Benihana - Indianapolis
Food was excellent as usual. Chef was not impressive but he cooked a very good meal. The servers were just ok. They seemed to be overworked because we had to request things multiple times. I enjoy the food so will probably go back. Suggest they train their servers better to serve well.
No! Benihana used to be the place to go in the Indy area for a great meal and experience. 2019 Not So Much! Sadly. Our reservation for four was at 645pm, we were not seated until 730pm. Once seated we waited another half an hour for drink service of basic water. No one ordered from the bar. Finally sometime after 930pm we demanded that the manager check us out at the front desk so that we could leave. The experience was awful. The manager tried to use the excuse that there was a convention in town... in the middle of the week... The food was average but not great. Our chef and waitstaff were clearly overworked which was not their fault. Benihana of Indianapolis is not what it used to be and the now deceased founder has rolled over in his grave. Poor management.
Love the experience but always have to wait!!
There is better value out there but this is a place to have a unique experience with friends and family
Our food and server was great we had a slow cook but she did her best to try to create a good service. Our waiter was very attentive and he also tried his best.
Reservation was @7:15 got there around 7:40 due to traffic and poor planning for lady I was taking on date they said I couldn’t be seated until 9pm due to not being on time so we ate on the other side spent 90 dollars on two ppl dining when we didn’t even get to see the show of them cooking our food in front of us
Good place, but disappointed we had a reservation and had to wait an hour. This has happened twice
Our reservations were for 430 and we did not even get our drinks until 545. The server was very friendly but also seemed a little overwhelmed and we had to pass everything around the table every time he came there to pick up or drop off something
I came to celebrate me 32nd birthday. From the moment I came in there. The hostess was extremely rude, she was an older woman with blonde hair. I asked to speak with the manager. The manger never came up to address any of my concerns. Our table had food allover and we had dirty plates. It was extremely disappointing. I have been at this location numerous and I have never have experienced horrible service at this location. Very disappointing.
Awesome food, service and atmosphere, I would recommend without question.
The chef (Jorge) did an excellent job of preparing the food! Truly on spot! The server would bring 1/3 of the table's food and then disappear...seemed confused and flustered... probably just a one time experience on that. It's always a fun place to go!
Always great food and a good experience when I go. We went for lunch on a Sunday after church.
The food was good but the service was extremely slow I waited an hour before the chef even cane and it was in the middle of the day
I celebrated my birthday here and it was horrible. My waitress was rude, I ordered a lemonade and never received it, I got brought a water but they had a lemonade on the bill. When the waitress did decide to come to the table she repeatedly reached over my food and drinks . I ordered steamed rice and never received it the cook at the table had to go to the back and get the rice for us. I had a 30 dollar bday coupon but only 20 was taken off the bill I paid the bill left a tip and I will never be returning!
Service was great!
We hadn't been to Benihana's in a couple of years. Really disappointed with our experience from the food to the service. All the food was a lesser quality. Really went downhill! The hibachi chef bored the kids. The server was annoyed when asked for water refills, then didn't bother to refill them. I'm sure my husband still tipped well, but we will never go back. There are plenty of excellent places who want the business.
Been a while since I have been to a Benihana I guess ... was bragging on it when I saw we were near one ... went with my wife and daughter for my wife’s b-day... it was dirty, smaller an average portions, inflexible (could not opt out of vegetables), orders were wrong , teppanyaki Cook was in a hurry and not Engaging or entertaining at all.... other than that it was great. If you want hibachi... go to a local one.... not worth the extra you pay for Benihana.
Overall this was a good experience. The Hibachi Cook was not prepared, and sent someone to the kitchen more than once to retrieve food items He forgot to place on his prep cart, so that the people at the table were almost finishing their meal before the White Rice was served. Mushrooms were late getting to the cook, because he forgot to get them and had to have someone else bring them out. He cooked the steaks on the grill in the same area where he previously cooked the salmon and had not cleaned the area first, not even ONE scrape. It was a special occasion for two guests at the table, and it was not the memorial experience I have been accustom to expect. Hopefully our next visit will have someone better prepared and experienced.
Benihana Indianapolis Ives the chain a bad name. They have the worst customer service I have ever come in contact with.
Made an appointment and was seated 40 mins late. They didn’t want to honor the lunch prices. The chef kept a bowl of our chicken fried rice that we paid extra for. We asked why did he do that and he said it was extra rice. The waitresses didn’t refill our beverages. I am a long time guest and this place has gone to hell!!! I am very disappointed. My group of 4 will not be coming back and neither should you
We went for my husband's birthday, which is his favorite place to eat for his birthday, so we had made reservations in advance. We were told that the whole party could not be more than 10 minutes late which I fully understand but we had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seated. I asked what the hold up was and the stewardess told me it was for lack of cooks. Once we were seated we had asked the waitress a few simple questions about the menu and she looked at us like she didn't have a clue. The restaurant was very busy but I was very disappointed with the overall service.
