Benihana - Houston
There is a lot of hype surrounding Benihana. It's just not what I expected at all. The service wasn't bad. Our chef prepared everything step by step. I ordered chicken and steak. I got my steak about 30 minutes after I was done eating my chicken, which was getting cold while waiting. We got our grilled onions at the very end when we were asked if we wanted desert. The chef forgot about them. This a very overly hyped restaurant.
The food was good and the service OK. Yet the place was crowded and the traffic of people was not properly managed especially by the entrance. To have a better experience consider going after pick hours or avoid going on the weekend. Also, staff should consider explaining to new customers how the communal tables work, we had to do that with the family that was going to share the table with us because they thought the whole table was for them, yet the father of the family did not appreciate it and gave us an attitude when we tried to explain how it works. So to avoid any problems for customers, I think the host/hostess should ask customers first if they are new to the restaurant and if that is the case take the time to explain them how it works.
Waited for over an hour. Even if i had a reservation. Call on the phone and i was on hold over 20 minutes.
The service was sub par, and we didn’t get a few of the items that were supposed to be included in our meal. The food was great, otherwise.
Great food. They offer their signature Yum Yum sauce. Very attentive service!
Great place for lunch!!! Lots of tasty foods at an affordable price. Something for everyone in our group. We had salads, soup....spicy chicken....steak & shrimp.....salmon boat ..... & lots of great fried rice. Cooked to perfection while you enjoy the show. Tony our cook was great & funny!! Thanks .. you steal the show
Such delicious good and great service.
Made a reservation. I don’t know how long we waited to be seated, but a couple who came in way after us were seated at the next table. They did not have a reservation. Their chef began cooking at least ten minutes before ours did.
Always a fun experience, food was fantastic. Service great.one of our fzvirite spots to go
Waited 40 minutes for chef. Restaurant is dated. Food and service was great
Excellent service and great food
This is a very poorly managed restaurant. We were seated approximate 30 minutes behind the our reservation time. It easily took 15 minutes to get a glass of water and then the bar drinks came out at separate times. The cook was very slow and inexperienced. The portions were very obviously smaller than prior years. The birthday pictures (there was one for each birthday) were blurred and discolored. The complimentary birthday desert was a small bowl of partially melted vanilla ice cream (supposedly) with perhaps a teaspoon of chocolate syrup. Then to top is all off the bathrooms were a disgusting mess.
Very nice atmosphere to celebrate birthdays. The food is prepared by a chef in front of you if you find at the chefs table. Outstanding customer service.
This is the second time in two weeks I experienced subpar levels of service and food quality. Service was horrible: was extremely slow, took three reminders to get drink refills, didn’t know who ordered which flavors of ice cream, etc.. Chef was very clumsy: fried rice flew everywhere, underseasoned and overcooked. Shrimp was served uncut. Veggies were overcooked and burnt. Steaks were not cooked to requested temperature. Will give it another chance soon, but they need to shape up.
Fantastic and entertaining. A wonderful place to celebrate any occasion!
Birthday for my 12 year old
Extremely chaotic atmosphere. The restrooms were unacceptable standards. Smelled, sticky floors and towel on floor for leaks.
Server was inattentive but it was probably due to being overwhelmed. Would not go there again.
Food was ok. Very oily tasting and lack of vegetarian option at hibachi. At minimum you should try to have a vegetables versus only zucchini and onion. Overall one and done. It’s a chain hibachi. Nothing over whelming.
My favorite restaurant. Always look forward to celebrating my birthday there
Staff was wonderul. Food was very good. Atomosphere wonderful. Only complaint bathrom was not up to par
Food was great and service was very good
I brought my daughter there to celebrate her birthday. I was seated immediately even though I was late for my reservation at 5pm.. which I think was awesome. I must say though around our table there was food on the floor which I thought was a little tacky. However I didn't received the gift certificate for her birthday and it was very nice to have the employee to sing happy birthday she was very excited when they approach her table. I really enjoy the tea and I think you should serve it first then water then drinks. The fried rice could use some more shrimp 5 small shrimps and they cut to share for 3 person I would not called it fried rice is more like rice with a touch of shrimp overall it was ok.
