   The host did not notify me that the restaurant was overbooked. I had an 8:30 reservation & we did not get severed until 10:00. The cook did not have enough food on his tray for our order.

   We chose the Novi location because of its better ambience and service. Both of those attributes were not available on our visit. The restaurant was a pigsty -food on the floor, paper debris everywhere, silverware. The bathrooms the same. The bar had no chairs and was in disrepair. An indication of the restaurants condition was hinted at with tge main signage on tge street destroyed. We had about a half hour wait for a 715 reservation. We soon found out it was not from lack of tables, but from lack of staff, we were seated at 7:45 and didn’t see a waiter or waitress for another hour. Drink order was taken soup and salad brought from the kitchen at 9 o’clock. By 9:40 after a chef had still not arrived at our table an inquiry was made. I informed the host/manager if there was a problem perhaps my party of 6 should reschedule and leave. The host looked quite surprised, but shouldn’t have been because I was one of four complaining at the manager stand that there is no one providing any services. After three hours, a chef finally arrived at our table and made dinner. 71:5 the initial appointment time and we left the restaurant at 11:10. No offers for a beverage or comped meals was given, this was a disaster. We had to send the young child to the car to sleep because four hours at dinner was too much and her plate left untouched. There was no way to complain corporately as when we had left the restaurant the manager had left already and they were closing the doors behind us, it will be a while before I return to Benihana-Novi if at all- extremely disappointed. My how far this place has fallen.

   Made a reservation days before for 7:15 PM on a Tuesday and had to wait until 9:15 PM to “START” cooking the food. Our server disappeared for hours at a time and only came to the table when waved down or another server was asked to get us a refill. There was no communication about the delays and we ended up missing birthday plans we made for after dinner, since we didn’t finish eating until after the restaurant had already been closed for 20 mins. I hear this is not the normal service here, but this was my first time experience and it left a very lasting impression for me personally. I will try a different location if I decide to go here again.

   Dinner was very good. Filet was melt in your mouth. The server was attentive, but it was obvious they didn't have enough chefs to prepare the food. It took us two hours to finish dinner, which is far too long. One of the servers told us Tuesdays are the worst, and to avoid them at all cost. That being said, I still will go back, as this was the first time it has happened for us. If it happens again, we might have to rethink it.

   Made a reservation for 9:30 and was told I wouldn't be seated til 10:15 or so. Once seated It took the chef over an hour to come out. The chef proceeded to cook with no iteraction with patrons. I requested chicken fried rice with no vegetables because I'm allergic to onions and not only did he stir the eggs for the fried rice in the bowl that the vegetables came in but he also gave me rice with vegetables in it. I politely told the waitress that she might want to bring him out some more rice and when she asked why I simply showed her some vegetables that were mixed in with my rice. The chef took so long to cook the food that my rice was ice cold before I actully got my entree (which I ordered the Ocean Treasure). Needless to say I didn't get out of the restaurat until after midnight. A very eventful dinner to say the least.

   Terrible! Made at 6:30 reservation cook didnt arrive to table to almost 8:30pm. When asked about the wait we was told there is not a time cook will come just have wait. Almost 2 hours! Never again!

   For some reason the wait was extra long. We were sat at 7pm (half hour after tour reservation). Then we were served soup and salad but it took another hour for the chef to come out. The manager is discounted the meal and the food was good. Just not our usual experience.

    Benihana has raised their prices, and have done things to kind of "cut corners". They also have an obvious shortage of chefs. The food is still delicious! Plan on 2 1/2 hour minimum, and make your reservations accordingly.

    Food was great and the cook did a great job cooking and entertaining us throughout the meal. Never had to ask for anything, drink was always full and food was delicious. The others sat with us were there for their birthdays and had a great time as well and were easy to meet and get to know them.

    I have been at benihana restaurants dozens of time in my life. Food and service has always been great. This time unfortunately only the food was good. The chef that prepared our food at the table was very unpleasant and seemed to have zero motivation to do his job or make sure we had a good time.

