Benihana - Indianapolis
We made an 8:30pm reservation and arrived on time, we only had two in our party. We waited 7 minutes before we were checked in and there was two parties of 4 ahead of us waiting to be seated, PLUS a table of 8 already seated and waiting to be served. There were three open tables cleaned and 10 people waiting to be seated, by 8:45pm and still not have been seated, again with three open tables available, we decided to leave. We went to Ruth’s Chris instead, much better food and very fast service. This would’ve been my fiancé’s first time at Benihana, and unfortunately it was our last. It used to be such a great restaurant.
We had an excellent meal prepared by a wonderfully interactive chef who clearly loved his job. He mentioned that his Father was once a chef at that same Benihana. He was not only a great chef but incredibly friendly and very generous with the sauce! Our meal was prepared with care to perfection and made our daughter's birthday even more incredible. Thanks for a great evening!
I always go here 3 to 4 times a month for years food be fire facts
Went there for Father’s Day and Birthday dinner. Great experience!
It took the waiter one hour for them to get to the table I definitely won’t be back to that location again. I took my father for Father’s Day and he was very upset
Benihana’s has been one of my favorites for a long time. The last two times I’ve visited the Keystone location the service has absolutely been terrible. Even the chef at the table was aware of how bad the service has been. I’m not sure what’s going on or if they have new management but the hiring decisions have been abominable. Hopefully they fix this issue soon because Friday night their tables were empty.
Stymer service has gone downhill at this location! The new management team is very much trash The new staff need ms to be thoroughly trained and the chefs are sometimes rude.
Always great place for a birthday party
Well, I have been to lots of good Japanese restaurants and I had heard about Benihana for a long time and thought I’d give it a try. Overall it was just okay... maybe a tiller lower than average. The food tasted kind of dull. I mean there was definitely a taste to it but lacked the “ kick” compared to all of the Japanese restaurants I’ve been. The steak was cooked the way I wanted it but lacked that Japanese taste.
The place needs some serious makeover. New paintings maybe?? I don’t think the place has had makeover since it opened.
I will not be going back there again. Good staff though.
It was good the food was delicious
Great service, great food - too loud to have a good conversation
Service was so slow. It took forever to get a chef to the table. Once dinner was done it took forever to get our check.
We had a 6:00 reservation and got seated at 6:25, even after the 6:15 reservations. We sat 10 minutes before anyone took our drink order. Another 10 minutes for food order. Not enough servers working. Food was good but not good enough for a $126 bill for 3 adults and 1 child. We had 2 waters and 2 soft drinks too - no alcohol or dessert.
Sat with a bunch strangers and that wasn’t ideal for my anniversary setting.
Very good food. Very nice staff. My sister and I celebrated our bday here and they came out and sang and presented us with a picture they took of us as well a ice cream treat with a candle. It was a nice family experience.
We had reservations and were not seated on time. Other people with later reservations were seated before us. The service was terrible and took forever for anything. We asked twice for the soup to go that we paid for and it never came so we just left. Dessert was included with our meal and we weren’t even offered it. The dinner took 2.5 hours. The only good part about it was the food.
I believe our exhaust fan above the table was malfunctioning so I had a lot of steam/smoke in my face. Otherwise, delicious and fun!
Always consistently great food and fun experience.
We had a great time,
Very good service and food. The chief was great, we just love visiting there
Our chef, Soyol, was great :). She did a good job with the complicated orders and put on a fun show. She was also very considerate of the customers and would help get the attention of the waitstaff when they were busy.
It was my birthday dinner. I ordered the filet with two extra slices of zucchini ... I received two extra sides or something like that. Way more than the $1 a slice charge. And the filet was ordered MR and it came out well. I will still come as it is one of my favorite restaurants but was a bit disappointed in my meal.
Everything was great minus the host staff! Chief Andrew was funny and enthusiastic.
I ordered the hibachi filet mignon and scallops dinner entree and was highly disappointed. I was never asked my cook preference and my filet was like eating jerky, when my receipt arrived it showed both of our filets as ‘Well done’, who eats a $30+ filet mignon meal Well done?? My son was asked for the cook on his salmon and selected Medium, only to have the chef cook it to medium and proceed to cut it up and sear it to well done on all sides?? It was a very off experience food wise, not sure what happened but I’ll get my hibachi for less with the correct cook on my steak elsewhere moving forward.
Soyol is one of the WORST chefs there and doesn’t speak very good English, she was extremely confused by our order and refused to listen! The shrimp APPETIZER was made LAST after all the other food was made. She didn’t put on a show at all, didn’t even really acknowledge their were people at her table including kids. One of the worst times we have ever had and if you see her as your chef ask for another you don’t enjoy it.
This was the most miserable dining experience we've ever had with Open Table - service, food, atmosphere- AWFUL
Everyone was so kind and helpful with my mom who is in a wheelchair. From the hosts to the waitresses and the chef. Great experience!! Thank you!
Food quality, food prep and cost were not what was expected
Reservation time not honored. Wait time was excessive with a reservation. Food was bland. Chef wasn’t entertaining. Not worth the price. Izakayas is a MUCH better hibachi grill.
Prices are a bit high, and I would have waited even longer had I not kept asking if we would be seated, even though it was past the time for my reservation. If you order an extra side of rice with any type of meat, they'll just turn your regular order of rice into the "extra" side, and not bring out the normal white rice, unless you ask for it. Who does that?
The food was good , she did cut the chicken and steak in huge chunks so it was hard to eat. The fried rice was amazing, she put the right amount of flavor on it!!
Hadn’t been in 20 years (no exaggeration) - so good to go back. Great fun with the family! Great service and the food is delicious. And there’s lots of it - good for leftovers.
Food was excellent as usual. Chef was not impressive but he cooked a very good meal. The servers were just ok. They seemed to be overworked because we had to request things multiple times. I enjoy the food so will probably go back. Suggest they train their servers better to serve well.
No! Benihana used to be the place to go in the Indy area for a great meal and experience. 2019 Not So Much! Sadly. Our reservation for four was at 645pm, we were not seated until 730pm. Once seated we waited another half an hour for drink service of basic water. No one ordered from the bar. Finally sometime after 930pm we demanded that the manager check us out at the front desk so that we could leave. The experience was awful. The manager tried to use the excuse that there was a convention in town... in the middle of the week... The food was average but not great. Our chef and waitstaff were clearly overworked which was not their fault. Benihana of Indianapolis is not what it used to be and the now deceased founder has rolled over in his grave. Poor management.
Love the experience but always have to wait!!
There is better value out there but this is a place to have a unique experience with friends and family
Our food and server was great we had a slow cook but she did her best to try to create a good service. Our waiter was very attentive and he also tried his best.
Reservation was @7:15 got there around 7:40 due to traffic and poor planning for lady I was taking on date they said I couldn’t be seated until 9pm due to not being on time so we ate on the other side spent 90 dollars on two ppl dining when we didn’t even get to see the show of them cooking our food in front of us
Good place, but disappointed we had a reservation and had to wait an hour. This has happened twice
