I’ve been celebrating my birthday here for years now. I have always used my birthday coupon by having them take the numbers from the coupon on my phone. This year they decided you had to have it printed off which they have never done before. I had a party of seven and I was not allowed to use my coupon. But I was told if there was a different manger there he would have allowed me to use it. I am very unhappy. By sister birthday is next week and she has been celebrating her birthday there as well but has now decided to celebrate somewhere else.
Birthday and anniversary
Had a pleasant time. We had reservation for 3 @ 7 but it was closer to 7:30 before seated & 8 before we had salad & soup. Seemed like short on chefs. Very loud & hot but overall food was great & chef was excellent. Thank you for bday club!!
The restaurant was great, expect the waitress lost my credit card and she didn't think it was a very big deal. The manager was very pleasant about it. I just think her mind was not on her job.
There is only one problem. When you make reservations online make sure you print your receipt and take it with you. They have trouble finding your reservations.
I dislike how my quick outing turned into a three hour mess. The wait was extremely long from the first glass of water to being able to enjoy the food . The food wasn’t seasoned very well my rice was cold by the time I received my meats of choice
We love the food and have been going to Benihana's for 20+ years. However since the new management has taken over and they got rid of a lot of staff that had been there for so long, it seems as if it has become an effort on their part to get you in and out as quickly as possible with little concern for quality. Our waitress was terribly disorganized, and then blamed us when she had the order wrong (she did the same thing to another guest at our table.) The cook was worse, telling us that since we didn't order something (which we confirmed we had actually ordered) that it couldn't be added. When we asked to change things to correct them he ignored our request stating that it was what we ordered. The food taste great, but the service is terrible. We use to go regularly, but have slowed our frequency do to the poor service.
The food wasn’t cooked long enough and I think my service was high or drank one
Not a good experience. Despite being called & told to arrive early, we had to wait for a table, waited and hr & a half for the chef & my Brother was given maybe 5 cut up pieces of chicken with his meal. When we asked to speak to the manager she brushed it off & only offered to take off the chicken. Our server was the only saving grace. He continued to apologize. It wasn't about the money for the chicken, it was simply about having a good experience for my Daughter's 12th Birthday. We will definitely choose another place next year.
Service is very slow over hour even once you are seated
We we're 15 minutes early for our reservation and still had to wait more than 45 minutes until a cook came out. Chef Charlie was his name. He and the gentleman who sat across from us had sidebar conversations the entire evening in Spanish. That led to the chef giving him 3 times as much food as everyone else. The chef made it so obvious he had to get another bowl of rice as if that was going to make up for the fact he gave the other couple more than half the food! Not to mention they charge an extra $4.10 for friend rice. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
hadnt been here in awhile. while the service was good the restaurant overall was not the same. a big sign on the door saying not to bring guns inside (which was a little daunting considering that apparently that needed to be there for a reason and I was with two small children) and then a security guard posted inside. the bathroom was very dirty. servers were nice. food was okay. not the best hibachi anymore....
It had been a long time since I have been to this Benihana and had fond memories. On arrival I was taken aback by how old and wore out the place appeared. I would say that is is 20 years past an interior remodel. The next thing that struck me was an armed guard on duty. Not good! We had reservations and were staged in the bar to await our table, not unexpected. In the bar we did not receive any drink service, had to go to the bar and order. Once seated we placed our appetizer order and were told that it would be about 25 minutes before our chef would arrive. This seemed like a long time to me. He showed up after about 20 minutes. Not to much to complain about, we were having fun. We ordered the pan fired dumplings and a sushi sampler. The dumplings were tasty but instead of a sushi sampler we received a single piece of tuna sashimi, no sushi sampler. For our meal, 3 of our party ordered steamed white rice and 2 the fried rice. They received the fried rice but we never received the steamed rice. There were no complaints about our entrees, other than the rice. Everything was cooked as requested and was delicious. I ordered the tuna steak and it was perfectly cooked and delicious. Our chef, Charlie, was great and rescued what was turning out to be an unacceptable experience. I do not recommend this Benihana and the next time I want the hibachi experience will go else where.
Tried to give an experiential dinner for first timers and it was disappointing. The hibachi tables are too many and too close together, the room lighting is bad, now shade on one window so glare was a problem. There is too much noise between the music, food cooking and all the talking going on around it’s hard to hear the person right next to you. The upkeep and maintenance of the interior needs refreshed as it’s dated and cheap quality (newly painted but already chipping tables around the grills???). It looks more like a poorly finished garage. The main reason for going there is obviously the entertainment from the chef cooking for you. While ours fixed our food properly with some demonstration of skills and it tasted ok, he wasn’t outgoing or interested in whether we were engaged. He just cooked. There was only one chef who seemed to be outgoing and wanted to entertain out of all those present. That’s something important for this type of restaurant and if that’s what you’re looking for, don’t count on it here. The food is fairly simple and good quality, but not flavorful or high end. All considered the price for a meal is extremely high for what we received. >$30 each . The staff are nice & attentive to drinks and accouterments, but perhaps kids shouldn’t automatically get 4-5 soda refills.... 3 before they even start to eat.