    The food was good, I'm celiac ( gluten free) they carefully cooked my dish first. Unfortunately we waited forever without a chef.... they did compensate us taking money off our bill. But it was hard sitting and waiting with no explanations.

    Our server, Jake, was awesome! The chef, Victor, was superb!! Sushi chef, Ray, was super friendly too!! We haven’t been to Benihana in years, and this trip made us wonder why NOT. There were four in our group and two other “regulars” that came every Saturday all the way from Lansing. Obviously they knew how great the service is from Jake. We will be back again soon

    I will NEVER dine with Benihana after last nights' experience. We had a reservation for 9 p.m; did not even get water or drinks until 9:30; did not get soup until 10:00, salad until 10:15 (upon which a lady, who was celebrating her birthday asked if she could get another drink and the waitress replied, "bar closed at 10",and the chef did not arrive until 10:30 and started cooking. Our meal was completed by the chef by 10:45; at 10:50 the waitress came over and began boxing our dinner up. While doing so she asked how our dinner was and I stated, "I don't know, I haven't had time to eat it" . . . she laughed and said the chef was a little late then gave us the check. I found this very disturbing on her part. With the Benihana Trio you receive ice cream, I inquired and she said she was just about to ask us what kind we wanted. The table placed the ice cream order and she was back in 2 min. I had taken one bite, with spoon near mouth to take a second bite, she picked up the bill and shoved it in my face and said are you ready to pay. I paid the bill. Meanwhile, the staff was cleaning up around us and giving us dirty looks. While I was waiting for my niece and nephew to finish their ice cream, a staff member walked by our table and said, "I can't wait to get the F out of here" . . . I have NEVER, EVER been treated so poorly or disrespected in a restaurant. I will make sure that I alert others to this awful experience.

    Very expensive, portions got smaller, but price got higher. Even with a $30 off coupon for 2 people, still spent $100 and that was with no drinks purchased.

    Our waitstaff and cook were very good and nice, however the restaurant was understaffed so we had to wait quite a long time for the cook to start,(1.5 hours) from the time that we were seated).

    Waited nearly 15 minutes to be seated. Waited over an hour & 10 minutes for a chef to cook at my table. Waitress consistently hurried away from my table as well to the point where it felt like an inconvenience to request for anything.

    Benihana is a wonderful place to have a delicious and fun meal with family and friends! Our experiences at the Farmington Hills restaurant are always favorable... the hosts, wait staff and chefs are friendly, welcoming and excellent at what they do. The food is so good. Great selection of seafood, steak and chicken. It's always a great family outing. For our last dinner, Melvin cooked our meals perfectly and was kind and entertaining. Very good.

    A couple things 1st my plate had hair on it 2nd the drinks took at least 20 min to get 3td we request a certain chef and didn’t get him 4th having a table of 4 children under the age of 7 doesn’t seem like an adult night.

    Arrived at 3:30 with only seven cars in the lot. We didn’t eat until close to 6.the waiter was amazing but the restaurant moved So slow. The chef didn’t come out until 5:15. I’m over the long wait and mediocre service of Benihana. It’s about time find another hibachi spot!

    Our chef must have been new. He struggled to get the food cooked properly. Although we know not all the food can be cooked at once, my husband's chicken was cooked and placed on his plate before the rice or veggies were even started, therefore it was cold before he got any other part of his meal. He also overcooked the shrimp terribly. Unfortunate because it's usually good. This visit was not good and it is super expensive. Prices have increased quite a bit!!

    The experience is good but starts a little slow, my real issue with our visit was the hostess, she was rude and sarcastic. Our chef made a good job on the Hibachi Steak we ordered and was in a really good mood.

    My mom and I had a girls night out and went to my favorite restaurant. Dinner was delicious as always highly recommend the Emperors Feast, Filet mignon that melts in your mouth like butter and colossal shrimp that are delicious! Great restaurant to catch up and spend quality time with your family or friends since the hibachi grill cooking presentation takes a while! Love their mustard sauce I’m kinda obsessed with it lol.
