Benihana - Indianapolis
Horrible service and horrible chef. Second time this has happened.
It was great as usual 😁
Mom and I had so much fun on Sunday. The staff was very helpful and very nice. Our chef flipped her utensils and had a great show for us while our food has been cooked. And the food was absolutely excellent! I had the fillet and it melted in my mouth. Mom enjoyed her shrimp and scallops too
It was an amazing experience! Can’t wait to come back!
Food wasn’t very good for the price, the chef we had didn’t really do any exciting tricks. Steak was tough to eat. That was our second time going, we won’t go back
The food and atmosphere were great. We had a fantastic and attentive waitress.
I've been to Benihana many times and this was not a good trip. They were short on cooks and it took almost 45 minutes before they came out to start cooking. Our "chef" was very much a beginner because the shrimp appetizer were different sizes and one piece was slightly underdone and some of the onions I had were burnt. We we were not offered all the sauces, just yum yum, and we had to ask for the others after she was done cooking. I'll go back, but if I have experience I will not.
It was dirty. The walls leading to the bathroom, the floor, the entryway.
Will NEVER go back!
Service was AWFUL!! We were there for over 2 hours and waited forever for anything. Then the chef came out and messed up all the food! Burnt the steak and forgot some stuff. Bill was wrong but we just paid it because we wanted to get out of there! Very very sad day!
This restaurant was incredibly gross. The tables were disgusting the menus were sticky and the floors were dirty. Our waiter seem to disappear for long periods of time And forgot things each time you came back to the table. Very disappointed!
I celebrated my birthday with my boyfriend and we had a wonderful time. Our chef was awesome with fixing our food and including us in the process. The food and service was excellent. I will be visiting again.
Food was great as always. A little pricy since you have to pay extra for fried rice. But again, great food.
Great lunch, food was delicious, service was great. We had a very skilled, friendly chef that made the experience top notch!
Had to ask for refills. Chef was inexperienced and so the show and dinner reflected. For party of 5 meal was $250 and felt over priced for quality of dinner. Was not the usual service we have received from this restaurant.
WE had a newer chef and she put SOOOOO much pepper on EVERYTHING I couldn't eat the vegetables or fried rice which I normally love. It was very disappointing The service was outstanding!!
You have changed the food with spices. Before it was soy sauce and salt. Now you load the food with pepper and sesame (?) and it was not good. The Hibachi filet is my favorite food, but the flavor was ruined with loaded pepper and sesame. Way too much. I prefer none. But they shook and shook it on too much. This was not part of the food preparation in previous years. Was not happy. I noticed you weren't as busy as years before as well, not sure if this is part of the reason. I know a lot of people like spices, but if you were doing well over the years, I recommend you stick with the delicious meals you used to serve without the loaded pepper, etc
Awesome place for a wonderful dinner! Great food, service and the chef was very entertaining! Will definitely go back!
I’ve never had a bad experience but the server Jerome or Jermaine was not very friendly this time and the food was a bit over cooked and tasted like the pad he used to scrape the grill. Not a good taste at all. I will return but will make sure to request specific servers.
The service and staff were very accommodating. Enjoyed it very much.
Service wasn’t that good. When you got to a hibachi restaurant and order hibachi you expect hibachi. What you don’t want is some butter and some spices or just squeeze a little lemon on it. Definitely won’t be going back
Music was over powering, especially when in addition to the fans over the grill. Hard to hear the person sitting next to me talk, Always like the entertainment of the chef.
Couldn't do special food requests. didn't get dessert that was part of meal. Cook was only so-so for a show. Very very loud ambiance - hard to hear server.
The place is worn down. The skills of the cooks are not what they used to be.
Will not return back it was very unpleasant and all we kept getting were excuses to why everything wasn’t right .
I thought our chef could have been more entertaining.
Chef needs more training, noise level from equipment needs to be reduced, cleanliness needs to be improved. At present, this location does not represent the Benihana brand in a positive way.
Service was good, except our server kept disappearing today. We waiting a little longer on simple things. But I’ll still be back. Still one of my favorite places to eat
The saga continues...more to come! For now, the monstrous mai tai bowl!
So this was a really fun night!! First, mai tai bowl...tasted bomb! Just the right amount of sweet and decorated nicely with fresh pineapples and cherries. The bowl is half filled with ice. They do require that 2 people are sharing if you order a bowl, but it's plenty for 2 people drinking in moderation.
