Despite a reservation, we waited about 30 minutes for a table. When an employee realized we were not seated and were the only two people still waiting for a table we were seated. She curtly said, "I thought someone took you already." Ironically, we were seated with a family celebrating a birthday who arrived well AFTER we came in. I recommend the employees at reception take more special care to seat reservations promptly and pay attention to people waiting. Food was deli and servers were great.
It was my sons 12th birthday- he enjoyed it
Food, service and chef were all not good or what we are used too from benihana. Feel like the place is going down hill. Highly disappointed
Do not dine here. Seriously. 6:30 reservation with 6 kids for a birthday , 6:30 reservation and they didn’t start cooking until 8. Seriously understaffed. Took so long we had to go to bar for a drink. $50 later, not comped. Then dinner took so long one of the kids got sick and had to be driven home. Luckily, everything was so slow, my wife made it back for dinner after driving the poor kid back to Philly. Only eat here if you have literally 4 hours to blow. But, they have preprinted cards for a free appetizer next time- too bad there will never be a next time. Life is too short to spend another evening at this establishment. Sad thing- they know they are understaffed, but instead of reducing the number of dinners they serve, they just have everyone enjoy a miserable experience. Consider yourself warned. Look at my other reviews as I rarely if ever trash a place on a review.
I won't say much. Great tasting food, fun chef, and comfortable atmosphere. Happiness on a plate. Enough said.
The food was underwhelming and the shrimp was not cleaned. We were incredibly disappointed in the service and the quality of the food. The chef was full of personality, but obviously couldn't help what was being served.
I was really looking forward to this meal. We don't visit very often but when we do we always have a great experience. We were there this night to use my birthday coupon. This time was much different. The chef wasn't very good and I don't feel we got our monies worth. The food wasn't cooked very well and I don't think we got the correct portions. I ordered the filet and chicken breast combo and got FOUR pieces of chicken. And they were charred. You would have thought that they came off of a BBQ grill. We will be back soon since my husband just received his birthday coupon, but I will be sure to mention that we DO NOT want Daniel as a chef.
We had a reservation for 7 and arrived at 6:40. We were told we would be seated closer to our reservation time. We didn’t sit until almost 7:30. The food came quick, however. The lady at the front desk explained that there were not enough chefs working that night. Most people make reservation for this restaurant, so I would think that they’d staff accordingly.
My sis had never been here and she loved it! My daughter and I come somewhat often:)
Benihana of Cherry Hill has been a go-to spot for some of our family celebrations, but unfortunately this will no longer be so. First, we waited over a half-an-hour past our reservation in a crowded lobby with no available seats. Once seated, the beverage and appetizer server was slow and forgetful. The ladies room was a mess, and at least one stall was out of toilet paper. The hibachi chef was mediocre at best, and actually recommended ANOTHER nearby Japanese restaurant. The restaurant apparently ran out of WHITE RICE, so that some of our party did not get any rice until after they had finished their meal. They were not even offered different rice. Finally, the floor/carpet was so dirty that our feet stuck as we walked--we confirmed that we all felt that. This is completely unacceptable.
Great food and drinks. My only complaint is the bathroom. It needs major overhaul.
Food was great as always. Chef made experience very friendly.
Service was extremely to slow , when there’s large groups you should have enough staff
Great food as usual! We have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The fried rice is better here than anywhere else! Menu offerings are much more extensive than other Japanese restaurants. The atmosphere tops all the others as well. The design has a more private feel instead of the "one-room" feel of other places. This is a great place to go for any size party!
Happyy Niece had a 30.00 birthday coupon because for the amount of food for not worth it. Also, we both were celebrating out birthday and no singing or anything. I won't be going back. Food was tasty just not enough.
Food was good. Took twenty minutes after our reservation to get sat, and it took another hour to even get a cook which was disappointing.
I had a 7pm reservation. I arrived at 6:50pm only to have to wait for almost 20mins to be seated, and never be told sorry about the wait or given any acknowledgement of the time we had been waiting, then it took another 10 mins before the waitress came out, then other 10mins before the chef came only to have the waitress forget to serve our salads before the chef came out and started cooking. The chef himself was not personable and friendly as the others chefs I’ve had at the Plymouth Meeting location. On top of that he didn’t let the vegetables cook through enough and some of the rice was hard. This was my first and last time at the Cherry Hill location.
