Benihana - Fort Lauderdale Ratings and Reviews
So for the first time in 30 years I had a poor experience at this location. Tonight's dinner was very disappointing. The server was so slow we sat and after hour later no food. The soup came and was cold and then the salad came. The main course was great but they really are cutting back on the veggies. They gave us four slivers of zucchini and an onion cut up. No sprouts or noodles and was told by chef that was Japan inn. Every time another chef passed the table our chef grunted. Very weird. Needless to say we were shocked about the lack of service and our reservation was at 7;30 and we sat at 8;05. If the bartender didn't walk up to ask why we weren't called we would still be waiting. Sad that Benihana accepts this type of mediocre service from the people who work
I have been dinning at Benihana once or twice a year as far back as I can remember. Fortunately or unfortunately my kids love to go to dinner at Benihana for their birthdays etc. With that said, our last visit was one which will not have us rushing back anytime soon! The start was waiting 30 min past our reservation time to be seated (what is the purpose of a reservation if you are not going to stick to them. Keep in mind it was a 6:30 reservation not 8pm). Then once we were seated it took 40min to receive our drink order. ( How hard is it to prepare a martini and a glass on wine)! Needless to say this was just the start of what continued to be a memorable evening. Let’s not forget the lifeless personality of the hibachi chef who look about as thrilled to be there as someone going for a root canal. As you can tell it was a great experience from beginning to end. Fortunately for me and my wife our kids didn’t know the difference but for us, it was a complete waste of $150 plus dollars and we won’t be going back anytime soon.
My favorite restaurant! This experience was a little different, food was great but service was not, waited an hour at the table when chef arrived table was cold had to wait another 20mins for it to heat up. manager only offered free drinks after other guest was complaining really loud
Our chef was amazing. The food was spectacular. Our server on the other hand left a lot to be desired. She was very short with me when I would ask for things. My boyfriend waited 35 minutes for a glass of water. When she brought my check I put down cash with a tip included. She then brought a second bill with the last drinks we'd ordered. It was $20.57 so I handed her another $20. She says in front of an entire table of people "where's my $.57?". I couldn't believe she would be that forward and rude over $.57 so I told her to take it out of her tip.
Food was great with an entertaining chef. Service from waiters was really slow. Hostess on the rude side. Ended up okay but was a party of six guys for a birthday. Asked hostess for our own table of six. Was told no not an option. Upon seating looked around the restaurant and there were two tables of six and one of seven. Must of been only allowed when convenient to Benihana.
Made a reservation for 8:15 had to wait an additional hour to be seated. We were 5 and seated at a small table as 2 others were added to the table. Had a birthday discount, they took when seated ad returned 30 minutes later and said that coupon could not be redeemed due to it not being redeemed more than 24 hours after signing up for offer. Very loud , saw 2 different customers making a complaint to management and food was ok, nothing special.
The chief was nice but the food lacked flavor. The best was the fried rice. The scenery is wonderful the staff was helpful. But the drunk man in the party beside us left a poor taste in my mouth. He tried to start something with my boyfriends husband and security had to monitor him as we finished our dinner because him and his party were drunk.
Wouldn't go again for the quality of food. Drinks were great though.
I made a 2:00 reservation, we waited 45 minutes to be seated, there were several tables open, when we were finally seated, we waited 48 minutes and then I contacted a manager, he then went to get a chef for our table, the two tables that were seated after us received a chef before us also, our server forgot my appetizer, she forgot my refill, she spilled the drink on my boyfriend, the chef did not entertain, it wasn't very pleasant, I won't recommend this restaurant to anyone. This is the second bad experience I've had, the manager remembered me from the last bad experience and credited my $70 tab with $20 how generous right? It really wasn't. The first visit was way worse but it was over 6 months ago so I guess it never gets better
we had a fab chef , but our waitress was awful she never came around , we waited almost 20-30 min for drinks. we had to search for her, the entire table had complaints against her. our dishes where left next to us the entire time we ate . we did not like the fact that we could not tip the chef by himself . what ever tip we gave he had to share with the waitress and that is something we where all upset about, she did not deserve any tip. i am a very patient and understanding person but i do believe we tip for the service , but in a restaurant that is so busy like Benihana she was terrible. In the end i had to take my food to go as we had a movie to see , i gave myself 2 hrs and she wasted half hour in the beginning and then never came back for another 20 min to take our order. Worst service .
But Philip our Chef was funny , chatty and did an amazing job with the food.
Are waitresses wonderful and the servers and the bar were excellent our only issue was that we had quite an older gentleman as our chef and he kept forgetting certain things like I was allergic to shellfish, i had to remind him as he put the sheimp on the grill with the vegetables. My son always gets the same thing I guess seafood and noodles and they always ask him how hot or how mild he likes it this guy just put it on his plate and did not ask him. He wasn't d the same caliber of Chef as we have had there in the past. We do love the food there and love the service and this is the first time in probably 10 years we have ever had a problem there.
The restaurant smells. The carpet needs to be cleaned. The chairs and tables were sticky and greasy. The women's restroom toilet was over flowing. Our waitress was terrible, she didn't bus the table. We had to put or dishes over on an empty table. The food was good. The chef did a good job. But the service sucked, the place was dirt y and he management wasn't helpful. For the prices they charge, we expected more. We will not be returning
This was my second time going to this Benihana location as it has an amazing view of the channel. The cook was funny and the food was tasty. My only problem was that their special menu insert was incorrectly priced. We ordered an item off of the specialty menu because it was listed as one price, however when we received the bill, it was $3.25 more. We notified the server, who in turn notified the manager. The manager explained that the price was a typo and that she would take care of it. When the new bill came she only took off a "manager's special" $2.00 coupon and not the 3.25 difference. It you go to this branch, make sure you check your bill at the end of the meal.
