Welcome to Benihana and a dining experience unlike any other! Our guests are seated at communal tables in groups, where your personal chef will perform the ancient art of Teppanyaki. Watch as we slice and dice, preparing a meal that will dazzle your eyes as well taste buds, whether you choose mouth-watering steak, tender chicken or succulent seafood. You can also enjoy sushi prepared by a talented sushi chef and indulge in a specialty cocktail. Benihana has been a beloved institution in Contra Costa County for over thirty years. The restaurant is located in Willows Shopping Mall not far from Waterworld and the Concord Pavilion concert venue. Benihana Concord features two private dining rooms with seating for groups of eight to twenty guests. The beautifully-renovated lounge offers sushi and a selection of hibachi grill dining options. An 18% service charge is added to all guest checks for parties of eight or more.

Utter chaos! You can't make this stuff up!

To start, our reservation was at 6:15 and we were sat at nearly 7:15. When I checked on the status at the front around 6:45, I was told they had numerous 6:00 reservations they still hadn't sat and they needed to do so before they would seat us. No explanation as to why. When we were finally sat, service was SLOW! We didn't even get our salad until way after the chef had started cooking in front of us. During his "performance," the chef missed throwing the egg into his hat and threw a raw egg directly into my boyfriend's lap, covering his pants with yolk!!!! The chef just looked at him like, "well I guess I need to get another egg." No apology, no extra napkins, no cleaning up the rest of the egg under Todd's chair, nothing! Our entire party was shocked. The food was mediocre at best too. As the waitress came to box our food and get our ice cream order, she placed the to-go bags on the hot hibachi grill and of course they melted everywhere. She just up and left as the stench of burning plastic started permeating the room. A guy finally came to scrape it off and did a pretty terrible job. I certainly wouldn't want to be the next person to sit in my seat and eat off that grill! As I started this post, utter chaos! I will not be back.

Reservation was at 7:15, at 7:45 they were barely seating reservations of 6:30. Left and went elsewhere. Don’t make a reservation, you will wait. Staff in the front refused to tell us how long it would take.

We had a 6:45 reservation for my sons 16th birthday for 8 of us. We checked in and were told “give us 5 or 10 minutes”...We were seated at 7:45. When I checked at 7:15 to see how our table was coming, the host told me there were 3 other 6:45 parties that needed to be seated still. No “sorry about the wait” or explanation. When we were finally seated, the host, without a word, walked by, set 2 cards on the table or a free dessert, still without a word. My advice to all hosts is tell your customers the truth! If you’re short-handed or something, people understand these things happen,. When you are told 5 or 10 minutes and are seated an hour later, customers are fuming by then... this is not the first time this has happened at Benihana but it will be the last— I won’t be going back!

the place has lost its lustre from the old days. people coming in baggy pants, hoodies(both white and black).
There was a ling strip of toilet paper on the floor which I told to the young man at the front desk but he didnt seem to care. The older man who was running ariund doing most of the work picked it up.
There was awomen at the table next to ours being very loud and seemed like she was drunk.
The food was good but not worth the price.

We had reservations At 130pm and weren’t seated until 2. Our sever took 15 Mins to acknowledge us, and the teppanyaki chef didn’t come out until 3pm. It was poor experience all together.

We had a 6:45 pm reservation and were not seated until almost an hour later at around 7:35pm. There were so many others besides us that were waiting over an hour from their reservation time due to a party that arrived earlier and was basically overstaying. Very disappointed in the management and how they honor (or in this case not honor) reservations. Other than that, once we were finally seated - our servers, the food and everything else was wonderful.

I would have gave 5 stars for service but my soup had a strand of hair on it that the hostess brought out. They need to wear hair nets if they gonna be bringing out food.

Valentines Day. Food was good. Server wasn’t as attentive. A table sat after us & was served first & I saw their server more than ours. Server forgot to include my lobster so it was late & had to be cooked along side the steak & chicken. No apologies. My ahi Tuna was over cooked. I even told the cook that was enough & he either didn’t listen or just didn’t hear me. He just straight up cooked. No show as in the past.
It was an ok experience. Been there before & it’s not the experience I normally get.

We went for lunch which was a very nice experience. HOWEVER, when we returned for dinner Saturday, Feb. 17th, the experience was horrible prior to being seated. We had reservations for 6:15pm, our entire party was there before our reservations but that didn't matter. We stood around in a crowded (approx. 30+ persons) lobby for 35 mins. before being seated. From reading other reviews, it appears to be a common problem. It's obvious management has not made any adjustments either by making the the reservations not so close together, presenting the customers with a complimentary drink, etc. They can even offer to have the overflow into the lounge/bar area where I have no doubt some would order a drink. They made NO apologies. I will never come back for dinner!!

Our reservation was for 8pm and didn't get seated until 9pm. Did not get the chef to our table until 945pm. This was a common problem this night while talking with other customers.

After waiting nearly an hour for our table(we had a reservation) we were finally seated. Drinks were ordered and sat on the bar for 20 minutes before a manager brought them over after complaining they had been sitting there so long. I expect to be there for 2 hours when we go for a special occasion but this visit was unbelievably bad that we won’t go back. The young couple sitting at our table played music and videos with inappropriate language and they were sitting next to our minor daughters.

The restaurant seems to be declining in the service area. The hostess’s seemed rushed and confused. Our chef also seemed rushed. Not sure we will go back. We used to go several times a year.

Fun environment! Loved hailing the ability to book a reservation in advance. This restaurant is sought after and now we know why! Great fun, great food, and excellent service. We celebrated our sons 27th birthday and the food was great!! Totally loved the garlic fried rice!! We had a very fun time.
