Appetizer late and cold.,dropped one in wife’s lap

I am there all the time.
This was a disappointing experience. Our server had a hard time deviating from what must have been a "script" when we asked questions on the menu. Our chef was not very dynamic at all, and didn't have the real "chops" as it were. They had a hard time dealing with allergies and messed up our order. Then when the bill arrived, there was an extra entry listed, raising the price by $20. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We love benihana, but, it was very busy, with one waiter working the entire room. It took forever to get everything, and our sushi came after our dessert arrived :( then, we were even charged for the sushi.
The restaurant itself was fine. Could use some updates. Seating arrangements were fun, we were able to meet new people. I'm not sure if they were short staffed or what, but it was my husbands birthday and their camera that labels pictures was broken and they forgot his fried rice, he was almost finished his main course before they brought him a bowl and totally short changed him on his steak. The soup was yummy, the salad was okay. Overall, it was cool, but for the money we spent and the advanced notice they had knowing it was my husband's special day, I guess I was bummed that he didn't walk away feelimg celebrated.

We will never eat at Benihana in Dulles Ever again! The service was the worst we’ve ever had at any restaurant ever! We didn’t get our soup and salad appetizer until after our main course was served. Took 30 minutes to get our drinks from when we ordered to when they arrived. The manager was rude and only offered us free ice cream after all we had to endure. So upsetting. Don’t waste your money at this restaurant and please don’t disregard this review. It’s happened way too many times at this restaurant! BTW our server’s name was Roy so if you go there and get him as your server...just leave.
The food was HORRIBLE, like they do not know of any spices or seasonings. The portions were extra small as if they were afraid of running out of food. Literally watched them serve an adult male 4 slices of each vegetable and 1 shrimp cut into pieces. The bathrooms were disgusting and smelled so bad it came into the dining area. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.
Great food. Service was slow but it was crazy busy for valentines day so understandable. Would go again.
Food was okay - i'll leave that at the top. Steak was nice, but the shrimp was overcooked and the fried rice undercooked (like birdseed undercooked). Also, about 5 min after finishing the meal prep they brought our checks and the chef and server abandoned the table, expecting everyone to pay and leave - forgetting the tea and ice cream that are supposed to be complimentary part of the menu.
My big problem though - they sat 10 fully-grown adults around a table that clearly designed for no more the 6 or 7. I was squeezed in to tightly between my wife and the guy next to me that I kept hitting him with my elbow when I tried to chopstick some food into my mouth.
Great Valentines Day dinner with my grim friend. Portions were smaller than I expected but other than that it was great!
Not the same Benihana that I grew up with portions and QUALITY are slipping away

I was craving sushi and I had some wiredeat taste sushi ever ! Look like it was on plate since morning and just took it out from the friedge when we asked a special place like this they have to make fresh sushi not from the fridge.
Over all fun experience.
But the food taste won’t bring me back just to hang out with friends sure !

This is our go to place for my kids birthday for 10 yrs now. I was never disappointed with the service and the food in the past but that changed with last night. We will probably take a break from going there. The food at best sub par and the service very mediocre. The hostess is one bright spot in the whole experience but everything else is disappointing. The food is flavorless, the cook is very boring with out much engagement from the diners.
The food was ok - the person that was our “chef”. Was not entertaining or engaging - that is why you go to Benihana...
Our chef was a young man who did a great job - funny jokes, related well to people at table, cooked food per our specifications, everything tasted great. Would come here again. Highly recommend.

