Long wait. Poor service. Chef was filthy
Great time with friends. Thank you staff at Benihana.
Great food and excellent service!
The cooks are NEVER consistent in their cooking methods and ingredients. I go there enough to know the routine by heart. I have been going to Benihana 44+ YEARS! The cooks these days almost always overcook the seafood. The food is always fresh and of good quality but the cooks ruin it by either forgetting altogether to add certain ingredients: (such as garlic butter, sesame seeds, etc.) or under-cooking the veggies, serving them practically raw, or raw on one side, burnt on the other. When they make faces or animals with the eggs, they almost always take the HALF RAW eggs and raw onions, veggies, etc for Fried Rice) that they have set off to the side (away from the heat in a heap), uncooked and RAW and add it to the rice. Sometimes they may or may not give it a stir or two on the grill instead of stir frying the onions a bit longer before adding them to the rice like they SHOULD!! Some "cooks" just take the RAW onions for the Fried Rice from barely warm part of the grill, and just add it to the fried rice, without grilling it, thereby having wasted my money because it does NOT taste good AT ALL as it does when they STIR FRY THESE INGREDIENTS!! Maybe, these new cooks are told not to spend time actually cooking the Fried Rice fixings to save time? If that is the case, I wish they would go back to the old way of cooking Fried Rice by frying it like the name that it's called. True Fried Rice has all the ingredients stir fried an a wok. They are supposed to STIR FRY ALL THE INGREDIENTS! The seasoned cooks ALWAYS DO stir fry all of the ingredients, as well as the onions and zucchini appetizers. They just don't allow them to supposedly cook by themselves off in a corner . The new cooks also overcook the Lobster and scallops almost every single time. I usually have to tell them when to stop cooking the seafood etc, and or ask them to cook my veggies & onions longer to get them cooked correctly. This irritates the cooks, then they almost always gipp me on my portions.
i was very upset on my birthday march 8th 1 of your Server mandy acussed me of not paying my tab .
It was my 21st birthday, the waiter (i wish i could recall her name) gave me her opinions on the drinks and her suggestion was GREAT!!!!!
Always an enjoyable experience whenever I go here. Never a long wait to be seated. Great service, great food!
The chef was awesome!! He cooked everything how we requested. Food was delicious as always!!
We come here about once a month. We love the food and show. Most of the time the service is awesome.
I've been a Benihana connoisseur since age 9 currently I am 49 and this particular visit it tasted better than ever!!!
In spite of our reservation, we were seated 45 minutes after the designated time. It took another 40 minutes to get any food. No apologies, no updates on timing. Great food but supremely over-priced. Not going back anytime soon.
Awesome service, friendly servers!
It was a great night, with good company at the table. The only thing I didn’t like was how small my portion of food I get for that price. They shouldn’t be stingy with the food. My date and I were upset because we got the least of the food served there. I don’t think it’s fair that we should have to share our food. I should get what I paid for and nothing less.
Great food. Fun time. Excellent service
Very crowded table making it uncomfortable. Food and entertainment was excellent. Miss the Calamari on the menu.
Horrible chef did not do any tricks for the 5 children that was at the table.
Although I had a reservation wait time was still long , hostess was rude and seem to be more interested in personal conversation than checking in guest.
Overall a good experience, but even with a reservation 1 week in advance on open table we still had to wait over 40 mins to be seated. Beni's is cool but they are way to overpriced for what you get. Your paying fine dining prices for average food and decent cooking entertainment.
Food is good but you do not get alot for what you pay for, you're basically pating for the show and what they claim are entrées are really small. I made a reservation for 7:00pm and wasn't seated until 7:40pm I was on time with my entire party at 6:50pm. Service needs to be a bit quicker. Overall great once we were finally seated.
We enjoyed our cook, Jin, and our server was very good also. The restaurant was unusually crowded for a Wednesday night, and was very loud and noisy.
Hosts weren’t nice and not welcoming, had a reservation at 8:45pm and didn’t get sat till an hour later. What’s the point of a reservation. They didn’t tell us there were different menus for hibachi and for dine in so we were looking at the wrong menu, and when we got sat is when we realized it was different. They should have told us instead of letting us read the wrong menu. It would have helped just to get an idea of what kind of appatizer we would have gotten. Jose the chef was good and so was our server, but at the end we seemed to be a little rushed to get out of there and our green tea didn’t get served. I know it was late, but it wasn’t our fault we got sat late. I understand that it’s busy, but then let us enjoy what we paid for. Our food was mediocre for what we paid. It was my first time and the only reason why I came is because of the $30 gift card for my birthday, which is awesome. Hoping to give it another chance, but probably just doing happy hour to see how that goes.
