Food was very good. Our chef at the table was great. He was super funny and personable. The rest of the atmosphere was lack luster. Our server was forgetful and the presence of an armed security guard set a strange tone. Overall we enjoyed our experience.
Took my wife this past Thursday 3/15/18 for her Birthday. We had a 6:45pm reservation we didn’t sit until 7:15pm
The food was pretty good I must say, but the service was terrible. Our waiter says she was super busy to give great service.
Nonetheless we saw tables being sang Happy Birthday and no one came and sang Happy Birthday day to my wife. I will not come share and occasion at that one ever again.
Luckily the food is outstanding, because for the value the service is always bad. The servers have way to many 8 top tables, and they can’t juggle the customers fairly. You sit down at reserved time of 6:15, but no chef until 7. And finally at 8:30 I’m able to leave. It’s an investment of time. Which would be ok if your taken care of while you wait.
The manager on duty, wouldn’t acknowledge the poor service with the unhappy people at my table. He grabbed bills and made no eye contact or apologies. He ran for the hills. A lady at my table was irate with the server, who said “well I’m sorry I have a lot of tables” and stormed off leaving this lady screaming for a manager. Who popped in and grabbed the bill and ran. They clearly aren’t concerned with the customer experience.
This is the second time I’ve gotten a brand new chef, and I get it, they need to learn. And I’m patient. But these servers are always no where to be seen and not good at service. Maybe hire some more at this tri-county location.
Also, cleaner bathrooms was a rumbling at my table. Men’s toilet wasn’t working, a man had his daughter who couldn’t use it. And the women’s was cold, loud music and dirty. But this location has gone down hill in maintenance over the years, with no upgrades.
Again, if it wasn’t for the excellent food, I wouldn’t come here. But I love the food!!!
Dangerous and ridiculous ! I couldn't believe there was a shady looking security guard at the door sitting in lobby charging his phone. Felt less safe with him there. I'll bet many of the diners were packing pistols. Food was terrible. Service was terrible. Got sick afterward. Low quality. Ordered 2 carry out steak and shrimp dinners with no salad or soup or shrimp sauce per requested. We celebrate all special occasions and birthdays for 15 years but will never ever return again. I think you will be out of business very soon, no need to send gift certificates. We don't dine where we have to take security into our own hands. Good luck. Terri Kamp

Anniversary. We did order a to go meal and did not receive it, but were also not charged for it, also they took our picture to give us, but did not. Minor things, overall it was pleasant.
well for starters it was my birthday and didn’t receive my birthday thing from the chef table haven’t gotten it for 2 years and yes i was signed up for it, had to wait 40 mins after making reservations at 8:15 waitress kept forgetting stuff like what everybody ordered then had to wait several times on our drinks, chef had to go back and forth getting stuff that waitress should have had out already, chef was also messy with the food the couple next to us might have bin warring it versus eating it! i have bin going to benihana’s for 36 years always on my birthday this year was the worst i have ever experienced !!!!!
Chef Chris was great. Company around hibachi nice. 8:15 reservation. Got sat at 9:00. “ sorry we forgot about you”. Server was even worse. No soup or skid starter for 45 minutes. Finally Chris arrived tried hard to provide a good. experience. His cart lacked ingredients and our server was Mia to back bar and help. Poor Chef. We did not get done till 11 pm.
Carpet in dining area was torn, bathroom floors sticky. Finishes tired. First and last visit to this location. Hope Chris finds a better place to support his good attitude and work ethic.
This is one of my favorite places to eat. Always satisfied.
I think that Benihana Restaurants are very generous with there $30 coupon for food for a person's birthday. My family and I enjoy going there. The food is very good!
The experience depends very much on the chef, we had a good one! Always enjoy the food.
