here, and it may be our last time...
Our waiter was awesome I can’t remember his name but he has dreadlocks he was so attentive and I can tell he loves his job and people overall !!! It was me and my husbands anniversary !
Food better than the last few times we been there, however prices were higher. Disappointed. Will NOT be back for a while, decrease in prices send me a email n we will come more often
Not our normal experience, table chef was not entertaining and restaurant was very dirty.
Had to wait a hour before a cook came to cook. The server was complaining. He mention that they were short staff. That is a no go for customer service. The table busser was busing the table while we were sitting there she didn't have on any gloves while she was doing it. The whole experience was sorry. Think this may be may last time eating there. The time before this suck also.
Time with grandchildren!
Love Benihana from the service to the delicious food, will be going back soon
I was seated over 30
Minutes after my reservation and then they served two other tables before ours that were seated after us. I had to go look for plates and utensils for some seared at our table, and I did not receive the white rice I ordered until my meal was complete. The manager made no effort to make it right, just offered lame excuses as did our server. I will never eat at this restaurant again .
The food was great! The server was also really good. The only thing was when my check needed to be changed due to it being incorrect, we had to wait 20 minutes for the server to find the manager. He was no where to be found. We watched her look all over the building. Otherwise, the experience was good.
Had a 6:30 reservation for my mother's birthday and wasn't seated until after 8 pm to only eat at 9:30. Manager KEPT telling us the wait was another 10-15 minutes when in reality it would be hours. Guests from her party had to leave from the long wait. My aunt even went to the hospital from not eating for so long she is diabetic. Thank you guys for the most horrible experience ever. Would never recommend this place, not even to the homeless.
Waitress was terrible and gone for
Long periods of time. Chef was boring
Have had much better for less.
Do not trust in a once popular brand name. Not worth your time.
We went here for my daughter’s 8th birthday. We had a reservation for 5:45pm for 6 people. I tried to add my sister and her family (3 people) to make 9, days before. The manager said they could NOT do that due to Covid restrictions. I said ok. We arrive and we’re seated. The hostess proceeded to come to our table, pull down her mask, and tell us that they only had two waitresses available for that evening and things would be delayed . I explained that I could hear her just fine with her mask on and she should leave her mask up and on properly. We waited 30 minutes for our server to get our drink order while another table seated 20 min after us were already getting drinks from the other server. After the whole experience it wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t have staff due to Covid spread as most of the staff had issues with their masks. They were repeatedly touching them and pulling them down. A table of 9 people sat at one table next to us which I was told was not possible. Then a party of 12 came in while we were there. They had two hibachi tables facing each other. Those patrons were not wearing masks while they were up taking selfies and making tik tok videos all over the restaurant while no one said anything to them. All to say, this was not the Benihana experience we were hoping for. The hibachi show was lack luster missing most of the favorite parts my daughter loves. I get it, Covid has made things tricky. I know I’m taking a risk while eating out, but many other restaurants have done a much better job of keeping people safe. We will not be returning to this location.
We always go for the birthday celebration every year. This is the first year that I thought it was lacking. We waited for 45 minutes for food once we got to the table and ordered, it was really noisy which I understand but the bathroom floors were sticky and there was trash all around the outside of the restaurant. This is a favorite tradition of my family but it definitely didn’t measure up this year.
My favorite place to go because the food is really good.
The service was poor at this location. We stayed at the table over an hour waiting for the chef to come or anyone to bring soup and salads. We later found that our chef was new to the hibachi grilling. We were ok with that but he was extremely bad. He cooked the food in all the wrong orders, put shrimp on peoples plate who said they were allergic, and just taking FOREVER to cook. He wasted so much time trying to do the tricks that at this point we weren’t even interested in. The server seem more focused on other tables and the manager never came to check on us. Worst hibachi experience ever. Basically felt like I wasted $100 for a 2 and a half hour sit in. It was my first and last time ever trying Benihana.
Had reservations and still waited an hour to sit down. Waitress was awful. Did not get anyone order at the table right. After sitting still waited 45 minutes for drinks and soup. Was there an hour after they closed. Will not go back!!!
We started off by waiting almost 15 minutes after being seated for anyone to take our drink order. I ordered "COLD " Saki off the menu. It came out 20 minutes later. They said they had to chill it. It was luke warm when I got it. If you show "COLD" saki on the menu; you would think it would already be chilled. When the waitress brought bottle out she did not bring anything to drink it from. I had to ask. Then she brought out a pint BEER GLASS. I had to educate her that there are saki cups for that. I should not have to educate a waitress at a Japanese restaurant about saki. I don't blame the waitress. I blame the management for poor training. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, and the rest of my family ordered hibachi. The last of their meal was coming off the grill and I still did not have my sushi. My wife had to ask if I was going to get it. She did bring it out, but it was the worst sushi I have ever had. The rice was stale and the tuna was obviously not fresh at all. I only ate 2 pieces. I have had better sushi from Kroger. On a good note the rest of my family enjoyed their hibachi dinners. The hibachi cook was not flamboyant at all. That is something that usually goes along with the experience of that type of restaurant. This was our first time to a Benihana. I will not be going back.
