Great place. Very friendly staff. We feel however the bar should have 2 people attending it. They only have one guy poor thing busts his butt.
Great food & chefs are awesome
The food is always amazing and entertaining to watch right in front of you. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for our chef to begin cooking on a Monday night. The food is prepared in different stages so your rice is usually cold before your steak is finished cooking. Our waitress was wonderful! IMO this is one of the more expensive habatchi restaurants in the area.
My friends and I arrived for our 630 reservation. We were told we had to wait to be seated. We were not seated until 750. Initially the waitress was attentive and we got our drinks, soup and salad quickly but then had to wait over 45 minutes for our cook to start making our food. We were disappointed with how long it took especially since it was a Monday night. It was not the chefs fault as it appears they were understaffed but I couldn’t imagine the wait we would have had if it was a Friday or Saturday. The manager did offer at 20% discount which was great,however, the bill had a significantly lower discount. (7%). I love going for the atmosphere and food but to have to wait that long is unacceptable.
1. Overwhelming smell of bleach in lobby- should have been a red flag for me
2. 1:00 pm reservation we waited over 45 minutes for any food
3. Underwhelming chef
4. Server rushed the table
5. Reservation stated we had a birthday - no acknowledgment for my granddaughter
6 . The restaurant itself is very shabby and worn out
7. Stretch to say food is mediocre at best and very salty

The food quality, as always is superior to other chains. We waited over an hour before a chef was available and he was awful. He messed up/delayed orders and my husbands entree came after the rest of his food was cold, took shortcuts, over cooked items, and then tried to charge me for a pat of garlic butter! between the wait time and the cooking experience it was not good. So it all depends on your chef, how the experience is and the overall cooking and presentation of the food
I used to love this restaurant! I have been coming to Benihana since it was the samurai over 15 years ago. I had not been to Benihana for 3 years and upon my return I found it to be awful and nothing like I remembered. The service was extremely bad the waiting area was extremely crowded I had to wait 30 minutes after my reservation time and there was absolutely no service at the bar. I will not be returning to Benihana again and that makes me very sad.
Your chef makes or breaks your experience, with the hibachi style preparation at the table. Charlie proved to be a fabulous chef, from how he prepared his meal to his humor to his rolling with the punches when our server accidentally didn't translate all his notes into the number of us ordering extra fried rice--Charlie knew we were doing that for leftovers, so at the end of the meal he finished the bowl and a half missing rather than having the behind-the-scenes kitchen cooks doing it.
Took 30 mins to be sat even though we had a reservation. We’re not greeted for an additional 30 minutes. Didn’t get our food until 2 hours later. Service was incredibly slow and poor. Didn’t get my tea OR dipping sauce until almost done with food and had to ask twice. On top of EVERYTHING, the server lost my credit card and couldn’t find it for 30 mins and it ended up being on another table with other customers. She refused to take fault for it and took $10 off bill which honestly covered the cost of making the rice “chicken rice” which I never asked for to begin with. We got to restaurant at 830 and didn’t leave until 11pm and that was with asking for boxes and checks and trying to speed things up. And server charged everyone for chicken fried rice when no one asked for that and when we asked her she didn’t do anything about it. Every person at table was frustrated and confused. I am a former server and have a lot of patience but this was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.
We were seated promptly after we arrived, the server was on top of everything and we had our favorite chef, Charlie. My husband had a wonderful Birthday!
My chef Elijah was excellent and entertaining as always, unfortunately he was drowned out by a gentleman that was seated at our table who talked non stop all though dinner even with food in his mouth. A definite mood kill for our birthday celebration.
Horrible....had reservations at 8pm seated at 845 no cook at 910. We left....
Our waiter took over 30 minutes to bring us drinks, the table sat 25 minutes after ours got their soup before us, the salads weren't served until after the vegetables were cooked, and another guest was told "No" when he asked for a plate.
As hibachi fans, we were excited to try Benihana as it has a reputation and many years in the biz. Arriving at 6:45 PM for our 7 PM Open Table reservation, the place was packed. We were greeted and checked in. At 7:15, I overheard them discussing the next table to be seated (which included a group of 4 that had arrived 5 minutes after we did). I approached the podium to ask if they had any idea when our table would be ready, and they had no record of our reservation. I reminded them that when I'd given my name on arrival, she had responded with "for 2, right?" indicating that we were on the books. I got a lukewarm apology and a promise to seat us next. At 7:18 I received an e-mail from Open Table that Benihana said we were a no-show. (I immediately responded that we were still there waiting, and Open Table handled it professionally and well - thanks guys!) Then Benihana seated the group that had arrived AFTER us, and we sat for another 10 minutes. We were seated at 7:30, finally, for our 7 PM reservation. The service was quite slow; the wait between salad and the chef's arrival was another half hour or so. When our chef arrived, he was polite but unenthusiastic. I asked him how long he'd been doing this, and he responded "about a year." He didn't have the skills, tricks, and entertainment factor we've come to expect of a good hibachi experience, and he really struggled in the prep such that dinner took much longer than anticipated. He kept honing his knife but it still wasn't sharp enough, taking him a super long time to cut up just about everything. (I didn't bother to mention to him that if it's not sharp to begin with, honing won't help much... tried to keep it respectful.) Dessert was finally offered a few minutes after 9. We declined, ready to go home and relax after a disappointing experience. We will not be returning to Benihana.

