Pretty disappointed. Birthday was completely ignored by staff. Wouldn't have been such an issue but our server participated in singing Happy Birthday at all the tables around us. At least the family sharing our table wished a happy birthday as we left.

We had an amazing time! Our chef was the only female chef in the place and she killed it; she was hilarious and our food was delicious. Even the people we shared our table with were chill. Our blue drink was not that great.
We arrived for our reservation in time and were seated within minutes. We waited 20+ minutes for a server to attend the table. It took close to 20 additional minutes for the waiter to bring our water and drinks. The appetizers took another 10 minutes. Then the chef Victor showed up. He put on a good show and was attentive to my wife’s low sodium requirements.
We had filets and chicken. The filets were cooked medium as ordered. Unfortunately the filet had very little taste. The chicken was over cooked to the point of being extremely dry.
The soup and salad were good. The dragon roll was mediocre at best.
In all the dinner for 2 was about &150.00 and took a bit more than 2 hours.
Almost forgot the ice cream at the end was served with a fork! As you can imagine it caused dripping issues. They might as well have served it with chopsticks 😂

We were celebrating my sister's birthday, so we went for lunch. Very enjoyable, more childrens birthday parturs though then you would have at night bit the noise level was alot beyter than at night too. Due to fewer crowds.

We arrived right on time for our 6:30pm reservation on a tuesday and we waited 45 minutes for a table never had to wait that long eve. Waited in the bar area tried to get a drink and appetizer, tried to get bar staffs attention it was like we were invisible and finally after 10 minutes were able to order something.... then never got our order it was time to get our table and my mom went back to the bar to pay for her drink that she finally got and to ask about the appetizer and she said that they hadn't even put the order in. So we waited another 30 minutes just for the chef to come to the table and start, presentation and everything was just not as our past experiences the overall experience was horrible and the waiting time was just unbearable and there was the same amount of workers if not more than there usually is! The prices were more and to me even if it's for a birthday dinner it's just not worth the time and waiting forever :-(

We love Benihana and go at least once a year for my sons birthday. I must say, the past couple times going the chefs seemed to have grown tired of the tricks and routine. For this reason my husband requested a lively chef that would make out visit special for our sons birthday. We got Jose and he did not disappoint! He brought that first Benihana visit spark that we thought had been lost. Will definitely recommend and request him again. Our server Bruce was also excellent and we got Jose as our chef thanks to him.
The actual food and service was great. We had a lot of fun. My only complaint is that I had a 5pm reservation and wasn't seated until 5:40pm. When i got there I was told it be a few minutes and to wait outside. If I knew it was going to be that long at least I could of went to the bar and got a drink.
The reservation was for 3:45 PM I checked in about 3:50 PM. Host working were vary polite but they did inform me that they were behind on reservation 20-30 minutes. Around 4:40 PM we got seated, we had to wait around another 15 minutes for a server to greet us. Waited approximately another 10 minutes for soup and salads to arrive. Shortly after that, the cook arrived. Food and Customer service from our server was phenomenal. It did upset me that we had to wait that long to get seated especially that I had my 3-year-old daughter with me.

We’ve been here before a few times and this was our worst experience yet. We got seated and waited over an hour before any food came out, this was even with a reservation. Our chef proceeded to come out, point out that an nfl player was at the table behind us and spent most of the meal paying attention to that table instead of ours. Our waiter was nice but also was giving more attention to the table behind us as well. It took over 30 minutes to get a refill on my soda and over 40 minutes to bring the check out after we asked. This was our first time bringing our 3 kids and this was for my birthday so this was pretty disappointing.