I have visited Benihana a many of times before, the server was very friendly but not fast with tge tables request. It wasn’t crowded either, so things should have come out a little quicker. The chef was not friendly at all and messed up the young ladies take out order whom sat adjacent to us; after he asked her serveral times wether she wanted mushrooms. In all the years I have visited the restaurant the chef was always interactive with the guest. Maybe things have changed.
The waitress took 30-40 minutes to bring our check and had a very rude tone. Other than that the food was about a 8/10. The rice was really chunky and stuck together.
Only criticism would be the alcoholic drinks each time I've gone are pretty watery even without ice.
We decided to come here to celebrate my daughters 5th Birthday! The kids loved it! All the tricks and use of the grill was awesome!!
Worst service ever! Manager Lucas was neither surprised or concerned with any of the numerous complaints he received from all of the tables around us. Actually brought out 3 different drinks all appeared to have skin like particles floating in them. Chef apologized more than the manager and even seemed embarrassed over the dirty drinks and lazy staff members. Avoid this location like the plague!
I made a reservation here for 5:00 to celebrate my birthday with friends. We were seated after about 20 minutes and we waited another 30 minutes at least before the chef came to our table. The server was extremely inattentive. Luckily the food was delicious and that is why I’m not giving one star for this restaurant.
It was my first time there and it was an amazing experience!
Love it can’t wait to come back everything was good
It was our first visit. Great food and chef very entertaining. Can't wait to go back!
It was great
It was a great time
I always have a great time here. Andrew is the best chef. He never disappoints on food, service and experience. Our server David was not so good. He forgot our brown rice request even after we reminded him 3 times. When our food was ready he said they ran out and it would be 15 minutes for more. After an hour of cooking I know that was a lie and he never put our order in. His drink/appetizer service was just as bad. Luckily we were able to enjoy ourselves in spite of his ineptitude. We will certainly return to this restaurant again and again.
It was great. New server needs more practice.
I have never had a bad experience here the service is awesome and show by the chefs is always great to watch. The food is amazing we dine here often!
The food was very flavorful and our chef was entertaining.
We quite often visit Benihana, once or twice a month. They were not overly busy this evening and the service was terrible. We had to go to the receptionist to let them know that we have been sitting at the table for 25 minutes and not one person came to the table to offer water or to even see if we have been greeted by a waiter/waitress.
Dinner usually takes about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours from beginning to end and we were there for just about 3 hours.
Waiter was not attentive to our table whatsoever! The manager didn't seem to care very much after it was brought to his attention.
One of the worst nights we have ever experienced there. Now it will not deter me to eating there again but if we shall ever come across the waiter again, I WILL ask for a different table.
The food was excellent and so was the service! Mike took good care of us and was very responsive and attentive. We went to celebrate a birthday and had a great time. Although the wait was longer than expected despite all the empty tables, we had a fantastic experience. Would definitely recommend to others.
I made reservations and got there five minutes early and still waited twenty minutes before I was seated, the portions are getting smaller and the price is going up, three people order chicken two pieces were on the grill and they cut one in half I felt like they are giving kids portions to adults. When you come in to the hostess stand the young girl who works there is more worried about who is going to pick her up then helping the guest in a timely and professional way. Everybody needs a job but if you are going to have a bunch of young people run it teach them customer service. On a positive note the food is still good and the cooks at the table always are pleasant and prepare the food well.
Had reservations . Had to wait 30min after because they didn’t have enough chefs. Then when ordering told them I was allergic to shellfish and she said they would cook it in the back . Could have went to a regular restaurant . Other types of these restaurants cook the shellfish last .
Waiter and cook wasn't a team. Cook had to keep going to the back to get things the waiter was suppose to get. Cook was nice but half the experience is the show and the interaction between cook and customers. It wasn't any. I use to hold Benihana and a higher scale then Hibachi on Del ave butvwhen I went to hibachi the next day for a B-Day lunch. The cook all the cook did just about every trick and interacted with us the whole time.
