Fun to come to Benihana with a group. the birthday drum is a bit much, but we had a great time.

Service was slow. Ordered filet and shrimp and they changed the quality of the shrimp and they sucked. Couldn’t eat them they were so bad. I told the waitress about it but she didn’t give a hoot. Paid for the meal but as far as I am concerned, Benihana owes me a shrimp dinner or shrimp appetizer at the least. You guys need to train the staff on what customer service means. I have been a customer for over 40 years and the quality keeps going down. Pretty soon Benihana will be joining the other chains that are going out of business if they don’t step up their game.

We had a reservation for 2 at 7:00pm. Arrived at 6:55 and were asked to take a seat and we would be seated shortly. We waited over 35 minutes and finally were seated. Took approximately 10-15 minutes to see a waitress who then took our drink and food orders. Our chef Ander was amazing. A lot of fun and food was amazing. He definitely made up for the lack of organization and wait times when we are arrived.

We were seated quickly upon arrival. Jack was our Chef and did an excellent job. The food was delicious!

Reservation was at 8 pm. We got seated at 9 om and chef didn’t start cooking u til 9:45 pm. We left at 10:30 as quickly as cooking was fine. It was too late to leisurely enjoy our meal. Never again.

Over the years the upkeep on the interior of the restaurant has decreased and it looks old and not in the best shape. We notified our waitress and the chef that someone had a food allergy at the table and asked for the allergen to be cooked last so their food would not be contaminated, and the food was mixed together. Management did get us different food from the kitchen after we made them aware of the issue. Other dietary preferences at the table (no salt, low or no butter, etc.) were ignored. The waitress only came by to check on us every 30+ minutes. Our table was in the back of the restaurant and the overhead fans must have been not working properly because it was so loud you couldn’t hear anyone talking and it was also 10-15 degrees warmer in our back corner compared to the rest of the restaurant. Multiple people had to get up and go stand in the lobby to cool down throughout dinner.

Have been going here more than 20 years and I am sad to report the service stinks now. Very loud and very chaotic and no one is smiling.

The waitress was very attentive. She brought out the soup and salad quickly after we ordered and kept our drinks filled as needed without lapse. The two of us in our party both had the filet and upgraded to chicken fried rice. The hibachi chef cooked the meal well and it was flavorful. We typically have a better experience at the Farmington Hills restaurant over the one in Dearborn.
