Benihana - Chandler Ratings and Reviews
I thought lots of things were great. But my shrimp was way overcooked and once our food was boxed up it took 45 mins to get the checks and leave!! It was so weird and annoying because our server disappeared and then a manager asked if we needed help, then left and never came backz, and then another manager offered to help and finally came back way later. Also, after all of that, when we got the check with our card back, it didn't have a new receipt to show it was charged and to sign and leave a tip?? And no one was around to ask about it. After the 45 mins of trying to leave... We decided to just go. It was fun, but the overcooked food and poor service made it disappointing.
Chef talked too much on a personal level, told us to tip the wait staff, noise level not very condusive for dining, accoustics were non-existant, felt like we were being suffocated after the air vents were turned off, could not wait to leave, won't be back. It had been 4 decades prior to our recent dining experience and now I know why it had been 40 years.
It was our 15yr anniversary the cook was young and very inexperienced it took forever to get our food and my chicken was not cooked all the way. Was very upset we also went last year for our anniversary and they where understaffed don’t think we will go back next year big disappointment!!!
We made reservations to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and were ignored when we tried to check in. After what felt like forever, I finally said excuse me, is this where we check in, and was told yes, hold on a minute. He finally took my name, and I assumed checked me in although he didn't confirm. The next group was greeted, asked if they were celebrating something special, and told they would be seated shortly. I immediately felt that we were not wanted in their restaurant, but love their food so we stayed and decided to make the best if it. The waitress was terrible, spilling drinks on the grill, spilled our soup, and didn't come back to check on our drinks. The chef was good, just graduated high school, but he did a good job. I love to go to Benihana for special occasions, it's a treat, and very expensive. This location, based on my last experience, has gone down hill. We won't be back.
The food has been great, but we would like to make a reservation that includes the chef. We come in frequently and have gotten the chance to have many chefs. Felt like Taylor was by far the best and would like to at least try to include him with our experience as much as possible. Thanks!
I have been a customer for nearly 40 years, Chandler, AZ is fa f superior to Scottsdale, AZ. While the chef put on an entertaining presentation his food just did not make the grade. The salad dressing, which is my wife's favorite was horrible. The chicken fried rice was off, it was mushy. the filet was also off. Our waitress was outstanding. Again the performance cooking the tables food was incredible, but the taste of the food was a disappointment.
We had a fantastic time as a party of 8 for my daughter’s 11th birthday. Our waitress and chef were amazing. We had two toddlers with us and everyone went out of their way to not only entertain everyone (little ones included!) but also make my 11 year old birthday girl feel super special. My only complaint is their birthday ‘perks’. I use parenthesis when saying ‘perks’ because in the 10+ years we’ve been going to Benihana we feel their birthday perks have gone from a great value for appreciated customers to inconvenient and unusable (for us anyway). We used to always use our birthday certificates for lunch because that’s the only time my husband and I could make it in, however several years ago they stopped allowing them to be used for lunch. Dinner is much more expensive and not always an option but my husband’s birthday is the same month as My daughter’s and we brought his birthday certificate with us thinking that we could save $30 when buying dinner for 8. Unfortunately we were told they only accept them Monday through Thursday’s. Well, we have 4 kids and activities up the wazoo and getting there on a weeknight is not typically a realistic option for us. The food was amazing, and as I said, the wait staff was also amazing but I feel like they dangle that $30 birthday ‘gift’, which is, admittedly, incredibly generous, but then they make it so difficult to use with the restrictions. I’d honestly rather get only $10 or $15 I could use anytime!
Food was good. Service we really bad. Had a reservation and waited 20 minutes for tabla a we were early for reservation. Waited another 30 minutes for someone to come to our table. Hubby is as almost done with dinner before his white rice appeared. Food was good but the size of portion were small. But price stays the same. Will need to look for a new habachi to go to.
We go often here. This time we had Chef Taylor, he was pretty great. I usually get the Land and Sea, Filet Mingion with Scallops. 1st Chef to cook my scallops to perfection! I would definitely recommend him to be your chef.
One thing I hope to stress is the lady in charge of scheduling puts too much on the servers. Our server, NOT Chef was all over the place. She didn't have a break and had a lot of tables to serve. Not the servers fault more like the Female Manager that wears glasses. Sometimes you reserve a time, show up on time, and don't get sat for almost an hour. Which is ridiculous since you reserve a time.
Great drinks are Toyko Mule, Kappa Collins. Rainbow sushi is delish!
Showed up 15 minutes early for a reservation and wasnt seated until 45 minutes after my reservation. The supervisor at the front of the house apparently never checked me in when i arrived and spoke with her. She was rude to the employees in front of guests. Once i was seated, the experience was what it always is. .excellent! The chefs are always spot on and the food seals the deal.
We always come here for every special occasion because we always have so much fun! This last visit they were behind in the kitchen so they did everything they could to keep us happy while we waited. That included a free appetizer and the manager coming and talking with us. Our chef was hilarious and had all the adults and children at the table laughing! We will for sure be back in November for my birthday!