My last experience was a total upset feeling well as a very disappointed situation for me due to the fact i was on a date trying to impress my friends cause I've been coming to this restaurant for years an always had good food well as service,an i love the atmosphere so that's why i chose this spot,but now my date never wanna go back again,an that's reason is because on March7,2018 i had made us reservations at 12:30pm , The cook overcooked all the food and vegetables had burnt taste,then waiter didn't show no type of health on what come with the food or the best option of order our food, just was so shockin to me because this consider one of my favorite restaurant it actually made me not want to recommend anyone to ever go there after that experience.But , i will say me myself personally gonna try them again but i must say the food is too expensive for the chef to give people poor food cooked,an waitress not to help customers with menu an other service.So due the fact i still consider this one of my favorite restaurant so therefore ima give it another try.
Food was really good, the service was horrible we waited 1 1/2 hr for the chef to come cook our food.
I have been to this location many times but I have to say our cook made the best food I have ever had there! Can't wait to go back. I wish I knew his name.
It was my birthday and it was the worst experience I ever had at Benihana I’m upset because normally my experience be great! However I didn’t leave until 11:30 pm got there at 7:30!

It was the worst experience I have ever had at Benihana. I always loved going to Benihana but after Sunday I will not be returning. The prices have gotten ridiculous - even with a reservation at 2:30 we still didn't get seated until 3:45. We finally got seated and we still had to wait another 1 1/2 before we got a cook. We were in Benihana's for 4 hours. Then to top it off we had a question about our bill and the tip they took out . We felt that even though we had a party of 8 - three in our party were children so quite naturally they wouldn't get a bill. So the 18% gratuity was very high and we were told that's your policy now. With that being said your manager on duty that evening Ms. Sowder told us she would call the police on us if we didn't pay our bill. No one said that they weren't going to pay there bill we just asked a question. While we were paying our bill we looked up and two police officers was coming to our table, which was very unbelievable. The police were very nice and gave us his card with corporate number and Ms. Sowder name on the back. With this experience I will not be returning to Benihana's again. I have never been to a restaurant and had the police called on me. Our party was very embarrassed by your manager and this situation.
Seated 20 min late did not receive drinks till 9:30. No waiting staf got all my own drinks and only 3 out of 6 courses it was 10:30 before our issue was finally resolved. Bartender received my tip only one who provides any service. Broken window behind me leaking in large amount of outside air. They did comp everyone meal I was just exhausted after three almost four hours with barely any food
We’re long time customers and are disappointed at the continued decline of the experience

When me and my wife went Tuesday it sucked service was bad. It took 1 1/2 hours before we got our food. Chef didn't know what he was doing. Messed up on my order and on my wife order never once looked at the recite that had everything everyone got on it. Asked everyone at the table what they got several times. A lot has changed I don't like the new way they do things. Don't think I will be return again. My menu was nasty sticky. Not happy one bit with this experience.
We had a reservation for 9:15 we didn't get a cook until almost 10:30. Didn't get our soup and salad until the cook came. Just sitting and waiting for a cook. What was the point of the reservation?
Oh gosh. I hate to do this but this was a frightening experience. I took my 5 year old there for the first time to celebrate my birthday. Right away you could tell some things were off. I first noticed a large sign that said they reserve the right to throw you out for not dressing appropriately. We were dressed nicely to reflect the enormous price tag on all the dishes. Then I noticed a security guard sitting by the entrance to the dining room. I almost left but couldn't let my excited daughter down. I used to go here when I was a child and boy how things have changed. Our reservation was for 7pm on a Monday and we did not start the cooking process until 8:30pm. They did not remember to start heating up our table so we had to move to another table. We still had to wait for that to heat up. All of the wait staff was flustered and did not get any orders correct. It was a giant mess. I felt so bad for everyone who worked there because it was obvious to everyone that things were not going well for most tables. The manager gave my table a discount on their tabs. I will never go there again. It saddens me because it is a place with great childhood memories and now I don't even feel safe going there. I hope they can turns things around.
