Welcome to Benihana and a dining experience unlike any other! Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood. You can also enjoy sushi prepared by a talented sushi chef and indulge in a specialty cocktail. Located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Benihana Encino has been the site of numerous television and film productions including The Office, 40-Year-old Virgin and much more. It’s a local favorite of celebrities; one never knows whom they might encounter seated at the teppanyaki grill. The dramatic interior of the restaurant is an authentic Japanese farmhouse, dismantled and shipped from Japan, and reconstructed on-site.

I’ve always loved Benihana’s. I really like the concept of having a chef cook right in front of you. This past time our chef was pretty cool as usual. They do the volcano tricks with the choo choo train, never gets old lol. I enjoy the food and the chicken fried rice is amazing.

We were already seated and waiting for our chef when oil started dripping from above (under the exhaust vent) onto the grill. It started to smoke and continuously drips more oil. The staffs who were just standing 2 feet from us seems not to notice. We actually needed to call out their attention to fix the dripping. They transferred us to the next table and gave us discount. They cleaned the other table and opened it to new customers later on the evening.
Food is good but can’t help to think what might have happened if food was already on the grill and the dripping started.

Every time I visit this location I’m seated 30 min after the scheduled reservation time. If you’re planning things out, this place will put you behind. I guess my reservations 30 min before you actually want to be seated.

Benihana is still up and running for its price range through good reason. The quality of the food and the show the preparers make is great. It's a fantastic spot for a date or just some dinner with family.

We didn’t realize they only had a special Holiday menu for Valentine’s Day lunch, where the prices were above dinner prices, disappointed they didn’t disclose this when we made the reservation. Lunch for three was over $150.

We come all the time. I made reservation before valentine to avoid the wait. It was for my fiance bday. Took over a hour for hour cook to come out. We were seated before table next to us, there cook was out with in 20 mins. Brutal manager said our cook was in the bathroom...?

I attempted to take my grandson on his birthday only to get there and they did not have our reservation. I took him back on a Tuesday at 5 and we weren’t seated for 15 minutes. It took 45 minutes to get through soup and salad. 2 hours to eat over priced food was ridiculous. And what “show”? We had a new chef who could barely cook. The rice came first and was cold by the time the enter was cooked. Honestly I couldn’t wait to get out of there. The only thing that was good was the waitress and I felt sorry for her because she had to share her tip with that chef. I will never go back to this restaurant

There’s not point of booking because they will still sit you 40 mins after your reservation time. Chief was awesome but wait time was ridiculous, I saw the reciptionist seating other people before my reservation. They really need to get organized

The person taking the order did not speak very good English. Very hard to understand. Not friendly or pleasant. Sodas flat , they did not taste right even though she brought a few refills. Cook was very good n friendly with our table. He was funny got the table laughing n engaged in his tricks. Celebrated husband bday.

It was a special occasion for us given our family's differing schedules. We were seated with a couple celebrating a birthday and it just made for great conversation and an overall great experience. Aki was our chef; he's seasoned, professional and prepared us all delicious food!!

And the drinks were at their best as well — Benihana punch;)