We started off with miso soup...its like a very light broth with a sprinkle of green onions, a sprinkle of onion straws and a single mushroom cut into 3 pieces 🤦🏾♀️ hey, I like mushrooms so I always wish there were more lol Either way, the soup is good but leaves you wanting more so then in comes the house salad with this sweet and tangy salad dressing like thousand island meets light honey mustard maybe. Its a thin sauce and the salad is crisp, just how I like it but still, I wanted more. To my rescue came our chef, Reynoldo! He kept us laughing the entire night! We are a lively bunch (or maybe I'm just rowdy by myself...idk) but he hung right in there with us on the jokes! It made it a lot of fun. More importantly, he did a great job on the food. I had the Hibachi Delight which included hibachi chicken fried rice, a hibachi chicken breast, hibachi shrimp, sauteed mushrooms (enough for mushroom lovers), sauteed zucchini and onions.
This was topped off with our choice of ice cream for dessert. I declined the ice cream but had the sherbet earlier in the week and it's my favorite ice cream so I'm partial lol.
This was a good experience. The staff in front seemed a little immature/untrained. The service at the table wasn't the best but it looked like the server was working a lot of tables by herself so I know she was doing her best and had a good attitude. It wasn't bad service, I just think they may have gotten a little lax and should probably raise the standard a bit for the price of the experience. The food was really good though...large entree portions...I couldn't eat all mine.
Celebrated my birthday here. The food, entertainment and ambiance was great. It is family oriented and we love that. Great place!
Everything was great! We had a new cook that didnt know a lot of tricks, but he had a great attitude and even tried! The food was delicious!
First of all everyone does not like salad dressing so when you state you don't eat salad dressing it should be replaced. Secondly when the chiefs are cleaning off the grill they should splatter the grease toward them. I am sure if they reviewed the camera it would show it. When I told he chief he really did not reply he just looked at her funny so I decided to speak to the manager since I am the parent. We were celebrating my youngest 18 year birthday and journey as a freshman in college. So when the lady manager came over she was nice but very very loud. My oldest (who was the one the grease splattered) is a introvert so she began to get loud my daughter was very reluctant to speak with her. So then she took at picture of us for my youngest birthday it was blurry. I would think after our lukewarm food/portion size and my daughters burns on her shoulder that she would have checked the picture. I have been to several hibachi grill and normally go to Castleton Square area but Benihana was my daughters choice. Sorry I don't think I would ever return.
I frequent Benihana in other cities and this location by far is the worst. The air has not been working for months so it is so hot and loud due to the portable air conditioner. They are short staffed so the cook races through. It was gross watching the sweat roll off the poor guys face and I’m certain it dripped on to our food. The floor was dirty and sticky in areas. Very unhappy with my birthday dinner. The only good part about it was my was free.
Great meal and great service. A little smoky at our table due to the grill across from our table but overall a great experience.
I Felt like our server was either brand new or being pranked. After waiting for other people to fill the table I really wondered why we made reservations just to wait for other random people to be seated with us, not a big deal but frustrating. Our drink orders were taken I ordered Sake and what I received was maybe 6oz of warm sake in a small wine glass with no shot glass server was unsure of why this was given to her but I still had to ask for a shot glass for three shots worth or sake. My wife ordered sushi before we placed our food order it showed up after the dinner was cooked and served to us. The chef was shorted shrimp for the appetizer so one man had to wait until someone brought out more while everyone else was eating. Then we had to ask another server to find our server to get the checks for the table. After about 10 minutes she showed and delivered the checks and disappeared again long enough for one couple to replace their card payment with cash just so they could leave. The food was great which was the only highlight of the experience. Very sad as this was our 13 wedding anniversary dinner.
When ordering my second drink, on a Friday night no less, I was told they were out of tonic water. Later management stop by the table, at which time I mentioned it to them, yet did not seem very apologetic about the over sight of the restaurant not being adequately supplied for the weekend crowd.
Chef was not friendly at all. When he came to table he didn’t introduce himself, or double check food orders at table (which I’m use to). Therefore he proceeded to place meat and seafood on grill ( my husband has a shellfish allergy which we make very clear). My children were with us as well and didn’t enjoy this dinner. Usually they’re excited to see the small tricks and entertainment from the chef but didn’t receive any of that, in fact he made them uncomfortable, the lack of engagement and it completely change the vibe of our dinner.
3 temporary a/c units running and vented through ceiling...1 right by our table. Looks terrible. Ordered 2 appetizers and only received 1. 7 people in our party. The chef did 4 of the meals 1st and didn’t even start remaining 3 meals until 1st four were cooked. By the time remaining 3 got food, other 4 were done eating. The final 3 never got any rice with our meal. The server was non existent for this, drink refills, etc. Been here many time over the years, but this was our worst experience in any restaurant in a very long time. Clearly short-staffed. Sad. We were there for my daughters birthday that I indicated on the reservation and when we arrived. That was never acknowledged.
Great birthday fun. Try that plum wine. Amazing!
