Benihana - Cleveland Ratings and Reviews
It was a busy night so service was slightly slow, however the chef made it so worth the wait. I've been coming to Benihanas for years not only for my birthday but because I love the atmosphere and the food. Thursday my food was seasoned so perfect, didn't have to ask for more garlic or seasonings. My chef was a female that I pre judged however she was the best I've ever had in the past ten years. She didn't drop a knife, she didn't leave an egg shell, she stayed professional and cooked with protection
As always, the food was outstanding. I have never been disappointed in that department. However, the service was miserable. Due to two of the chef's calling off, we did not get a chef until almost two hours after we were seated. Our reservation was for 7:00 pm and we did not start eating until 9:30. I realize it was a bit beyond the restaurants control, but still not the best service. We were not even offered a free drink or money off for our long wait...only a mere apology. It was a bit of a disappointment all around.
Most of the staff were friendly. Our chef Curtis and the host (I cannot remember his name) were friendly and made good conversation with us. Our waitress was not so friendly. I do not know her name either. I simply asked her a question and she barked back at me and said "YES! It's coming!" I was like oh. My teriyaki chicken, vegetables, shrimp, white rice and yum yum sauce were delicious! My noodles were nasty. Hard, crunchy and had a weird sour taste to them. If I ever go back to Benihana I will order everything I did last time minus the noodles:)
Ron was the chef, he was outstanding, he asked each person if they were okay with the way he cook their good, for example if you wanted butter, etc. Everyone at the table enjoyed themselves. I took my husband there for his birthday.
We frequent this restraurant often. Our last visit was average, the chef was tired and didn't spread the food around evenly, it was as if we were sitting on the wrong side. And he was very slow.
We'll be back but I hope that everyone is energetic and upbeat.
Nice atmosphere but the lights above the hibachi tables were filthy and covered in grey dust. I felt that it was falling unto the plates. There were NO Japanese chefs cooking on the Hibachi..which ruined the authentic feel and experience. Lastly, the food portions were horribly tiny for a $40 plate. I left more hungry than when I came.
Food was unimpressive. For the price really unacceptable. Will never return and will tell everyone I know not to go. I had steak and lobster. Steak was like jerky. Lobster was okay. Chicken was dry. Iced cream had freezer burn. Place was nice and staff was good. But the food. No no no!!
Horrible experience. It took an hour for us to get served our first appetizer (soup). Almost 2hrs before the chef came to our table to cook. I was almost there for 3hrs and it wasn't even crowded. The manager was not very accommodating for the level of service provided. I used to LOVE Benihana but lately with this current management, service and the timeliness of serving the customers, it has gone downhill. I wont be back until things change (MANAGEMENT).
I always enjoy myself at this restaurant. The food is good but it is always more than I can eat in one setting. I always take home my leftovers! There were three people at my table, including me, celebrating birthdays. The waitress, Azariah, was outstanding! She was very friendly and efficient. She made our special day one to remember. The $30 coupon, the song, the candle in the ice cream, and the photograph were also an appreciated addition! My only complaint is that the price was rather high. But since I was celebrating my birthday, my date paid for all the extras. I was only responsible for the tip because Azariah was the best!
Glad to see the service improve. My last 2 visits were mediocre at best. The chefs were good, minimal wait time and the staff was friendly. Looks like some changes were made to improve the service. Im glad because it was going to be my last visit. I'll be back!
New management hasnt done a great job keeping up with the expectations of guest thats been coming for years..my husband and i used to come once a week now we only come once every 2 months. Service has been very slow with servers waiting on too many tables which is disappointing. Also they charge extra for garlic butter now for guests spending at least 75$ for 2 people ..extra charges like that seem unnessecary. Also there is no domestic beer on draft another let down
Two of the three of us arrived 15 min early. Our third was a little late (15 min) so we had to wait. We waited until 715 to be seated. Once we were seated we ordered drinks. The waitress forgot mine and my friends drink. The third one we had an issue with. My friend does not drink alcohol and asked for a virgin drink. They told her they couldn't do it. We asked them why. It was just juices mixed together. All they needed to do was not put in the vodka. It took us talking to a manager to have them do it. We all had soups at this point and we still didn't get our drinks. So finally I asked and she brought them out. We got our salad and about 25 minutes later the cook came over. Thank goodness for him because he saved the whole night. He was super friendly, very nice and the food was great! We got there at 6:15 and did not leave until 9:35 it was a long night. Had the cook, Kevin I believe his name was, not been so great I probably would have considered not going back.
We had the worst experience at Benihana last night from start to finish. First of all the air conditioner was either not working or it was off, it was so hot and uncomfortable we all left feeling sick from the heat. Second, we made reservations for 5 seats being 4 adults and a high chair, they crammed us in a table with 4 more people when only 8 people fit in a table. Regardless of it being a high chair it still takes space. We were planning on ordering food for our daughter but not only we didn't get offered a kids menu but we also had no space on the table for her. My husband wanted his fillet Medium same as his dad, his dad got his steak done and the chef just let my husbands steak sit there cooking for 10 more minutes. We kept talking about how his steak was only medium and she still left it there. We asked for our steaks with garlic butter and when I saw her put the fillet without garlic butter on my husbands plate I asked to make sure it had butter and she simply just put a spoon full of cold butter on his plate. My husband said he didn't want veggies and she ignored and put all the veggies on his plate and doubled the onions. His over cooked steak had to sit on top of onions he didn't want. onions add a lot of flavor to the food. My fillet was supposed to be medium well and it was not only over cooked but also cooked as long as my husbands. I said I didn't want shrimp and she still put it on my plate, I have a slight allergy to some foods and I didn't want shrimp juice all over my plate but she still put it. They never offered the ice cream at the end, the other family asked about it and the waitress seemed bored, cmon it is included. They didn't have the sherbet (how can you run out of something so simple?) My husband got his birthday coupon and we could have gone during the week and used the coupon but we wanted to enjoy dinner with our family and went during the weekend, just to spend more money and have the worst service. Extremely disappointed.
Our reservation was for 8. We were seated and ordered drinks. Our drinks didn't arrive until 8:30 after we repeatedly asked our server for them. Then she brought water but we all wanted lemon and apparently they were out of lemons. The finally brought our soup at 8:45, and then she came back and said that they were not going to bring our salads because they were out of salad dressing. I spoke up and said that if the table wasn't getting salad then that should be taken off our bill. She came back 5 min later with salads with salad dressing... finally at 9 as we were thinking about getting up and walking out our chef arrived to prepare our meal. However he was disappointed to discover that his area was not prepared with bowels and everything else that he needed. He cooked the zucchini and then realized he didn't have enough zucchini for everyone so someone had to forgo their portion. Then he was passing out the shrimp and saw that he didn't have enough shrimp at all. He was embarrassed that they had not prepped him properly. He had to turn off his station and go to the kitchen to get the rest of the shrimp that he should have already had..we complained to the manager.
Hibachi is always so much fun but this restaurant was in shambles. It was the worst hibachi experience we had ever had. Will NOT be going back.
I would not recommend this Benihana location. Our reservation was at 7pm and we arrived on time. It was 8:30pm before a chef arrived at our table. An hour and a half wait before they began cooking food is totally unacceptable. They didn't have enough chefs and the long wait made for a really poor overall experience. My kids were starving and my son opened up a gift from his grandmother so they could snack on the goodies inside while we waited. This is the second time I've been there and the service was abysmal. We will not go back.