Love Benihana, always have gone to the Santa Monica location, 1st time here after recent move to the Bay. We had a reservation &everything went well for checking in and seating. Our server didn’t put in my partner’s order of fried rice &also forgot to bring out someone’s order of steamed rice. There was a chef mixup where a chef accidentally started cooking at our table instead of the one next to us. Realized shortly into making the fried rice and switched over to the other table. Not a big deal at all. We shortly got our chef. Bc the server forgot to put in the fried rice order, there wasn’t enough made for everyone. The chef asked someone passing by to order it from back of house. When it came, the chicken was in big chunks (not little pieces like it’s supposed to be), didn’t have any of the veggies, and overall just didn’t taste like much. I love Benihana fried rice &was hyping it up to my partner bc this was his 1st time going. Sucks that he didn’t even get to experience it. As for the sides, everything tasted fine like normal. When he made my chicken teriyaki, he said someone had given him the wrong sauce in his cart so after he poured it on my meal, he realized it was incorrect &had to ask someone to bring him the correct ingredients to start over. My partner waited to eat his meal until I got my food which just made his steak get cold. I finally got mine &the person bringing him the ingredients forgot to bring mushrooms. I asked if I could get a side of them. They bring me some from the back &they taste like someone dunked a ton of salt on them. I poured the whole thing on my chicken before tasting it &it made everything inedible. They should’ve been cooked in teriyaki sauce so it blended. Steak was also pretty tasteless. Chicken was taken off the bill but overall, we left just feeling stressed out. Each mistake by itself wasn’t a big deal, but I’ve never had so many mistakes happen during one meal. One person at our table also didn’t get the right entre...

This was our first time visiting the Cupertino Benihana restaurant but we’ve frequented a couple of the SoCal locations. This experience was subpar compared to our previous visits to the SoCal sites. The bartenders completely ignored us for 10 minutes while they engaged in conversation. We were seated fairly promptly which was good. However, from that point forward the experience declined. The server forgot several items despite repeated requests - forks, drinks, removing empty dishes, food items ordered. While the food was okay, the chef was not entertaining and engaged with one of the patrons the entire duration discussing shared high school acquaintances. It was a disappointing experience for me but, fortunately, my husband was okay and we were there to celebrate his birthday.

Benihana's was going downhill, but my two recent experiences were excellent! I am of the opinion that COVID helped them reevaluate things, and perhaps appreciate business returning. We have been going to Benihana's for over 20 years and had almost given up. Fortunately for them my husband is in love with their fried rice and wanted to return for his birthday. I am pleased to say things have really turned around. Both recent visits were on a weekday, so perhaps that helped, but nonetheless, a good review is deserved. Tasty food and great service at both recent visits.

It’s not a party of 8, it’s my family! I have 7 kids!
My husband appreciates good service and would have tipped a lot more then the automatic tip added to our bill, we find this so insulting!

We had a 1:45 reservation and still didn’t have a chef at our table at 3.
This was bad enough but we had 3:30 reservations to bowl for two hours and missed the first 45 minutes even though we rushed through our meal and brought most of it home.
Do not recommend at all.

Had to wait an extra 15 minutes to get seated for my 8pm reservation, I was a little annoyed but I let it slide since we were here to celebrate my brothers birthday and I didn’t want that to ruin my mood. Upon sitting our cook didn’t start until 1 and a half hour later, so my dad had to leave for work before the show even started (we still ordered him takeout) I’m just confused why my reservation was at 8pm and we didn’t start cooking until 9:30 and we were done at 10:30, I did spend a lot of money here and I didn’t get the best experience. I don’t know if I’m going to be taking my family out to Benihana’s again.

When we arrived there was short delay before being seated. We were a party of three. The chef had good skills with the utensils spinning and flipping them - all good. We, and other diners ordered chicken fried rice...a large order maybe 10 in all. The portions of chicken, eggs and assorted vegetables did not align with the large amount of rice. The eggs were placed on the hot side of the grille and burned quickly. The rice was barely placed onto the teppanyake grill when everything was combined. In very little time some garlic butter and soy sauce was added. Very soon the bowl were loaded with very white chicken fried rice. It was barely warmed with no flavor...very little seasoning or taste. I have had it many times and this was sub par and I would have sent it back but there is no where to send it back to. We ordered steak and lobster which were marginal...very little seasoning. The shrimp was fine but my granddaughter barely touched her filet mignon. We took most of our dinner home. It will a long time before I come back to Benihana's

The service wasn’t good which is surprising because usually we are taken care of. Maybe it was overly busy or just understaffed . Not sure. We waited 20 minutes before our drink orders came in. Then another 45-an hour and half before our chef showed to start cooking. Needless to say, we were pretty tipsy before we got our food, and our food sobered us up bu the end of the night. Reservation was at 745. We were seated at 810ish and when we left it was 1130ish

I always enjoy this spot. It just sucks because the next day you leave everything, including my purse and mask, smelt heavily like food. It did take awhile for our server to come to our table and start with app. but we weren't mad. I always recommend this place.
