Benihana - Cincinnati Ratings and Reviews
Benihana has really gone downhill. From being my weekly place for lunch it now is down on the list. They take too long to prepare the food and the clientele is demanding and obnoxious. I feel sorry for the chefs dealing with such arrogant people. The food is usually good, however, was not on this occasion. We have decided to drive an extra 20 minutes to a good hibachi grill with nicer patrons and quicker food.
Always good food. You do sit with strangers but this generally works out fine. It is pricey but we keep going back! Prices had increased since my last visit. American waitresses are much more congenital and helpful. Most of The Japanese servers are not interested in being friendly.
Great Birthday coupon!!!
We had a reservation and were seated in an empty lounge for 15 mins. The restaraunt was practically empty. Service was extremely slow. Took a full 2 hours and that was with getting our checks and boxes before we were finished. I won’t be back. It really wasn’t a positive experience for any of us.
We had a great time and the food was very good. We had a party of 6, including my sister and three boys, ages 10,11, & 20. We had the meals, as well as some sushi. Everything was very good and the younger boys really enjoyed the experience.
It is experience type dining, with an entertainment element. It is not somewhere I would go for a quick meal. Service was good, but the key is the chef.
My reservation was for 845pm. I wasn't seated until after 915pm. There was ocer a hour wait for the chef to come out & 3 people @ our table left after discussing the delay the manager Mike. He approached the table & said the chefs were finishing cooking @ two other tables then he's be with us. The wait was even longer. Once we finally received our food, they sung a quick birthday song just 2 waitresses, gave me a scoop of ice cream the time was 1130pm. The manager has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS WHATSOEVER. SHOWED ZERO EMPATHY...COULD'VE CARED LESS THAT I'D JUST WORKED 12HRS & had to deal with this substandard service.
We arrived 25 mins early and ordered a drink at the bar. We were seated 10 mins before our reservation, but the chef didn’t come to the table to start cooking for - full hour. We had drinks, soup, and salad spaced almost 20 mins apart, but we thought it was too long to wait for the food to start being cooked. Otherwise, everything was great. Excellent food and drinks, fun atmosphere as always. We would come again, but not if we were in any kind of rush.
We’ve been coming to this same location at least 6 times a year for the past 15 years. Our food was terrible. The lobster was recooked twice by the chef only to have been prepared a third time in the kitchen. My husbands Chateaubriand did not even taste like the proper cut and was way over cooked. Our pretty much one and only horrible experience there. Our server and the manager were both very kind and understanding .
We always enjoy our food at Benihana. We had a reservation, for which we were 10 minutes late, but still had to wait an additional 30 minutes before being seated. I had called to let them know we were running late, and the person who answered the phone didn’t act as if it was a problem, but the hostess that greeted us made it sound like they might not honor our reservation. Our server and chef were great, as always, so in spite of the confusion with the reservation, we would definitely go back.
Benihana is my fav restaurant to eat. I am extremely disappointed they have started nickeling & diming everything!
It started with no shrimp appetizers for lunch some years back. Then it was your birthday coupon could ONLY be used Monday thru Thursday for dinner only.
I went to Benihana today (Saturday) for lunch. Two more things have changed!!
First, all weekend melas regardless of time, are considered dinner menu items. No more lunch specials during the actual lunch time on the weekend!
Second, You now have to ask for the garlic butter???? It’s no longer provided with your rice during the cooking? Wtf!?!?! We had to ask for garlic butter and if we wanted more we had to pay $1.50 per dish.
I’m sure I will still continue to go to Benihana since it’s my favorite restaurant but I will definitely go a lot LESS often because of the nickeling & diming now. They have lost some of my business.
Reception staff was nice. Chef was inexperienced but tried hard. Food was not good, my chicken was raw, had to be recooked and my husbands steak was requested medium but made well and ended up like leather. Place was filthy and in need of a desperate remodel. Wouldn't recommend.... seriously disappointed as it was my daughters 10th birthday and we drove from KY.
Sad. For years and years Benihana has been our go-to place for special dinner celebration. No more. The least few years it has gone down hill. But we kept trying. Reservations mean nothing. I mean you can wait over an hour before being seated...... as people walk in and get seated with or without reservations. I know that party size matters with this, but not on November 14, 2017. So we wait to be seated. Then we wait to be served. While we are waiting to even be served, we have to look at a chef cooking at the next table with his pants falling down. (Photo included). A canvas picture fell off the wall and hit my husband in the head. He was ok. But the manager or whomever was on duty wanted to laugh about it..... and insist that my husband take all the canvas pictures because he didn't like them anyway. The party at the next table were also very displeased with their service. The place seems dirty. The staff is not friendly ( except for our Chef Charlie!!!). Service is just horrible. And it's not cheap to eat there...... and you expect to get the soup hot, not cold like what we were served. just overall a huge disappointment. Thank goodness we had Charlie as our chef. He was entertaining. He engaged with us. He cooked an excellent meal, even though portions are considerably smaller than when we were there earlier in the year. Benihana used to be a fun, uplifting and entertaining place to go with family or friends. Now it's depressing, unfriendly, and you have to plan o be there for 3 1/2 hours. Sad. Thank you for your time.
