Benihana is usually a good time, but our most recent visit fell short. After being seating almost 30 minutes after our reservation time, we waited another 45 minutes for the chef. The food was great, but our waiter seemed to be struggling. He forgot several things on the chef’s cart (which annoyed the chef), failed to bring the complimentary dessert (ice cream) to everyone at our table, and seemed frantic and rushed the entire meal. When it came time to check out, he returned our booklet without returning the credit card used for payment. We got up to look for the waiter and found the credit card on the ground, under another table across the restaurant. Overall, our Sunday night out turned into a frustrating, three-hour endeavor. Disappointing visit at this location.
Nicholas is the best cook ever!!!
Our family went with a large group of 9 people to celebrate 2 of our children’s birthdays. We had reservations but still ended up waiting almost an hour to be seated. It then took over an hour for the chef to come out and begin cooking the food on the grill. The food was just ok, the meat was over cooked, and the cooking experience lacked a lot of the flair it used to have. They no longer have diners catch shrimp and the fire on the grill is limited. Our chef clearly was not into the performance. Overall it was a disappointing show. To top it off we had registered our kids in the Birthday club and had two certificates for birthday dinners. The barcode on the certificate had not printed and the manager refused to honor them. We had 7 adults who had all purchased full dinners, drinks and appetizers which amounted to several hundred dollars, and they would not take off the two children’s dinners because of a barcode! By this point we were all frustrated and exhausted after being at the restaurant for hours. We left very unhappy and the manager did not seem to care at all. We used to love going to Benihana’s but I doubt we will ever be returning.
Dinner here was outstanding ! My first time coming here and definitely a good expierence. Chef was excellent and couldn’t ask for better she was awesome. She was energetic and made it a good experience. Definitely will return.
We were there to celebrate a birthday. We had an awesome meal and a great time.
Overall food was ok, but chicken was a little dry. The price for what you get is high. It feels like you are paying more for the cooking performance than the food itself. Servers were friendly and overall service was good.
Good better this time around here 👍🏻👍🏻
This was my first time coming to Behihana's. We were celebrating a birthday. We had a really good time and our host was excellent. The food was great! I was quite surprised to see how much our dinners were. Again we were celebrating a birthday and there were 7 of us.
Great food and great place for celebrating special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries. We've celebrated our kid's and family birthdays at Benihana for many years. Thank you for the wonderful times!
Classy place for a special occasion. Bit pricey but you get what you pay for.
Brought family here for my daughter's birthday. We enjoyed our Chef and his cooking. The food was excellent. There was a point where no one checked on us to refill drinks. But all in all we were very pleased with the experience. My daughter had a wonderful birthday and bottom line, the food was fabulous and that's what really matters.
Benihana is always a great place to go food is always very good and consistent. The chefs always put their own spin on the food preparation and it is a great show.
The service has increasingly gone down. The seafood is cooked until it is rubber! Lack of skill and when you request the food be served they leave it on still.. over cooked. Onion looked frozen I ask the question the cook told me they where a little see through/clear. I will not return despite additional discounts provided due to poor services.
We were seated a half hour after our reservation time. Our chef was new and very slow so the meal took a very long time and had no flow to it. The food was as expected.
Great meal food and service were spectacular
Easter dinner. Sat my family of 5 w/2 couples at a smaller table 30mins+ after our RSVP time (and we checked in early). We had to wait longer for a proper table. This was our 1st bad experience as we make annual visits to this Benihana.
Our chef was fresh from a 4-week training for new hires (according to her) and simply was not ready for the job. We made reservations for an early seating on Easter Sunday and had high hopes for a great family experience. We were very disappointed. The chef was only able to do one thing at a time and our food service was spread out over close to an hour. The food was drenched in butter with lemon (every item got the exact same treatment - one at a time) No knife skills and so everything was in extra large chunks. She was a nice kid but no way was she ready for service. I've been to this Benihana several times and unfortunately the experience seems to diminish with each visit.
There was also a family of 3 seated with our family of 5 and they were a nightmare. One of their party insisted on using the F-word as he spoke and I was not amused as I was with my two daughters -ages 6 and 10. I had to tell him to watch his language and he seemed to understand that I was serious.
We spoke with the manager on duty prior to leaving and while he was somewhat sympathetic to our situation he offered only to give us a better experience on our next visit. I'm not sure if he'll get a chance to make it up.
Wonderful food and entertaining chef. We had a great time and the kids loved every minute.
It took us 2 hours to get our food because they were understaffed.
Best time we've ever had! Chateaubriand was incredible. Demetri cooked it perfectly and the manager, Ryan, was hilarious and so entertaining!
We had another great time celebrating my daughter's birthday. Benihana has been our usual place for celebrating birthdays. Our waiter and chef were personable, made us all feel welcome and valued. We will definitely continue coming there.