This time my experience wasn't great. The service was not good. I was over charged. Thankful mike the manager phoned me an made it right. I will be returning.
We've been to this Benihana's a number of times and this visit was, on the whole, pretty disappointing. The food was tasty and portions fairly generous, as is typical. Our chef was relatively new and so not as smooth and efficient as he might have been, but he did ok and was quite engaging. The rest of the service, however, was very sub-par. Slow and not very attentive, even though the restaurant was not crowded. The chef actually had to leave the station to get me a clean plate (the server had spilled sauce on my first one) and the steamed rice that I had ordered. The chef was also provided food for only 7 customers instead of 8 and had to ask for additional supplies after he had started cooking. Our serving staff, for most of the meal, was missing in action. The only thing that came quickly was the bill. It took us over 2 hrs to eat (which is slow even for Benihana's...I already expect to have to stay longer than most places since the cooking is done live). Overall, this experience was unacceptable, especially given their prices. I gave them a "recommended", only because we enjoy this type of food and experience and felt this visit was not typical. Also, their birthday club offer is a good value.
I only went here because I had the birthday coupon. The food was amazing but the service was not good. We didn't want the chicken fried rice, just the regular rice, but never got it. Half way through our meal we had to flag down our cook to get our rice- apparently our waitress was supposed to bring it out but we would have never got it is we wouldn't have asked. The meal we paid for came with green tea as well but when we asked for it the waitress got an attitude and proceeded to make up some stupid explanation saying since we ordered water we didn't get tea (which is so stupid), then another waitress told us they were out anyway since it was so close to closing (our reservation was at 7, they closed at 9- they had plenty of time to get us tea). Our meal also came with ice cream, but our waitress asked us if we wanted ice cream (we paid for it, why not just ask what kind we want?). And finally we were totally being rushed to finish our meal by our waitress and another one when it was about 15 minutes to closing. And I also wasn't seated until 7:30, even though my reservation was for 7. Not good service.
Benihana is a Japanese Hibachi restaurant. There was not 1 Asian chef, wait staff, management. This location has lowered the reputation that Benihana has spent years building. They also have an armed guard in the restaurant. Will NEVER go back.
Made reservations for Easter Sunday for the four of us. We did read the bad reviews for service for this location on several review sites, but my son's girlfriend from Finland wanted to eat at Benihana. Even with reservations they made us wait 30 minutes to be seated. When I asked why so long to be seated, host explained that they only had 5 cooks. Host tried to insist that we must only use the special Easter menus (limited menus); however, thankfully our table waiter allowed us to use the regular menu. Entire process took close to three hours (very slow). Took very long time for cook to come to table, and when he came, he explained that it was only his second week. Although he was a nice guy, I could have cooked the food myself better and faster. The only bright side on the entire experience was our table waiter. The waiter was friendly and kept a smile even though you could see all the chaos going on in the restaurant with so few workers. Also, there was a creepy security guard sitting on a chair inside the restaurant glued to his phone for the entire night (never seen that before at a Benihana). When we went to leave, used the restroom, and it was a disgusting mess. I will never return to this location.
We’ve dined at this location since 1978. Celebrated many birthdays and special occasions there and it was always a great time. Last time there was October 2014 and the same servers and chefs from 1978 still working there and providing a fun experience . So it was very disappointing to go Easter Sunday and see huge changes had taken place since our last visit. No artwork or ambience of any kind to suggest a Japanese themed experience. Security guard sitting in lobby was not particularly encouraging. No familiar faces greeting us. We waited an hour for a chef to come out and begin cooking. Soup was lukewarm. Salad was good. But then nothing for an hour while we waited for main courses. We were finally told that 3 chefs called off that night. We should have been told immediately and been able to make decision about staying or going somewhere else. Chef we got was obviously just newly trained. He tried hard and will probably do better as he gains experience. It was $90 for 2 and not money well spent. We will not return.
We were really disappointed!
Long wait w/reservations. Our order was not correct, we were shorted on the items we ordered. Our cook, seemed like he was not a cook....there was way too much butter used on everything. Cleaning the grill & splattering the grime on our plates. It was a very bad outing with a very high ticket price.
We waited 40 minutes after being seated before our drinks came and our chef did not come out for over an hour...and only after I went up front to complain that tables that were seated well after we were not only had their chef, but food was already being served.
Food portions were skimpy for the price of the meal.
Definitely won’t ever eat at Benihana again. FUJI HOUSE has my patronage from here on out.
Great food. Great atmosphere
The environment has declined at this restaurant
It was excellent! Thank you!
Food was good! Service could be better! Staff seemed to be overwhelmed!