Benihana is a great place for excellent food. Cooks are funny and skilled in their cooling craft.
Service is usually very good but can be slower during very busy times. Overall a great dining experience.
We went to celebrate my husband's raise and bonus. The people we sat with were really fun and the chef was fantastic! The quality of the ingredients Benihana uses is much better than the other cheaper, knock-off Japanese restaurants. Everything was delicious and we are going again for his birthday.
Our waitress was not the greatest, but the chef was incredible and the food was tasty.
Horrible experience. For starters, our waitress was extremely slow (I've worked in the service industry so I understand the pressure during busy hours. We were 1 of 2 tables). Majority of my table ordered soup and salad. We received our soup but salad wasn't served until our hibachi was plated (1 hour later!). I ordered Sushi. As soon as my roll arrived, I asked for sauces which should have come upon arrival of the sushi but with patience, I waited for about 15 minutes before I walked over to the sushi bar to grab it myself. But those are small things to a giant. The worst part was seeing a LIVE ant crawling on our plate. We were given new plates but the manager didn't seem to be concerned at all about the issue. To top it off, when we went to approach him about our experience, he was doing everything in his power to avoid us so that he wouldn't have to deal with our issues. I often eat here but after the horrible experience I had recently, I will not be giving them anymore of my business. That sucks bc I actually really love the FOOD from there. Not so sure about the service. (By the way, I do have video footage of the live ant crawling on my plate in case anyone is curious).
It was a little slow getting a chef to our table, but everyone was super nice and the food was great. My kids had a wonderful time.
Very disappointed in the food and cook. The cook was boring and food mediocre. They knew it was my birthday, no singing happy birthday, no picture. Me and my grandchildren we disappointed.
Ron was our chef and he was one of the sweetest, funniest people and did his job amazingly well.
Went for my 10 year olds birthday it was 7 of us and we all had a good time. Everyone was full and enjoyed the experience! Chef was very attentive and creative.
Literally the WORST dining experience we have ever had. I do not even know where to begin. The family sitting next to us when we sat down at our table had been waiting an hour and still did not have drinks. They walked out. We then sat for 50 minutes (with a hungry 4 year old). Ordered a sushi roll, came out with Avocado that was LITERALLY black, totally spoiled, absolutely gross. Even the server was appalled that they would send something out in this condition.
I could go on and on, the most concerning thing is how disgusting and dirty the restaurant was, and this is based on what I could see openly. Cannot imagine how horrible the conditions are behind the scenes. The entire restaurant waiting area was filled with furious people waiting. To make it even worse, everything is grossly overpriced. We dine out a LOT, this was the WORST EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD WITHOUT QUESTION. I could go on and on. It takes a lot for me to actually leave an extensive review like this.
I have been to other locations and usually love the good. Sadly this location was not up to par mostly based on food and value. If the food was better I wouldn't have minded paying the expensive prices, however, the food was subpar.
We had a reservation at 6:00pm and we were seated shortly after we arrive. Things when downhill from that point. The sushi we ordered took 25 minutes to arrive and our table waited at least 30 minutes after we finished our salads for the chef to arrive. Horrible timing and gaps in service.
The stairs suck. The service sucked. Not alot of food for the price. They charge you extra for fried rice. Couldnt get our drinks refilled. Wanted veggies all together not one at a time... could do tons better gonna try one more time but not holding my breath
I have been coming to Benihana for a very long time and some of the policy’s they have changed I do not like. For example getting charged for xtra garlic butter is unessary and having to wait for the server to bring it when the cook has a pan full of it is ridicules my shrimp was over cooked due to waiting for the server to bring me what the cook already had. I have never been to any restaurants that charge for butter.
Server was all over the place my fiance had to wait 45mins for steam rice everyone else including me had rice and full entree.. Food was delicious chef was amazing
There were 3 of us and we were seated with five other people who were larger people so I was a little cramped due to sitting on the corner. I was asked to Scooch down but there was no place to move down to. It was a little uncomfortable but we made the best of an uncomfortable situation. Ron was our chef and he did a remarkable job. The party we were seated with had quite an unusual order for him. Their orders were so confusing that Ron and our party were Confused as well.
As always our experience was outstanding. We look forward every year to our birthday celebration and this year was just as great.
Food was best i have had at benihana for years. Because of new chef named Tot. Really cooked the food well and was very entertaining.
My overall experience was great. Only disappointment was that I made a reservation for my birthday a week ahead and never received a certificate for my free meal. Other than that, the food was devine and service was excellent.
Our Chef made the meal. He was very personable as well as very entertaining. His name is Tot in case you can request him.
The cook and waitress was very nice and playful. The restaurant was clean and quite. I’ve been to Benihana several times before and the later you go the more crowed and noise it will be. So we set the lid reservation for 2pm. Great visit at the Cleveland location!!
We had a reservation for 6:00, got seated at 6:40, waited until 8:30 for our main course ! Only 3 chefs working ( all obviously over worked), horible waitress who never brought anything we asked her for and ignored our table ,could not be found
Horrible service horrible experience!!! For my first time ever I will never return!!!