My friends and I wanted to celebrate my birthday. The food was good as normal, but the service we received from one of the chefs was poor. When we arrived, he was not very friendly. He did no introduction just asked if we wanted something to drink. After the drinks arrived, he took our order and walked away. There was no conversation about what was to happen next. A few minutes later our chef came to our table. She was really nice, but could have done a better show. Before she left she asked if we needed anything and left the table. After we were done eating the chef with the poor customer service asked if we needed anything else and helped us box our food. After receiving the check, we asked the other chef was still here to give her a tip. He lied and told us us that "she was gone for today." After he said that he went into the back to get our to go order. While he getting our to go order we saw the other chef in the back. We gave her the tip and left. He was unprofessional. We will not be returning here.
We ordered sushi that never came, we waited 30 mins for a drink refill and our cook didn’t do any tricks for the kids. Worst service I’ve ever had. The manger gave us free appetizer coupons. WTF? Ashamed. Do not go there
The service was a little slow too a while to get our drinks, soup and salad. Otherwise the food was very good.
The chef we had was horrible and seems like it was his first day. Although Benihana usually does some training, the company relies heavily on hibachi style presentation and our chef was not aligned with the standards. Their food can be found anywhere but if the company start to fall short on their main differentiator, they will lose business fast. Our last visit, we also had similar experience where service not upto par. May start to look elsewhere for this type of restaurant
This benihana is okay. I moved here from California where I went to benihana a lot. The food was okay I believe the chef uses too much pepper on my steak and he did not cut it up much which was a challenge given we aren’t given knives. Also I am use to the chefs being more entertaining and talking to the people as they cook the chef said nothing. Lastly the tables seem smaller but still they put nine people at the table. I was in the center and my party could not pull their chairs up to the table. This benihana needs to visit some of the other locations And see how they can do it better.
I have never been to a Benihana and didn't receive good service and food. I love this restaurant, but they need to put one in Richmond, Virginia
For seven years we’ve come to Benihana for New Year’s Eve with our kids at 5:30pm Every year the service is worse and we say we won’t come back. This time confirmed we won’t be back. The waiter was never around meal was done, when our Daughters white rice showed up after asking four times for it! Four times!! Had to ask twice for the sushi we ordered. We asked twice to speak to a manager however know one showed up. Given the service this was not a surprise. The entire experience was rushed. Our bill was $178 the experience and service was worth $25.00
Total disappointment and lack of service and hospitality speaks volume!
This was one of my worst experiences at one of these restaurants. At Benihana, much of the fun revolves around your chef. Ours was a poorly-trained dud. Furthermore, we were left waiting after being seated for 15 minutes or so before even being asked to order drinks or anything. Then they came about another 15 min later, except for my daughter’s which came much later after we reminded them. It was a busy night over the holidays, but they clearly weren’t prepared for the volume. We probably won’t return to this location.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The service was bad and the food horrible.
With the exception of the chef (who was kind but just going through the motions) the entire service staff was terrible. The hostess was snooty and made sure we knew we would need to wait regardless of our reservation but the server took the cake. She seemed put out and must have had a problem with picking up finished beverages since we had a stack of those piled up at our table. I guess, Happy Birthday to us! Won't make this mistake again.
We arrived early for our reservation. The entrance was crowded & cold. We were sat around 630 at a corner station. Orders were promptly taken yet food had not been served by 7. The table which was sat after us, next to us- were having soups & salads . As our table was being turned on.. salads finally arrived. My guest had a mushroom allergy & never got his soup . The cook made fried rice for all except my guest & the argues that he didn’t order it !! Seriously! At that point we got up, spoke with a female manager who was very understanding. Even with that said, I will never return or recommend anyone to go here! The atmosphere felt like a chucky cheese , very open & lacks coziness . Customer service & guest interaction was horrendous. Save your time & money - go somewhere else!
We've been going to this restaurant for special occasion meals for years. The service this night was the worst ever! This was not completely the fault of the server, either - this was on management. There were only two servers for the entire restaurant! Here's what happened ... we ordered sushi as an appetizer and didn't receive it until AFTER the meal after several queries into where was our sushi. Next, we didn't receive our green tea, soup and salad until AFTER the fried rice was served and the entree was being prepared at our table. This led to quickly eating it so as not to have our entree get cold. Our order was messed up - we ordered two extra servings of fried rice and we didn't get them - until after we had started eating our entrees. One of our orders was wrong, but it had already been served, so we just went ahead and ate it. After complaining a couple more times, we received our sushi - all our other food was already cleared away. We did talk to the manager, but service did not improve. They took some money off of our bill, but it was still a really terribly disappointing experience for a special occasion meal.
We had to wait in the lobby for quite a while, despite have reservations. The wait staff was understaffed. Our waiter was hustling as fast as he could, but service was slow because he was stretched thin. Had the Benihana Special and the lobster was very disappointing (didn't taste like lobster). Salad had clearly just come from freezer as it was ice cold. Despite having a coupon, dinner for three came to about $180 (with tip). Don't think we'll be going back.
Worse experience at this Dulles Location. Food was over-cooked due to table chef not being experienced enough - definitely an entry-level performance, which is a poor reflection of the quality control of this restaurant. Manager, named Ron, was rude and has no regard nor respect for families trying to enjoy their evening. We've never been to a restaurant where the manager argues with food preparation complaints! Clearly, this manager is inexperienced and needs to take customer service training 101.
It was Christmas evening so the restaurant was packed. We had a 6:30 reservation but once seated it took 30 mins for the waiter to take our drink orders and the food wasn’t prepared for another 30 minutes. The hostesses were very rude to many customers. The manager was not very helpful. There were only 7 chefs working that night for the entire restaurant. The food was rushed. The steak was not tender and our chef looked and worked exhausted. She was unable to do any of the fun and engaging tricks. This was a tradition but we will have to find another restaurant as this experience was terrible on every way. This restaurant cares nothing about the customer experience.
We understand it was Christmas Day and extra busy, but the staff really seemed to be short-handed and mismanaged. We were sat quickly, but did not eat until two hours after arriving. Our server was great, but the chef seemed inexperienced and the food was cold and/or over or under cooked. We’ve been to this location several times before (including on Christmas Day) and had much better experiences. If they are going to remain open each Christmas Day, the staff and management needs to get it together better.
Awful. Cook didn’t know what he was doing. Not hygienic. Horrible service.
Went for Christmas Dinner. Expected a lot more since it is an expensive restaurant. Sushi came after meal was over. Waiter forgot drinks or items needed, often. Empty dishes not cleared, had very little space to eat. It should have been much better than it was. Very Disappointing. Think twice, other choices available. For the price we paid, so not worth it! Need to step up your game!!
The occasion was simply Christmas - one of the few places open on Christmas Day - and we go almost every year. Always a good time and yummy food; but best for parties of 6-8 than 1-2 ... unless you're also comfortable meeting new people.
Granted, Christmas Eve is not a great night in restaurants. But this was a pretty poor showing, primarily thanks the hibachi chef. We’ll just say we are glad our chef didn’t try to twirl or throw knives. He couldn’t even control the spatula and fork.