Its always a great dining experience everytime me and my family dine at Benihana! The only complaint I guess is that we had our reservation and we still waited for a good 15 minutes just to get us seated on our table.
We had a reservation for 6:30 but we did not get seated until 7:15. After all these years you'd think they would know how to manage reservations. After that fiasco, the meal was good as expected.
Everything was great! Price was kinda high but expected! Overall a great experience!
Terribly slow service. Two hour ordeal. Food was just average. Won’t be back.
The hostess was the rudest person I've ever met. Even with a reservation we weren't seated and we had to wait over 45 mins terrible.
Horrible management that needs to be replaced. Had an attitude before arriving to our table and when he did arrive he acted as if he didn’t want to be bothered with my problem with the food being over cooked and the lack of service.
I have been going to Benihanna's for years. It was the place to treat my mom and grandmother for dinner. Back then we always had to go to SF. I am happy that they built one on this side of the Bay.
We had a great experience. The food was terrific and the chef was very entertaining. Thank you!!
I was disappointed. I’m not sure if the gentleman that I spoke to checking in was a manager or not (I was guessing he was because he was dressed differently than all the other employees), but he had major attitude and needed a lesson on customer service. The reservation was on a Wednesday evening at 7:30 and we weren’t seated until after 8pm. Once seated I felt like we we were rushed when beginning courses were coming out. It seemed like they wanted to get us out as soon as possible because of the back up. It just got to a point where it wasn’t enjoyable. I won’t be back.
Made reservations for a friends birthday dinner. Had no idea that the reservation meant that we were seated at a large table to watch the chef do his magic with all the chopping and cooking. We just wanted a booth in the lounge area to talk and enjoy some sushi. We let the manager know our dilema and he immediately sat us in the lounge area in a nice booth. The service from him and our server was very excellent, especially seeing that it was a busy night. Food was average and we had great conversation. Would go again.
Great food and fun entertainment!
Food is always good, A bit noisy but that is to be expected with 8 people around a table. Good value for the money especially the lunch menu. Much more reasonably prices.
We had the best time. We celebrated our anniversary and the staff did a great job to make us feel welcome and very festive. Thanks Benihana! We'll be back!!!
Went here for the first time for my husbands Birthday and it was a hit! Food was delicious, amazing demonstration with the chef cooking and kids had a fabulous time... Highly reccomend for a fun and entertaining evening. We will go again and we are looking forward to trying the Benihana's in Santa Monica too!
Very disappointed. We made reservations two days in advance. Reservation was for 8:00pm, we arrived at 7:30pm. Standing room only, upon arrival we checked in and was told that we probably would not be seated until 10:00pm, there were people there that had 6:30 seating time and still had not be given a time for their seating. We could not wait until 10:00 to be seated so we left. The gentlemen at the desk was over whelmed and showed it. Not sure we will be going back there soon.
We were seated 1 hour after our reservation. Just awful.
Even with a reservation we still waited almost an hour and a 1/2 for our table to be ready. The waiting area is overcrowded with barely enough room to move but management did make up for it with free drinks from the bar and special gifts for the little ones.
We waited over one hour in a crowded foyer even with our reservation for my daughters special birthday dinner. When we checked on our progress there was little graciousness or apology for the long wait. Food was fair. Almost too loud to converse, wait staff was good as was the chef. We won't go back for the price.
Utter chaos! You can't make this stuff up!
To start, our reservation was at 6:15 and we were sat at nearly 7:15. When I checked on the status at the front around 6:45, I was told they had numerous 6:00 reservations they still hadn't sat and they needed to do so before they would seat us. No explanation as to why. When we were finally sat, service was SLOW! We didn't even get our salad until way after the chef had started cooking in front of us. During his "performance," the chef missed throwing the egg into his hat and threw a raw egg directly into my boyfriend's lap, covering his pants with yolk!!!! The chef just looked at him like, "well I guess I need to get another egg." No apology, no extra napkins, no cleaning up the rest of the egg under Todd's chair, nothing! Our entire party was shocked. The food was mediocre at best too. As the waitress came to box our food and get our ice cream order, she placed the to-go bags on the hot hibachi grill and of course they melted everywhere. She just up and left as the stench of burning plastic started permeating the room. A guy finally came to scrape it off and did a pretty terrible job. I certainly wouldn't want to be the next person to sit in my seat and eat off that grill! As I started this post, utter chaos! I will not be back.
