Benihana - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
Benihana felt run down and out dated from the 1st step in the door. The carpet was sticky under my feet as I waited for my table. The bathroom didn't feel clean. There was plywood over a window beside our table and large hoses venting through it. Very unsightly!! The food was delicious. I got a large Red drink that was $35, you would think I should feel a buzz but not even close. $35!!
Kinda mixed on the security guard in the lobby. Glad he was there, but haven't been to any other restaurant that "needed" a guard.
Took my boy and other family for his 16th birthday. Was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews but it was much better than expected. Still kind of pricy (your paying for the show) but certainly fun once in awhile on a special occasion. This was a Saturday night so it was pretty busy but the service and food was decent and didn't have to wait long for anything.
This place has declined significantly over the years. I try to go to Benihana in every city I visit and I have never seen one with an armed security guard. The food is marginal and the service is slow. I prefer the Columbus, OH location and it is worth the extra miles to get there. This one should close and start over.
Food was okay - didn’t bring the correct amount of rice and had to wait on the rest of the meal while he made the additional servings. Nothing outstanding about the food this time, won’t drive over an hour to visit again any time soon. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful with menu questions.
We arrived at 615pm fir 620 reservation and checked in. Waited for our turn, even though many who arrived after us were seated. I inquired and was informed our reservation was deleted. So at approx 7pm we were finally seated. I expressed to BOTH managers tgis situation is unacceptable and something should be done (discount etc.) Both blamed each other and the system. Did nothing but make excuses!
Benihana used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill. The restaurant was not particularly clean (the bathrooms were very dirty), and they were doing some repair work that was not well cleaned up (and situated in the main dining room). Our server was working hard, but took 30 minutes to get us drinks. We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation, even though all eight people were present on time, and it was 1.5 hours before the chef even arrived! We enjoyed our food, but will not be back anytime soon due to the poor timing, service, and atmosphere.
Some time in the recent past (according to our chef) a new GM took over and now restricts the chefs from using garlic butter. That was the “secret sauce” that made it all taste so good. The service and facilities have been going downhill for a while but we continued to go because the food was good. In their attempt to increase the bottom line they’ve run it into the ground.
The service was much better than our last visit, Jorge the chef was a showman and it makes a big difference. The only thing that would have been better is that they made the rice last. Both us and the other party thought it used to be earlier before the meat/seafood and we much preferred it.
This was THE WORST time I have ever experienced at Benihana. I will NOT be back. It took the chef a whole entire hour to come out to our table. The table behind us came in about 15 min after us and were pretty much almost done eating before we even heard a sizzle on the grill. To top it off The host and/or waitress didn't even turn the grill on. The food was mediocre definitely not worth the price. This is nothing like what it used to be.
Restaurant was filthy. Waitress did not know the menu or drink menus. She was very slow. Asked her for napkins four different times. She couldn’t remember anything. Three out of seven orders were wrong. I was only supposed to have one meal on my check and she had three Bill came to $180. It took them 30 minutes to figure out my check. Used to love this place. Now it’s just a filthy mess.
I had a horrible experience.. After I placed my order I went to the website to see if they had a lunch special. The website stated all locations have different special and to call that location. I called the location and ask the representative about the specials. She put me on hold and came back to the phone and stated the lunch times were 12pm to 215pm. When arriving to location I told the host my name and reservation time she said have a seat. While we were seated the hosted returned an stated they no longer have lunch specials on Saturday. Puzzled to how she knew it was me that called. I told her I was told by associate that by phone that is was a lunch special before I can.. She told me she must've forgotten and she was sorry. I ask to speak with the manager. I explained The story again and she said sorry we no longer have lunch special. The manager was rude and dismissive. I also explained I traveled far..No empathy at all.She told me there's nothing she can do.. I was livid.I left very unhappy and I won't be back... Neither will my family and friends..
Very dissatisfied customer
