The only issue was I asked not to be seated with no one other then my family, that's not sick. Due to me having and powerful medication that has weaked my immune system. A family was placed with my family. The boy was coughing not covering his mouth, moving around and making noises.
This was my first time going & it was pretty fun! The chef was cool & did some cool tricks. It was a nice experience, food being cooked in front of you & the entertainment. I would definitely go again. It was a birthday dinner :) Also the waiter's were nice, they did a little birthday song lol and I'm sure my fam (brothers) enjoyed the experience too.
The rest room could be cleaner. The food was good. Its a good place is set around with friends and family to enjoy an occasion.
This place was pretty skimpy with the portion sizes. Other, than the portion size, everything was okay.
Our meals are always very good. Service is excellent.
The link for directions took us to the wrong location which caused us to be 15 minutes late. Food was incredibly good. The restaurant was very warm inside... almost unbearable. The air conditioning system was not very effective considering the heat generated from the hibachi.
Our server did a great job. She was clearly juggling more tables than normal.
The food was delicious but very overpriced. I was very disappointed with management. There were not enough servers to wait on all the tables. There was one young man Jeremy who went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed. However, there were not enough bowls for the sauce for everyone, we had to wait longer than normal for our soups and salads, and our meats came from the kitchen right as the chef was ready to cook them. I saw the manager going over to certain tables to ask how the meals and service was but he never came over to our table so I asked to speak with him. I told him that our server did an excellent job and was very polite. The manger than thanked me for telling him but also stated that Jeremy was new and sometimes gets startled with guests. I let him know that was never the case. I thought that was very rude and unprofessional. I wondered why he would say such a bad thing about his staff when that was never a problem. If anything the problem was with management not making sure that this young man had enough staff to assist him on this busy night. Jeremy was clearly overworked even though he didn't complain and he apologized multiple times for the wait times always with a smile and light jokes. Perhaps the manager should have stepped in and helped out. This used to be my favorite restaurant but the price did not match the quality and promptness of service which again was not Jeremy's fault. Bottom line- the manager needs to step it up and be more professional. He should have been building his server up instead of trying to tear him down and embarass him. Benihana needs to do better! I was very disappointed.
I enjoyed the chef. The food was very tasty and the experience of watching it being cooked in front of you. I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The shrimp and the scallions was amazing and the rice was well seasoned
Great service from the hostess to the chef . Even the restaurant manager came to greet us . Definitely a place to visit if you like Japanese food.
Not feeling the service. Chef was tired and complaining about how many hours he worked. Had kids with us for a birthday and just felt for what we paid we could have went elsewhere and had more fun.
Seems like the place went down to me since we were there last. We celebrated 3 birthdays that night and thought we had coupons,, Nope, Chief was moderate at best. nice guy though.. all in all it is no longer worth the money that was spent.
My husbands birthday
There is no reason I would recommend this restaurant. The wait was too long. (And I had reservations) The bartender was ignorant. It was filthy. Tables were not cleaned off after customers left. This used to be a wonderful dining experience. It no longer is. My jaw dropped at how bad it now is.
Saturday night nightmare. We were expecting a high-end teppanyaki experience and left 2 hours and 30 minutes later traumatized. Serious training and cleanliness issues.
Rice was sticky. Teriyaki sauce was too sweet. Benihana in Troy,MI is 100 x better. I won’t be back.
Upon arrival, we knew this was a bad idea. Manager yelling at the host to seat certain areas. Waitresses yelling because they had to work. Once seated, took an hour to get beverages. Ordered a six course meal, which included a soup and a salad as an appetizer. The chef arrived to our table to start preparing our main courses, then the waitress decided to bring our apps. THANK GOD FOR THE CHEF!!! The food was outstanding. Perfectly cooked steak and seafood. If it wasnt for the food, this visit would have probably been the worst expierence I ever had at a restaurant.
Our family eats at Benihana's often. The food is good and the chefs are very entertaining.
Been coming for years for special occasions. Chef Ron is AMAZING, my favorite chef :)
The food tasted amazing. If only it was given together at one time. Each component was given separately. The vegetables were even on the plate before the appetizer.
The credit card processor broke down so we were there for quite a while.
I’ve done hibachi, but the portions were tiny. The computer went down and we waited forever for our check then forever for them to deduct my coupon for my birthday. Finally I left my husband there because I was running late. It was honestly quite ridiculous. The manager was very unapologetic about the situation. Our server and cook were great though.
Everything was professional, friendly and delicious
My friend and I visit Benihana 2 times/year. The service has been all over the place, but this time it was very good. Friendly, quick, attentive, all the things you want in a server. Food was good, chef was friendly. All in all it was one of the better experiences I've had at the restaurant in a long time.
My daughter took me for my birthday. We enjoy the good food that we don't get everyday. Good service, friendly and nice atmosphere.
Service was poor and very slow. The cooks were overwhelmed and overworked. Overpriced for poor service!
Ron was our chef and he did an excellent job! He went out of his way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience!
Celebrated a birthday with 9 of us, ages 21 months to 68 years. Everyone enjoyed the meal. Carl, our chef, was great and prepared a delicious meal for us. He entertained the little ones with his little gimmicks. Our only complaint was that it was very hot in the restaurant.
Fun experience for a family birthday dinner! Food was good and it was very entertaining to watch!
Good food service and atomspher. We really enjoyed our selves. We didn't have to wait long n our table and the lounge area was good with great service as well. We will be back for another date night.. hopefully bring some friends.
Way to expensive! I spent over 200 hundered for the 4 of us - really!! Food was ok, but ouch!
Celebrated for my birthday. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves.
You now have to PAY EXTRA for garlic butter. That's ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!! The garlic butter is the best thing about Benihana. I'm not going back until my sster's birthday and she has her $30 off certificate to use. Until then, I'm going to Wasabi. I was told they give rice AND pasta with your meal.
Also, the happy hour prices are insane! Their happy hour price should be the regular ptcie of the items.
As always, the food was great and so was the service. One of my favorite places to dine.
This was my first time at Benihana and it was very enjoyable. We will definitely be back. The atmosphere, the staff, and the food was amazing!
50 cents for garlic butter? Really?
Great place. Very friendly staff. We feel however the bar should have 2 people attending it. They only have one guy poor thing busts his butt.
Great food & chefs are awesome
The food is always amazing and entertaining to watch right in front of you. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for our chef to begin cooking on a Monday night. The food is prepared in different stages so your rice is usually cold before your steak is finished cooking. Our waitress was wonderful! IMO this is one of the more expensive habatchi restaurants in the area.
My friends and I arrived for our 630 reservation. We were told we had to wait to be seated. We were not seated until 750. Initially the waitress was attentive and we got our drinks, soup and salad quickly but then had to wait over 45 minutes for our cook to start making our food. We were disappointed with how long it took especially since it was a Monday night. It was not the chefs fault as it appears they were understaffed but I couldn’t imagine the wait we would have had if it was a Friday or Saturday. The manager did offer at 20% discount which was great, however, the bill had a significantly lower discount. (7%). I love going for the atmosphere and food but to have to wait that long is unacceptable.