The food was OK but the chef asked us if we wanted mushrooms and 2 of us said yes and he had put enough mushrooms on the grill for 2 but I did not get any. Being they were so far behind we didn't get a chance to eat our soup before our salad arrived. We just felt like we were rushed through the whole evening. Not a very pleasant experience at all.
Wonderful time. Manager was present and lending a helping hand
Absolutely amazing as always
I wish I could have spent more time interacting and watching our server navigate the room she was soooooo efficient, pleasant, just personal enough, her suggestions about the menu selections were smart, well thought out, and on point. Based on what we shared with her and her response we took her suggestions from the appetizer to the entree and the dessert. All outstanding. The key lime desert is a bit to small it should be called a tart. She did share with the table even though it is said two can share she would not suggest it and she was sooooooo on point again. We spend a great deal of time traveling around experiencing all foods from finger delicacies to 7 course extravaganza. I am here to share this was a true A- . I would just make the suggestion only due to I do not enjoy anything chocolate, burnt carmel, or to cheesy. So very bias the key lime could have been bigger. Perfect size and taste Venetian hotel in Las Vegas or the bellagio hotel in Vegas can't go wrong with the key lime pie. Thank u.
The restaurant was packed with people waiting to be seated while several employees sat around staring at us and played on their phones. When asked why we weren’t being seated the hostess replied that she couldn’t find one or the waitresses. We waited 30 minutes to be seated then finally decided to leave and go to the Cheesecake Factory instead. The Cheesecake Factory was WONDERFUL!
We were checked in at arrival and then asked 4 times if we had a reservation. We waited 20 minutes to be seated. Others, who arrived after us, were seated before us. Our cook appeared new to the role. Although pleasant, she was slow so it took a long time to prepare the food. By the time she finished, some items were tough and overcooked while others were cold because they were the first items prepared.
Food was good, portions to price was unequal.
I went to dinner with my family for my birthday. I used a Chef's Table birthday certificate. The manager came over to our table, which we shared with another family and YELLED OUT VERY LOUDLY AND VERY RUDELY that my certificate could not be accepted because the bar code was not on the copy I provided. The woman was so loud that patrons from other tables around the restaurant turned completely around to see what was going on. I had no problem providing the correct paperwork, because I printed the certificate with the bar code as well. My issue is with the delivery of the news without an opportunity to immediately correct the issue. The manager embarrassed my family and I purposely and for her own pleasure. I had to find a waitress to take the correct copy back to the manager (who by the way NEVER returned to the table to offer any apology for her previous behavior). I am disgusted that this is the type of person your company employs. I absolutely LOVE Benihana's food, drinks and atmosphere and celebrate many occasions there with my family and friends. Following this incident, I will likely NEVER return to this location again just on principal. I will find a better place to spend my black dollars!
Just a horrible experience. The staff is terribly trained and the overall culture of the staff shows that the management staff has no value for client opinion. Because the restaurant is busy due to location and brand name the management shows they are woefully able to handle the traffic. The staff follows the manager’s lead and if issues arise, instead of admitting fault, apologizing and solving the issue they go on the attack. They show an obvious strategy that there is so much traffic that if they eliminate the problem another client will fill the spot. Problem is that over time that traffic will disappear because we will never return. Not to mention that if the traffic never stops coming, it’s just the wrong way to treat people. It’s incredible that the ownership does not know or do anything about this horrible culture.
The shrimp weren’t deveined... This is never happened before so I was just a little taken aback by that
Small portions for the price. $30 take out order and they forgot the rice. We also had to ask for rice while dining in. Need more veggies with entrees. Not a good place unless u want to fill up on noodles and rice if they bring u any. Decent experience but far below my expectations.
The staff was friendly and food average - SO expensive though and bathrooms are FILTHY and restaurant as a whole is FILTHY and I just won't go back
Excellent place to eat and very good service. I would highly recommend it to all.
Customer Service was horrible. I called in first to inquire about making reservations for my mom birthday dinner for 14 people. I was informed by the worker on the phone to make 2 reservations since each table holds 9 people and so everyone in my party could sit together. I get there and the woman told us that my party would not be seated together with 2 tables and that was per policy. Even after I informed her that that was not What i was told when I called. She never apologized on behalf of the worker and did not even try to accommodate us. She was very rude and nonchalant about the whole ordeal. I will not be coming back there ever and call corporate as well. Oh and did I mention that I have attended birthday dinners there before for other family and friends and they all sat together and had more than 14 people and yes I did mention that to the lady but she assured me that that couldn’t have been possible.
We waited a very long time for out food...they never brought out r salad...just overall bad service.
This was my first time to a Benihana and although the chef was good and food was good, the service was beyond horrendous!
Food was great. Just no music playing, bar smelled old... love the food just needs to be updated/remodeled
The only thing is I’m a frequent diner and I have yet to be sat on time for a reservation. It’s always 20 to 30 mins longer. When you bring kids it’s difficult as you plan for when they are hungry. Never an acknowledgement of being late.