We LOVE Benihana’s food... we typically go 2-4 times per year to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Unfortunately, the service at the Tri- County Benihana has seemed to decline over the years. It’s a shame because it is such a good restaurant with delicious food. This dinner we had lasted OVER 3 hours! It was a school nite and we were there from 6:15-9:30. No excuse for that.
The service wasn't good, very slow and not efficient. Ordered white rice with dinner, didn't get it until 2/3 done with meal. Steak over cooked and full of gristle , shrimp and tuna over cooked.
Ok wait time for table, 1.5 hours wait time for chef. Witch was way to long. Bathrooms were dirty so were the tables and floor. Service was par at best. Food was good as always. But would not go back unless changes were made. I do understand they have a new manager and he is working on a change.
This has to be one of the worse dining experiences I have had in some time. I had a reservation for 2, even showed up 15minutes early. The hostess informed me that it would be over an hour wait because there was an issue with some of the chefs. I understand problems, what I don’t understand is the lack of a plan on how to deal with the problem. When we explained we wouldn’t wait, they didn’t care or offer to fix the problem or invite us back another time. Horrible.
VERYYY Rude Manager and the hostess service sucks. I used to love Benihana for the experience but CINCINNATI'S BENIHANA experience is the worst ever now that they have these new inexperienced managers who want to be confrontational with customers instead of defusing situations and holding their staff accountable for providing the experience that Benihana is known for. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and EMBARRASSING for the brand!
The chefs are very entertaining, efficient and attentive. Very active atmosphere.
Horrible service...long wait. We had to switch chefs two times. The waitress got our order wrong 3 times. And pipes are coming out of the wall to assist with the exhaust. The restroom for filthy.
The service was terribly slow. We waited 50 minutes for the chef to come out with the food to begin cooking. The restaurant was extremely loud as well.
The service was pretty bad. Asked for booster seat 3 times .. plates were not cleared. Didn’t offer green tea that comes with meal and had to ask for dessert twice. There is construction going on so ambiance was lacking. The food was good and chef was good too.
Food was amazing, both server and chef were friendly, efficient and prompt!
Needs updating for the cost of money, we were there almost 2 hours.
This place has really went down poor quality food and customer service
I would say the first thing that comes to mind is the security guard that was in the lobby. All night I was asking myself, why does a hibachi grill need a security guard.
The second thing that comes to mind is the "dress code" sign in the lobby. Yet as I looked around at all of the people in sweatshirts and sweat pants I couldn't help but find myself over dressed in my jeans and polo shirt.
Once we finally sat down with our $3.50 happy hour priced bud lights, my eyes drifted down to the grill that had a few left over scraps of rice and chicken that were wiped away with a towel that appeared to have a layer of burnt rice on it already. Then I thought to myself if the happy hour bud lights are $3.50, what is the regular price? $5.50. $5.50 for a bud light in a janky restaraunt in Tri-County...
Overall my rating was skewed a little high because the overall ambiance just made for such a good story.

I was there twice in a week after nearly a year long hiatus due to poor service (several visits) my first return visit the food and service were both great! The second return was awful!! The hostess was just ok, the chef very friendly, but didn't do well cooking, he did say that it was his first time and I clapped and encouraged him that he would do well, to my disappointment he did not! He simply wasn't ready at all several of us customers had to remind him of ingredients more than once! It was a joke food was under cooked. A manager to only 15% off the bill and me and my friend didn't eat 10% of the food again the chicken and shrimp were both under cooked and the rice was extremely bland! Tossed all of it in the trash!!!!!
the worst service I've ever had in my life, I would never go back
This restaurant has not been updated since they opened more than 35 years ago. It is dated and very dirty. We had to wait 40 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. They were short staffed and did not let us know about the wait. After seated, it took another 40 minutes before our chef arrived. The restaurant was packed. They just seated everybody that walked in the door knowing they didn't have enough chefs. This was my daughters birthday dinner and I was very disappointed. They offered no apologies.
We really enjoyed our lunch at Benihana. We plan on coming back maybe for dinner would love to receive some dinner coupons
