Benihana - Coral Gables
Dinner: Monday - Thursday: 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm, Friday - Saturday: 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, Sunday: 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Service and food was great. Do not like the fact they only give 15 min after a reservation is made. Otherwise, overall it was a nice experience to see the chef cook everything in front of you.
Went for a birthday dinner, and was not disappointed! The food that was cooked on the grill tasted great, and the chef was entertaining the whole dinner.
I was excited to take my boyfriend to Benihana for his birthday celebration meal. I made an 8:30 pm reservation and arrived promptly for it, and we waited 30 mins just to be seated. Once we were finally seated, we waited at the table for an additional 20 mins just for someone to come and take our meal and drink order. Then, it took another 15-20 mins for a chef to come to our table to cook the meal. It just seemed pointless to make a reservation if we were going to have to wait that long.
When the server finally came to the table, we placed an order for an appetizer. The appetizer did not come until well after our meal had been served, and that was after following up and asking for it 3 times. Each time we followed up with the server he would say, "I'm sorry, but things keep coming up at other tables that's taking my attention when I go to place your appetizer order." This was really frustrating to hear because it seems as though our table was not a priority at all.
We ordered the chicken hibachi which the menu says comes with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, veggies, and tea. I watched as the tables around us received their soup, salad, and tea, but we only received soup. I thought maybe I read the menu wrong, but when I got home I double checked and realized that we had not received all that we paid for.
The chef was very nice and friendly, but the overall experience consisted of poor customer service, and I honestly will not be coming back to this location. Several of my coworkers who were thinking of trying this Benihana asked about my experience and if I'd recommend it, and unfortunately I had to be honest and tell them no. I've been to benihana locations in other states and had a great experience, so I know the restaurant itself is good. he Coral Gables location could just use some better staff.
Great food and chef!!! Great time overall and kids enjoyed it.
I love Benihana... The food is amazing the wait to eat however took away from the experience. I'll still go back over and over.... just go before your starving. 😊
The food was amazing
Nothing more disappointing then a steak that’s 1/3 fat
The server Tania was extremely kind . Even during the rush, she always had a smile. Thank you !
The waiting for the chef was very long.
Portions very small
It was my b-day and normally you guys brink icecream and sing the happy Birthday song
And we didn’t have that.
Very disappointed; we normally go once every 2 or 3 months.
Improve the Air Condiniiting at the 1st floor of the restaurant. The space was too hot.
It was fine... little pricey for what it really is... our chef was fun and friendly... food was good.
It was a great experience overall. The waitress was very professional and kind. I liked the menu options, good tasting food. The staff was friendly and they sang happy birthday to me. Thanks!
After making a reservation early on in the day, we were sat in the section of the restaurant where the air conditioner was broken.
It was hot and it took a long time for chef to be available for our table.
Made a reservation that made us get in right on time
Excellent service, great ambiance, had an awesome time! Celebrated My Daughter’s 11th birthday and she Loved it!!
I love this place, we dine here 3-4 times a month.
The only problem i have is i saw the prep chef whip his nose and continue to prepare food. Over where the seafood aeea is
Took very long to attend to us. Total, we were there for about 2+hours. Food was yummy. Chef wasn’t personable.
Service was horrible but it’s a fun birthday place to go
Fue mi primera vez y me gustó mucho todo muy rico y muy ameno .
The rice was hard and the chicken was rubbery. I think you should change the way the rice is cooked initally since the rice is recooked on the gridle which makes the rice even more cooked. Also you should buy your chicken from another wholesaler because the chicken I ate during my meal was rubbery. This is no complaint on the cook but on the food.
Celebrating our daughter’s diploma
Just disorganized. Didn’t make enough for entire table and no one ate at same time
it has been getting worst, hot as hell, quality of food and cooking bad, is changing badly
It was so great, we’re going back again today!
Service was poor and everyone who worked there seemed confused.
We were sat at a “closed” table then moved when we were about to order, food needed more taste.
Loved everything. Chef Lazaro was very friendly. Had a great time.
El servicios muy lento la espera por el cocinero muy larga y cuando llega ala mesa es con mala actitud y cambia la orden pedida por lo que el quiera darle no lo que uno realmente pide .
Best food I have ever had I will return with my kids. They loved the food and ate everything
It was an early dinner. No waiting and quiet until rush hour. Food and service were great.
I love the food, so delicious and the service excellent!
Always a great dining experience. Great food and a fun cooking show.
Excellent!! The colossal shrimp were outstanding. Better vegetables good salad a good service!!
Our reservation was for 8:30pm however we had to wait for the rest of our party who was running a behind due to being lost. They arrived 10 minutes after our scheduled and the hostess said that it would be a minute before we were seated. It was admired 30 minutes until we were seated. everything following was very mediocre. They didn’t bring out the white and brown steamed rice that half of my party asked for. We had to ask for silverware as they didn’t provide automatically. The bill was $181.33 prior to tip for a party of 5. What did I just pay for? Won’t be returning.
The only thing nice about this restaurant is it’s location.
Great Chef display and food! Drinks came late was the only issue in an otherwise fantastic experience
This location is very good, although we used to enjoy the gardens and bay views at the Miami Beach location. Unfortunately, that location has changed for the worse in the past few years. No one in our group dines there anymore because of the decline in customer service, as well as food quality and even the chefs. The last time we were there, our chef walked away and left our food on the grill for almost 20 minutes. Our food was not even worth taking home, as it was dry and very overcooked. We even noticed the chef at the table next to ours, tell him he could not just take off like that. It's such a shame, but we're lucky to have the Coral Gables location. No complaints here.
This place needs some serious remodeling. It looks really old and whipped inside. Staff also looked like they would rather be any place but there. Very dark and dim inside and for a restaurant in Coral Gables you would think they would keep it up. Our Birthday celebration for 4 with drinks & tip was over $300.00. Really not worth the money. We should have spent the $300. at Ruth Christ and gotten a whole Filet Mignon Steak instead of some watery bowl of soup with a few floating mushrooms in it that tasted like dishwater. We also had a few pieces of bite size steak and a small bowl of tasteless rice for $39.00. Dessert was a melted scoop of vanilla ice cream. About four restaurant staff showed up with the same sad enthusiasm to sing happy birthday. Dinner and experience was very disappointing. Would not recommend to anyone. Dine across the street at Red Koi if you want Asian flare.
Slow start, food is delicious but when everyone orders different rice and entrees it really slows the process down. Allow 2 hours from sitting time to the time you pay the bill. If you have somewhere to be plan accordingly.
First time experience for my mom. Amazing