Celebrating family member B-day. the presentation was very good and food was pricey for what you get;however, the ambience and overall made it worth it for special occasion.
We waited for quite awhile for the chef to arrive. He was not very interactive with any of us. We have been to Benihana’s many times in the past and have always enjoyed the antics of the chef. The name of our chef was Juan and certainly we did not get the “feel” of authenticity. I would hope for a better experience if we decide to return. Cathy
We sat at our table for over 1 hour before they started cooking at our table. They did take $30.00 off of our bill.
Had a great time. Manager was great
Celebrating hubbys birthday and double date night with our neighbors it was amazing great food
The food cooking show is awesome!!! I loved it
The chef was fantastic. We will definitely be back.
It was my husband and I first time and we will go back!
They always do a great job. The server tonight was a little slow but sometimes that happens. I will say it was nice to see a manager work as hard as Ryan did tonight! He was all over the place and his presence was noticed by several people. You don’t see that very often anymore by managers. He is a fantastic manager and they’re lucky to have him! Thank you, Nick
Had a reservation for 5:30pm, were seated promptly but then it was almost an hour until the chef arrived at our table and starting cooking our meals. The waiter did his part getting our orders, bringing out our drinks, soup, and salad...but then there was a LONG wait. Not sure if this is normal or not but personally was not pleased. Once chef arrived he was engaging and personable...food was great. Overall rating was 'Good' because of the longer than acceptable wait.
Our reservation was for 7pm. We were seated 735pm. The waitress who took our order lost the "ticket" to give to the chef so that was another 20 minute process. The Chef I would think would do process of elimination and get the fried rice started but only after lots of convincing did he do that (7 out of 8) ordered fried rice. Chef had good spirits knowing he was probably annoyed lol. Would have been nice to comp a drink or fried rice or something as we didn't get done eating until 10pm because of the late/lost reservation.
Food was delicious. Service was great.
We had a bad experience a year ago with the food but thought we would try it one more time this year. The food was excellent as the service also. We will come back again more often as things seem to have worked themselves out. I would recommend this establishment to anyone.
Always go to this Benihana in Chandler only thing is always the men's bathroom is disgusting smelly and dirty.
Our Hibachi cook was not impressive at all, we took our 4 year old nephew thinking he would love it, but we were disappointed. Normally they try to get the children involved and it is very entertaining. This was on a level of 1-10 a very low 1.
The food was okay but not worth the money.
This was my third visit. I brought my two sisters for their birthday. They were upset that I had not brought them before. We have made a point to eat here three times a year for now on. They really enjoyed it.
We went on a Thursday night with 7:30pm reservations. We arrived about ten minutes early but weren't seated until 7:45pm. Then we waited and waited and waited. Our table of 6 was served the included soups (luke warm) and salads. Unfortunately, the table side chefs were all busy and we waited some more! They offered us complimentary California rolls and we accepted as we were very hungry by this late time. Finally the chef arrived and began cooking. He rushed through and our fried rice was dry and hard (overcooked). The fried rice is usually DELICIOUS and our favorite part of the meal, NOT this time. Then we ate and waited again for plate removal and dessert. We waited again for the check! We didn't leave until past 10:30pm. This entire dinner was disappointing and not what we usually experience at Benihana. Seemed like they were seriously under-staffed and poorly managed. We look forward to this (especially the fried rice) for special occasions but this time was a giant letdown!
We were seated at 7pm and didn’t get a chef to the table until 8:30pm. The Chef than proceeded to complain about anything and everything about the business and was slow and over cooked everything, forgot half the requests and the waiter dropped the ice cream tray with four bowls on it. The bathrooms were disgustingly filthy and it was an overall mess.
It is always an amazing experience only feed back I have is they shouldn't have put a hostess in the don't by herself on her first day because she had a really hard time with everything.
Did not honor reservation and tried to blame open table for it! Unbeknown to the manager that I had called the restaurant a few days prior and confirmed such reservation. Manager tried to lie about several things to save himself! They seated groups who didn't have reservations and who arrived after us prior to us in their nicer dining room (one they wouldn't accept to seat us in saying it's closed)! We knew that they didn't have a reservation through casual conversation we had with that group. The manager tried to lie about that and said they did...we knew otherwise. Then they tried to seat us in a booth by the restrooms...no one could squeeze between the table and bench seat. Tables were open in the other dining room but wouldn't seat us there still. They waited until a table opened up (still in view of the restrooms) to seat us. We had 2 older dining guests with us and felt discriminated.
Our reservation was for 1:45 pm, we arrived at 1:35 pm but we didn't get seated until 3:00 pm!
The soup was cold and the edemame was over done. The hibachi food was good. The chef (Nick) was the best thing going for that restaurant that day. He was outgoing, conversant and overall very pleasant.
This was a birthday celebration for our mother who is in her 80s. Very disappointing!
