Benihana - Chandler Ratings and Reviews
The food and the chef were great. The service that we got from our server was terrible, he showed up to the table super late. When he finally showed up he took drink orders and our appetizer, 7-10mins passed and he showed up with drinks when I asked how much longer for our appetizer he said he had forgotten to ring it up so we got it once the chef was cooking the shrimp appetizer. When the chef was reading the orders I was missing my plate again so the chef had to call the server and ask for it . Server also messed up and didn’t bring enough for the shrimp appetizer or chicken. Just a terrible experience with the server. We go to this Benihana multiple times it’s our favorite place for special occasions but after this day not sure if we’ll be back to this location.
Poor reception upon arriving - took hostesses 10 minutes to acknowledge us while we stood in front of them while they talked among themselves
Dirty unkept environment including dining area in spite of the fact we were relatively early in the night with a 7 o’clock reservation
No tonic for mixed drinks- how is that possible for a proper bar?
Repeated delays in orders, service, etc
Won’t be back
Was a good place but due to us being 15 minutes late they canceled our reservation and made us wait over 2 hours the host wasnt very friendly but everyone other then her was awesome i would definitely recommend coming here to anyone just needs better guest service up front
You made a customer for life. This occasion was to celebrate my son's 12th birthday. He was very impressed with the meal and how it was being prepared right their in front of him. He really enjoyed the show. He ate more than usual and said the shrimp was better than what you buy at the store. I'm sure that he will return when he grows up. Excellent.
Celebrating belatedly my granddaughter's birthday with her mom and a friend. It's a very fun place to eat. The food is excellent. It's most fun is when you have a group big enough to have the chef all to yourself but it's works well with smaller groups too.
It was our first time there. We were not sure what to expect. Was taken back for just a second that we were seated with three other couples at the same table, but quickly made aware of the surroundings and what was about to unfold on the grill in front of us. The chef was fun and very talented. He brought humor into the cooking and made it a very fun and enjoyable experience. The food was amazing!!!! It was pricey but very well worth it. Highly recommend for special occasions. Oh and the sushi...was top notch!!
As always, Benihana Chandler delivers great service, great food, great fun and an engaging table chef. The exceptional management is obvious. The restaurant is clean, the staff attentive. Manager Carl visited our table and we were able to express our thanks and delight with our experience. When in the East Valley Phoenix/Chandler area, this is the restaurant to visit! Kudos to Carl and his team!
I had to change my reservations a few times due illnesses. Well, the last change did not go through. The girls at the front were quite rude about it. The one girl smirked and said "Oh no it's for Thursday not Tuesday." She was just going to leave it at that. As if it's reservations only. This was for my birthday dinner. The gentleman at the front said it was no problem and she said it would be about 10-20mins, she didn't look happy about accommodating us. Well over 30mins later and we still weren't seated. My father-in-law spoke to the gentleman and we were seated 3mins later. Your hostesses need to be trained on how to handle themselves. Smirking and being rude to paying peopleis not acceptable. We go in every year and spend quite a bit of money. Everyone else was great, service was a bit slow but that happens sometimes.
Disappointing! The table was uncomfortable when they crammed in 9 people. The last time I was here they did the same thing- not good. The lady next to us had a cold and coughing and sniffling. The food was overcooked which is especially terrible to do for seafood shrimp and scallops :(
I LOVE this food but I am disappointed that the salad dressing has changed. I have eaten at this place most my life and have loved the dressing enough to buy it to take home but the last two times I’ve been, the dressing has been disappointing. With that being said, the rest of the food was fabulous! I will come again!
We didn't enjoy this experience as we have in the past. The 2 couples at our table were extremely loud. They paid no attention to the chef and had no regard as to the others around them. My husband and I felt that affected the chef's mood. Somehow he didn't seem as enthused in cooking, and our fried rice was not cooked well and had hard kernels.
Secondly, our server did not pick up the soup and salad bowls; he forgot my husbands tea and didn't check to see if anyone needed refills. We thought he had left. One lady at the table had to ask the manager to find the server in order to get a refill. We paid in cash and the server came back to the table after we gave him the bill and the money to ask us how much we had given him. That's pretty bad in my opinion.
Normally we come away feeling like we had a great time but this wasn't one of them. The food tasted good except for the rice. I know you have no control over the people at seated at the table, but at least the cooks and servers should be more attentive.
For the money, the portions are very small..please eliminate the salad..it is very unappealing...tasteless and the salad dressing is not very good...the sushi was good...but entree was small for $40...we could have had a bigger meal at cheesecake factory or capital grille for the same amount
Had a 7PM reservation and got there at 6:50PM they said they were running 20 min late. We checked back in at 7:20 and were told it would be 10 min. 8PM came and we checked in again and were told our table was next. We got seated 1 hour and 10 minutes after our reservation (why have one). We then got a New Chef Max who is nice but clearly not ready to cook in front of people. His Show was messy, portions were way off had to have kitchen fix more Fried Rice, ran out of Chicken and it was a mess. Of course you get you bill and its Full Price but service was way below. They must improve on this.
Worst experience ever. Hostess would not acknowledge my reservation that I made through open table. She said it didn’t exist so I showed her my email. Then her story changed to I cancelled the reservation at 1 that afternoon. This is impossible considering I only made the reservation at 430 to begin with. She was an ignorant rude hostess and at one point said I was not in her computer and to look for myself as she proceeded to walk away and ignore me. Manager didn’t even correct her behavior as she was rude to everyone that walked in from the time we arrived to the time we were done with our meal (3 hours later).
My 12 year old son and I came here for birthday dinner. They were running behind so they gave us a free appetizer coupon and he ordered sushi. After that they sent Kevin over who is funny, fast and a great cook. Kevin whipped our dinner up with jokes and made everything so nice. Our waitress Shizuka was kind and made sure every need was met. Love this place!
I made a reservation for 7 at 7:15 pm. We checked in and we were not seated until 45 minutes after 7:15 pm. The hostess had no seating control so, our wait was longer than expected. They were irritated, overwhelmed and, unfriendly. They also gave me the wrong information on the Birthday coupon in which I could not apply towards the final bill so therefore, the Manager was called to visit our table. Unfortunately, the Manager was unable to fix the coupon issue and could not offer another resolution. On the other hand our table's server was polite and professional. When it came to getting out picture taken, it was not offered, we had to ask. Our picture's quality was crappy and we had to wait another 45 minutes for the picture to printed.
We visited the restaurant to celebrate 2 very special birthdays and it was unpleasant.
The Benihana experiences are all the same and that’s not a bad thing!! The food is good. The filet at this particular restaurant on this particular night was actually exquisite!!! The rest was good. The real complaint about the chandler location is the wait time. I have now been there twice and both times was a long wait with reservations!!! Pet peeve.....if I have a reservation I don’t want to wait 20-30 mins to be seated.