Horrible service and food
It was good. Not a lot of people due to Covid but as always food was good. Just a little expensive.
We made reservations and were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation time. We sat at the hibachi table closest to the door, in the aisle, which was not ideal at all for us since the door was opening and closing and all the wind came straight to us. The hostess was helpful and very professional. The hibachi area of the restaurant was full and loud. We had to view the menus from our phones, so I recommend having an idea what you’d like prior to coming. The appetizers came after the soup and salad and all the food flowed well together so we weren’t overloaded at once with food or waiting around for the next course. The exotic mojito was very good and something different to try. I ordered the Land N Sea and my fiancé ordered the Deluxe treat. Both meals were so delicious and exceeded our expectations. Our dinners were to include dessert, but we didn’t remember until we left the restaurant and the server did not remember while we were there.
Overall the food was really good, the service could have been better and the restaurant should have been cleaner in my opinion. Definitely a great date night with great food.
This is not the Benihana I remember from a year ago. There was a police person sitting at the checkin, why??? The restaurant looked dingy and needs a huge face lift. It seemed dirty. It use to be a family favorite
We were ready to leave the restaurant but the server put us off till she waited on another table. She did not take off my birthday certificate so the bill had to be adjusted. This we waited! We came from 2 1/2 hrs away in southwest Indiana.
Definitely not what the Benihana experience should be. Not enough staff or chefs. Credit card was swiped for another parties bill. Chef didn’t know how to divide portions properly.
Will not be going back, at least not to the Indianapolis location.
Great experience it was my brothers birthday and he enjoyed it. Our server Trinity didn’t acknowledge his birthday but that was ok he still enjoyed his first time there! The Bentini and LIT was delish! We’ll definitely be back, we only had another couple at the table and we knew kept the guys!
A great place to eat and enjoy! We've went three times in a week.
This was my first time visiting. The ambiance was nice, however I feel it was over priced. The hibachi chef was not engaging, the food was good, but the serving size was not enough for the price.
This visit wasn't nearly as good as the last. We visited in late June for my birthday and had an amazing experience. Our chef was super nice and accommodating towards my young son and his picky palate, the employees sang to me and we got a birthday group picture, the food was good and so was our server. This time for my son's bday not quite as good, but still ok. Our server was outstanding, the manager was super friendly, but no singing, no picture and chef was super quiet and the food wasn't quite as good thi go around. In fact both my son and I got a bit "sick" to our stomachs when we got home. When we first sat down our grill had something burnt on it, so it didn't seem completely clean, the floors in the whole place were actually a bit dirty with food. I'm really not trying to complain, but we were expecting another experience like the last time. This visit didn't live up to the hype from our first visit.
The waitress still waiting on us was very rude and nasty we received our ice cream before we got our meal, served then when I try to talk to the manager the waitress continue to be rude
This was the worst experience I have ever had at Benihanas and I come 4to 5 time a year I have never had an experience like the one I had and it was my birthday
They got both my husbands and my order wrong. Eventually made the right thing (crab legs and filet instead of shrimp and Benihana’s steak-horrible by the way) but was not happy by the end of the meal. Was comped $10 which is not even half of the steak I ordered, will not be going back.
We had a birthday party, and an excellent experience there with the staff. The server was very attentive and made sure that your drink never ran out, the chef did an excellent job
It was wonderful to get back in public in months.
Way too many new employees who have NO idea what Benihana is really about. The chef had no idea how to clean the grill properly. He also had to have instructions on how to cook. The wait staff felt it was “okay” to hand food to other people and ask them to pass it to the person who ordered it.
we were the first ones seated at 11;30 AM. it was noon when the salad arrived. 12;15 when the chef arrived. He was great and so was the food. Had to wait another 20 minutes for the check. Luckily we had cash so no wait for credit card to come back. slow service but great chef and food.
Understaffed and reservations are 745 and no one to table to cook for us until
After 9pm! Waitress tried her best and kept us with beverages and soup and salad but then we waited an hour for our person to cook the food.
It was not well
Kept, food on chairs and floor from previous guests. We have gone here for over 40 years, that may be our final
I fun experience definitely will go back