I am an have been a faithful customer of Benihana's for many years, however my experience on this past Tuesday (3/27/2018) may change that. First off our reservation was at 7:30 (we were early), we seated about 8:20 and it took our server an hour to complete the orders for the 5 people (total) at the table. I ordered a cocktail that was watered down, when I asked another employee she brought a shot of something and poured it in my glass (that was awful). Our server would come and leave for 15 to 20 minutes each time. Finally she returned and someone brought me another drink and stated that it was made fresh because the other drink had been pre-mixed from earlier (not what I expect from a $10 drink). When the chef arrived at the table/grill (about 9:45) to prepare the meal the orders he read back to us were incorrect, he had to leave the grill exactly 4 times to get what he needed to prepare the meals. If the service was not bas enough the food was bland and tasteless. It was a true disappointment.
I understand that garlic butter is no longer used but at least season the meats. The meal came with ice cream however after ordering the favor we wanted we were told 15 minutes later that they only had vanilla. This was not what I expect when mu bill was $81.79 for just myself. This was a true disappointment at one of my favorite places to dine.
WOW. Food was excellent but everything else was poor. From forgotten drinks to forgotten appetizers, to non existent bussing of dirty plates, server constantly missing in action, twenty minutes to get our credit card back after paying, chef asked for help multiple times and no one came. Went to the bathroom to get napkins because there was no one to ask to get them. Terrible, DO NOT GO THERE.
Our server this time was down right awful. Keli was slow, unorganized and it was over 50 minutes while sitting before we had our soup. She seemed distracted and like she didn’t want to be there. Our chef was fantastic but our server was horrific. We were celebrating my son’s Birthday and she wrecked the experience for him. Thanks Keeli for wasting our money and not making it a one of a kind experience! Charlie we love you!
The service this visit was much better than past visits. Will definitely return!
I was highly unsatisfied with my trip to Benihana. The prompt of being seated was very poor. We had 515 reservations and they didn't sit us until 545.
Took way to long for the chef. They restaurant staff seemed short staffed and overwhelmed.
I was taken back at how bad the building looked. A window was missing and boarded up. Then the tables had the varnish peeling and the chairs were equally as bad. The restrooms were filthy and had bugs.
Another thing there was an off duty police officer stationed in the lobby. There was a sign at the door No Concealed Carry. So they banned concealed carry and brought in the police????
Have not made up mind if I will return there again. Especially not happy about the ban on concealed carry and how bad the building looked. With their prices you expect more.
I’ve visited Benihana for years and never had a problem until the mandatory reservations was instituted. My reservation was at 1:00pm, we were escorted to our table aroun 1:40 and didn’t get a chef at our table until 2:30pm. There were 5 people at the table, one being a child with seafood allergies which she notified our server of. Didn’t matter, that information was never given to our cook and none of our orders were given to the cook correctly. I was there celebrating my birthday but that was the worse experience I’ve had with Benihana. I will inform friends about my experience but will let them come to there own conclusions .
It was a treat but a bit pricey!
This was by far thee worst restaurant experience i have ever had!
The customer service was horrible and the manager was very rude and non accomadating.
I planned a dinner for my 7 year olds birthday. I made reservations weeks in advance as to get an early enough time since it would be a school night. When my party arrived ( all before set reservation time) our tables weren’t ready. The host at the time informed me that he was waiting for one of my tables to be cleared, and we’d be seated within the next five minute... that didn’t happen. We had reservations for 7:15 and weren’t seated for 45 min!! That in itself was horrible service. We then sat another 20 before receiving drinks or water. On top of theat more than two drinks were wrong. I had 7 children and 8 adults in my party... and we waited over and hour to eat... I spoke to a manger only to ask about wait time because of it being a school night, she was very rude and not empathetic at all. After we finally ate, everyone’s check was completely wrong and again the rude manager didn’t care... I paid over $100 for two adults and two children and I expect for the customer service to be outstanding, as I work in the service industry aswell. I have contacted corporate office to complain about the management at this location but still waiting to hear back... I would not recommend this location to anyone!
This a terrible experience for me. It's my favorite place to go for special occasions but may rethink after this visit. I mainly go for the chicken fried rice w/garlic butter but they are very stringy with it now. And I ordered 2 orders of fried rice but only got one and was told I couldn't have another because it was too late. The cook was overwhelmed and over worked due to the shortage of chefs, but he was still pleasant. The waitress hardly came around to check on our table. Took over an hr to even get soup or salad. Very disappointed :( may not go back again :(
If you have all the time in the world you may want to check go. We waited 2hours before we got to eat! After us waiting an hour and a half and telling us it would be 5 more minutes which was actually another 30 minutes we were told they only had three chefs. If they would have told us when we checked in we would not have stayed. We had other plans that we had to miss because of it being so late.
our waitress made this the most unpleasant experience that I ever had she never came back with our drinks from the bar.she wrote our order down wrong. My husband never got his Sushi . she brung us salads that we seen sitting for over 10 minutes on another table. IT WAS A DISASTER AND HORRIBLE .AND I NEVER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE LIKE THAT AT BENIHANA IN ALL MY LIFE.
Orlando was entertaining, exciting, and amazing! Thank you!
