Benihana - Houston Ratings and Reviews
Lots of fun and delicious food. Our cook at the hibachi table, Juan, made the food even more delicious than usual. We go regularly for various special occasions, and it is always good, but yesterday it was outstanding. The freshness and flavor were outstanding
The chef wasn’t entertaining in the slightest. The fried rice didn’t have great flavor and the dressing on the salad wasn’t my favorite compared to other hibatchi restaurants. My husband and I both ordered a six course meal, ending with ice cream or sorbet. They brought my birthday ice cream out but didn’t for my husband. I was expecting a lot better experience from Benihana.
The meal was great. The waiters were very attentive but they cheated us out of 2 of our courses hoping we didn’t read the menu. The meals come with hot green tea and the specialities section comes with ice cream in addition to the soup salad rice and entree. We did not receive either. Very disappointing.
Was disappointed on how the hostess would not leave room for one of my guest to join the table. Then she kept stating that all of my party had to be in the building but she seated another party that did not have everyone there. Also didnt like that they had a Holiday menu with a limited selection and that was not posted on the website because i checked before i made the reservation.
We had reservations at 6:30 party of 10 and we waited an additional 30 minutes to be seated. We were told to wait in the bar and they would call us. There was an empty table that needed to be cleaned it had food and napkins on it. The wait staff just kept walking by it as we stood next to it waiting for someone to clean it off so we could sit down. After 15 minutes I finally asked the waiter to clean it off. She took a rag and swept the loose food from the table onto the floor??? We won’t be going back. The restaurant was dirty. This was our 3rd year in a row going to Benihana’s for our kids birthday.
We were served by an obviously new cook. We have been before many times, and always loved it, but not this time. He cooked all out of order, and did only a few of the things that most cooks do that are fun and skillful.
The rice did not have anywhere near enough Soy Sauce, and we had to ask for more, and the whole table had us pass it around. Then we realized that he never gave us our two sauces for our main foods. He had served the main foods but said we had to speak to the waitress about the dishes for the sauces. Well, we could not find her. Finally, after a long time, I got up and found someone to bring the dishes for him to put the sauces on.
It was my wife's birthday, and they knew that, and they came and sang, took a picture, and then never gave it to us, or told us how to get it. The waitress came to me, and asked if I wanted ice cream and I said yes, thinking she was bringing something for my wife, and she neither asked my wife about ice cream or served her anything! We finally gave a low tip and left, really mad.
Great experience!!! A combination of food and entertainment, lots of choices, and the restaurant will customize an item to accommodate your preferences.
I would recommend taking a group there, a team builder or a large family gathering, and that way you can have an entire table. However, it’s always fun meeting new people too, so either way a fun time.
After many years of working retail at the holidays when I didn't have the energy to cook a big family meal at Christmas, Benihana has become our "traditional" Christmas dinner. This year was no exception. The host seated us promptly, the service was impeccable, and the food was delicious. We always enjoy the antics of the chef (who appeared to be unflappable when one of our fellow diners decided to micromanage his order) and the choreography that lets all the staff move around in close quarters.
I really appreciate that Benihana is open on Christmas for those of us who do not want to (or cannot) have a big meal at home.
Wanted to do something and go somewhere different for a change. My Grandson's birthday was attended by 18family and friends! What a treat! The food was great and the chef was entertaining. The wait wasn't long and the meal prices were very much affordable and tasty! Would recommend this for children as well and adults! Lol!
Cook was very old. We had to repeat our order 4 different times to him and the waitress. He still messed up our order. We ask for fried rice but was given chicken fried rice. He saw thw mistake and still didnt fix it. Was not energetic at all. We all were super bored at the table. Chef was constantly apologizing for his mistake.
Did not enjoy at all.
This an older Benihana Restaurant. It has a unique Japanese appearance on the outside. The food and show is the usual Benihana quality. There are fewer Japanese cooks these days so you need to get used to the idea that your chef will not oriental. If you are eating while families with small children eating that it may be quite noisy
I love Benihana just not this location. First of all, we had reservations at 8:30pm and weren't seated until well after 9pm. The food lacked flavor and the chef's presentation was sub par. The food was not seasoned well, despite asking the chef to add extra seasoning. The chef spent way too much time trying to do tricks that he was not good at, meanwhile overcooking the rice and steak. Our waiter must have been new, it took so long to serve our drinks and he didn't come back to replenish them until after the meal was done. At other locations, the specialty meals come with a choice of ice cream or serbert, but this location didn't provide it at all. The staff wasted ginger sauce on my friends legs and clothing and the manager didn't seem to care at all after I complained of the horrible service. This terrible dinner lasted nearly 3hrs. I know this service is not indicative of Benihana because I eat at the Sugar Land location all the time and have never had a horrible experience. I will come back, but not to this location.