I think that it is ridiculous how Benihana is over charging all of their customers. $3.00 for frying my rice? Are you kidding me? I have no problem pay for chicken in my fried rice, but fried rice should come with meal being how it is hibachi. I'm not sure who came up with this bright idea, but its dumb and I wont be back.
Service and waitress was horrible. Very noisey, floor dirty. The waitress was slow we had to keep looking for her. We waited almost 2 hours to eat. It took forever for the chef to come to table. He kept getting our orders confused. There were a bunch of workers just standing around doing nothing. I hated it it turned my birthday celebration into a night mare. The service and quality of food was extremely poor. I had to wait 20 min between servings. I ordered the rockys choice he served very little veggies and shrimp. The salad lettuce was wilted due to too much dressing sitting on the salad. I would never refer anyone to dine there. For the price you pay for the meal is not worth the value, quality and service. The restaurant did not appear to be cleaned. I had to ask the person busting tables to get me a carry out container I had to find waitress to pay bill. She was preoccupied with another table. It was a horrible experience that I will never forget!!!
The food was amazing but the service was very disappointing. Our waitress had too many tables and we constantly had to go look for her. We order drinks from the bar and my spouse finally went to the bar to find out why the delay and saw our drinks just sitting there. So my spouse brought our drinks to us. It took us an hour before the chef came to our table. We did have someone at our table that was allergic to seafood. They used the excuse that they had to separate the food but the chef still cooked all the food infront of us so I don't understand why it took and hours. We truly enjoy the food but please improve on your service.
The food was great as always but the service was the worst. We had to beg for our drinks, which we never got even after we ordered them, we didn't receive all of our food/drinks and the check was given to us before we even had dessert. And no apologies for the lack of service due to being busy or any other excuse.
New cook. He was very slow. Put on no show. Cooked each item separate. I got onions. 15 minutes later I got rice. 15 min later I got chicken. 10 min later I got mushrooms. 20 min later I got my undercooked steak.
I ordered steak and chicken. All sepeately cooked. I only eat it together. It was all cold except for steak.
He was nice but terrible (cook)
Didn't receive part of our meals. One doesn't even get rice. My filet was fatty and chewy (filet not supposed to be). Charged my credit card twice and one of my friends twice bc of error. Packed in like sardines. Chef didn't do any tricks just cooked food. Used to feel upscale now you pay for upscale for mediocre. Was very upset with quality. Drinks were good but very expensive. Overall the company was great but it was not a good birthday experience. Will not go back
The food was outstanding!!! Orlando is a gem and kept the table entertained. Service on the other hand was lacking. We frequent this location 2-4 times a month and it’s hit or miss. I’ve worked in restaurants so I understand there may be issues occasionally but there shouldn’t be a problem every time I come. You rarely see management and that’s the problem at this location. NO MANAGEMENT PRESENCE ON RHE FLOOR ASKING HOW THINGS ARE GOING. Not sure if we’ll be returning for a while or finding another Hibachi Grill to frequent.
This is one if my an my kids worst experience at Benihana's it took the cook almost 45 minutes to come out after we was told they had a half an hour and then when he came out I ask why was you late he showed his shoulders like he didn't care the waiter took our money and kept our change cuz she said she thought it was for her tip we had to wait too long to get refills we had to keep asking a waiter for different things just a very bad experience that day
Service was incredibly slow, it took over two and a half hours to dine. Then, the food was mediocre at best and chef (Angel) must have been new. He didn't put on a show like the other chefs and like you would expect for meals that are $30 to $40 each. Worst of all, he used way too much pepper in his fried rice & cooked meat. Taste wasn't consistent w/ past experiences.
Keeps getting more and more expensive at the same time the quality is slipping. I wont be back.
I don't know where they are getting employees, even my last review from 2016 was absolutely horrible. are they going to temp services and could care less about service?? this time, a bus boy cleaned off a table, wiped all the rice in a pile and walked away, came back, wiped some more rice and walked away. room was cold until the grill was on. we had drinks on our tab that we didn't order and took almost 45 minutes to correct. I absolutely refuse to "bag" my own damn food and I've spent $100 for overpriced rice. again, no tip issued. outback steakhouse has better service than this for $9.95!
where are the original ladies?? they were spectacular with service.
if it wasn't for the food, which is DELICIOUS AND TASTY, OMG!! I would go to another city and hope for better service.
We went to Benihan's to have a nice girl night out dinner with some entertainment. The food was great but the cook was not entertaining and the waitress had to be new. We asked a couple times for refills and kept having to ask and sometimes we would like get the refill. We were disappointed that we traveled 45 minutes for the outcome of eating there. Did the entertaining of the cooks change?