The Chicken Fried Rice was done better than the Shrimp Fried Rice more Chinese Sauce and more chicken. The service was top notch thanks to the guy who serve our table, I forget his name but he is a gem to your establishment.
Celebrated daughter’s b-day and all was as expected - very good.
Benihana's on Westheimer in Houston is a perfect place! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique special dining experience. I have been going there for over 25 yrs and just love it. There is a manager there, Narone, who is just the most awesome, spectacular person at this location. I was absent from there for a very long time, yet, he still remembered me! This is an amazing establishment.
The food was incredibly salty and over cooked. My shrimp was very chewy and my wife’s seared tuna was cooked through. This was my first time to Benihana in years and it wasn’t what I remembered at all. Won’t be going back.
The staff was awesome, the Chef was entertaining and the as always was excellent.
Would not accept their own gift card. Had to use credit card to pay.
The staff was very accommodating to all our requests, we were celebrating my daughter's birthday. The food was excellent as always!
This is a good Hibachi restaurant. I was really hoping that it would be like a Hibachi spot I went to in another city but it wasn't. I was really looking for this sauce they used there that is so good. Overall I really like it and would definitely come back
I love this place, is never a disappointment. I highly recommend it. Food, service and ambiance are excellent!
Order was wrong, service was bad
Run down. Made a reservation still had to wait an additional 20 mins. Chef did nothing of a wow factor. Chef Barely spoke kids were bored. Nothing exciting at all will not be back.
We have been dining at this restaurant since 1993. This past Saturday’s visit was the absolute worst experience we’ve had. Ito was the chef at our table. Evidently, Ito knew the four-member family that sat at the same table with us. Unfortunately, Ito catered almost exclusively to that family while ignoring the rest of us. He hurriedly served us “under seasoned” chicken fried rice with skimpy portions and then he prepared the rest of the chicken fried rice by adding more butter, soy sauce, etc and served the other family in generous portions (which included over-stuffed take-home order) and giving the leftover portions to the same family. Shrimp and veggies were served in a similar manner. We will come back, but will definitely walk out if Ito should come to the table to cook.
We had a great time but the noise level was a 10 which was loud we couldn't really hear our cook
My husband and I decided to celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary and we enjoyed ourselves. We’ve gone to this location many times in the past and will continue to do so.
Always good entertainment and interaction with the chef. Love celebrating Birthdays here.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go on Valentine’s Day tables were overcrowded
We were there at a couple minutes before 8.. We were told we would have a 20 minute wait. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes. What is the point of a reservation? We were extremely crowded. Couldn't hardly move our arms. A guest at out table couldn't even push his seat up to the table. Another guest at the table complained. Nothing at all was done about our situation. My glass was broke, I requested another drink because I didn't want to take a chance with the broken glad. It took forever to bring me another drink. The manager was plain rude. Everyone on the table with us agreed. We couldn't believe how it seemed as if he didn't care at all. Many other tables had only 4 couples, so we didn't understand why we were literally squished in. I won't go back to this location. The only good thing was our cook.. And his service.
I think there is a management issue or something. It was me and my boyfriend's first time eating there, and I was excited from reading all the raving reviews. I made a reservation for 8 PM, when we got there they said it was going to be an additional 30 min wait. Which was fine it was Valentine's day they were slammed I understand. What I won't be understanding is the fact that we got seated at 8:30 and it wasn't until 9 that they actually came to our table to ask us for drink orders. Even then they wasted 30 min trying to find another couple to fit into our already overcrowded table. The tables themselves were meant to fit at most 8 people, but they were trying to cram 10 people into one table. The waitress was nice, the chef was entertaining, the food was good. But this restaurant is one of those places where if you don't know what your ordering you can get screwed. I ordered the Surf something, which was a lot of food for what it was. But my boyfriend ordered the Hibachi Shrimp, it was basically 10 pieces of shrimp for 28 dollars. What a rip off. Overall, sufficient to say my valentines day was ruined.
Terrific nite..We were not seated on time due to Valentine's Day,which is understandable, but overall it was very nice.
Always a great experience. It was daughter's first time and she really loved it. She enjoyed the showmanship by our chef and really enjoyed the food. Valentine's day dinner was a huge success thanks to Benihana-Westheimer in Houston.
