Took my daughter to her favorite Teppanyaki spot. Benihana has always been the go to in the local area for great food and a little show.

We have had the worst experience ever with Chef Eliel. We’ve been to Benihana many many times, specifically at this location. Unfortunately, tonight we had Chef Eliel and it was a completely different story. It’s the first time we had had a Benihana chef that performed NO TEPPANYAKI TRICKS. Since we’re a regular here, we are very familiar with all the tricks: beating-heart fried rice, the egg tricks, the shrimp toss, and the signature onion volcano etc. All the guests at our table were looking forward to those tricks as we saw what was happening at the table across us. Chef Eliel started out in a long face. Little did we know at that time, he would wear the same long face throughout the entire dinner grilling food in front of us. When he first started cooking the fried rice, he put the rice in a heart shape and then he put the spatula under the rice and everyone was expecting the heart starting to beat but then…..next thing happened was he shuffled all the rice and then started distributing them. He then moved on to cooking veggies including onions. When he laid out the onion rings on the grill pan, everyone was excited because we all knew what was gonna happen. BUT, Chef Eliel gave us a surprise again. He then chopped up all the onions and just cooked them like regular veggies and distributed to all of us. And needless to say, he cooked the shrimps, the meats, the scallops, the steaks….everything else just like a cooking machine cooking in front of us. He had his long face on at all times and had absolutely zero interaction with our entire table. (We have three different groups of guests at our table) The only interaction that he had made with us was asking “everything ok?” for about 4 times throughout the entire dinner, but of course, he asked that with his long face on. I hope Chef Eliel is ok, and if he’s not, maybe he should take a day off because it’s not fair for guests to be treated like that.

Such a fun experience for the whole family! Our chef, Marvin, wowed us with his incredible knife skills and kept us entertained throughout the meal. Kunal, our host and server, was exceptionally attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Before we left, the manager, Becky, stopped by to check in and see how everything went — a great personal touch to end a wonderful evening.

I used to love this Beni Hana but unfortunately it’s quality has gone down. The salads filled less than half of their little bowls. It was mostly red cabbages and a small amount of dressing. They were very busy so we hardly seen our waiter. We would ask for things and he would forget Staws, waters, other food items. I couldn’t get a refill on my water or soda. Then when the chef left our table they started cleaning around us before we even finished our meals. The minute we finished our meal (while trying to finish the last of my wine and enjoy it) the busboys and waiters stayed standing near our table, staring at us, trying to make us leave. Then the manager came over and very rudely asked if we needed anything else and go to the bar if we wanted to talk. I wasn’t even done with my wine. Considering how much they’ve raised their prices and we filled an entire table of 8 guest with a $500 bill, you would think they would at least let us enjoy our meal and time together. We weren’t there for HOURS, it was just because they were overbooked and had more than can handle. Not my fault.

Waiter was okay, he seemed a little lost dping the power lunch for our table and forgot our requested salad dressing several times. Overall it was still decent service, considering that a party of 70 people was just leaving the restaurant as we were coming in. Made me glad we had needed to change our reservation to 1 instead of 12 because i think if we had been there during that time we could have easily been forgotten in favor of the group of 70. Even the best reataurants out there have some serverr difficulties when large parties are there/and when they are leaving so i dont hpld that against them too much.

Made reservations and was seated more than an hour later. This was the same as a lot of other people with reservations. Why make reservations? There are so many other places that can seat you at your designated reservation, or at least close to it. DO NOT GO HERE unless you have a lot of free time on your hands and are not hungry.

I had a reservation and had to wait for 45 mins inspite of that which was a bummer. I was trying this place for the first time and it was the 2 of us - we were made to share a table with another party which I wasn’t expecting, but after the long wait, I was ready to take what I got. The chairs were also super uncomfortable . Even after being seated, the wait for the food was enormous. The chef at the table tried to do a few tricks, but it was mechanical and nothing special. It was okay for a first time experience, but I doubt I’ll be going again.

We had made reservations for dinner for 5 ppl at 6:30 on a Thursday evening. We arrived 5 min before our reservation and checked in only to be told that there was a 20-25 min wait before they could seat us. When asked how it's possible to have that long of a wait when we have reservations, I was told that ppl stay longer at the tables than calculated. We moved aside to let others check in. The bar area and outside was overflowing with ppl waiting to be seated. After the informed wait time, we asked again when we will be seated and were told, "more ppl are getting ready to leave, please sit tight and you'll be seated shortly". However, when they called ppl to be seated, our party was not among them. After that, we checked in with the host every 10 min and we were told the same lie every time. Finally, we were seated 1h after our reservation time!! After we were seated, the waiting continued, first we waited for the waitress for drinks and food order, then we waited for the chef. Overall, we spent 3 hours at the restaurant, roughly 2h of that time was spent waiting. The host was clearly not doing his job in getting ppl seated in a timely manner. The folks sharing the table with us shared that they overheard the host accepting walk-ins, even though they were obviously overbooked that night. One thing is to have an uncertain wait time when one shows up without reservation, but it is unacceptable to allow ppl with reservations to wait 1h to be seated especially when the host is not truthful about the duration of the wait time. We were so turned off by this experience that I doubt we'll be back to visit this restaurant.
