About Benihana - Encino
Welcome to Benihana and a dining experience unlike any other! Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood. You can also enjoy sushi prepared by a talented sushi chef and indulge in a specialty cocktail. Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Benihana Encino has been the site of numerous television and film productions including The Office, 40-Year-old Virgin and much more. It’s a local favorite of celebrities; one never knows whom they might encounter seated at the teppanyaki grill. The dramatic interior of the restaurant is an authentic Japanese farmhouse, dismantled and shipped from Japan, and reconstructed on-site.

Benihana - Encino Ratings and Reviews
The person taking the order did not speak very good English. Very hard to understand. Not friendly or pleasant. Sodas flat , they did not taste right even though she brought a few refills. Cook was very good n friendly with our table. He was funny got the table laughing n engaged in his tricks. Celebrated husband bday.
It was a special occasion for us given our family's differing schedules. We were seated with a couple celebrating a birthday and it just made for great conversation and an overall great experience. Aki was our chef; he's seasoned, professional and prepared us all delicious food!!
And the drinks were at their best as well — Benihana punch;)
Have eaten at this Benihana location before, but this time I thought it took a turn for the worst. Restaurant was busy, we were seated and were told we had to share menus. After we put our order in, we had to wait 5 mins to get our first item soup and a much longer wait for the salad. As we were waiting I started looking at the color they painted the room we were in, it was gold and brown and then I looked up at the big fan vent above the cooking area, it was painted but it looked like it was chipping/peeling, and it looked like rust was showing through. The cook that waited on our table had on a dingy yellowing chef uniform, and looking at the other chefs one had a beanie on instead of the traditional Benihana Chef Hat. I was highly disappointed with this Benihana, and will not go back there. I wrote to Benihana’s Corp office, and asked for a response back from them! Nobody has called, or emailed a response!
I love this place but The only thing is that at the end when we got the check we were FORCED to give 15% tip or more because our server was telling us that If we didn’t give the amount of tip he had to pay the cook out of his own pocket. I don’t think that was right we spend about 400 dollars at dinner that night and we still had to give 80 dollars more aside of that. The food and cook are good but that is just not right a tip is offered not damanded.
Can't say enough about some of the staff I have come to know since being in the west valley. I started using the Encino Benihana since 2000, and have always been at home in this location. Justin has always been great to my family every time we visit, even if he is not our server. Tony the cook does his best to make everybody laugh, our cook this time was a young kid, (forgot name ) but was great making my grandkids enjoy and laugh. On tour a lot, gone to other location, always looking forward getting back to Encino...Jason
Hi! I visited Benihana to celebrate my birthday this month. I joined The Chef Table program that gives you a $30 gift certificate and called in to inquire about it. There was a lack of clarity on what was covered with the birthday certificate before dining. I ordered the Rocky’s Choice meal with a Lemonade which came out to $40 with the tip included. For the record, I didn’t use my certificate. The meal portions were very small (received 3 mini shrimp as the appetizer and my Japanese green tea lacked taste and quality). The level of service and the appearance should be evaluated as well (front desk communication, our chefs apron was dirty and our server’s flow of waiting our table was held up throughout the evening).
It was my husband's first time and he is not easy to please, but he had fun and I was enjoying that. Our cook was funny and did a wonderful job. I had previously been to other Benihanas but I liked Encino too, we went when they opened which is the thing to do on busy Ventura. Food was delicious. A little pricey, but it was worth it.
It was my yearly traditional birthday din din at benihanas and this year their chef Jose did not disappoint 😃 he was soo nice and funny and he even gave us all garlic butter cuz me and all my friends love it :) soo excited to ask for him next month for my besties birthday and my bfs birthday since every year we utilize their $30 coupon :)
We had a reservation for 515 but we’re not seated for an hour. We were originally going to be seated when we arrived but another party had 7 people when the hostess thought they only had 4. We were asked to wait so the other party could be accommodated. This is an ongoing problem with this place, you make a reservation and show up on time, but are left waiting for various reasons... usually about an hour. I thought by making my reservation early it would improve the wait time, but to no avail. This makes it difficult to eat here with a child since they lose their minds after about an hour. So if you go, go without kids, expect to wait, and have a drink in the bar. Our wait staff was great. Hostess could be more professional. Food was good as always.
Very disappointed that reservation was at 7:15pm and we did not get seated until 8:15pm. This is like death - waiting to eat with two children under 6! Once seated all was good but the wait was atrocious. I cannot believe management did not apologize or comp something for the inconvenience and wait.
The service was horrible, i made a reservation and didn't get a table until 40 mins after arrival. We were seated at the firat table from the entrance and it was small and cold. Overall hated my experience that night . for the money you spend i would of expected a more respectful and efficient service
