Benihana - Carlsbad Ratings and Reviews
Our chef provided the best entertainment out of all the times we’ve been to Benihana. We hadn’t seen many of the “tricks” he did and even my 10 month old couldn’t take his eyes off him! Very friendly. Very skilled. And the food was absolutely perfect. This was the first time I ate my zucchini! (I hate zucchini) my family and I really enjoyed having Ray as our chef!
We have been celebrating birthdays at Benihana for over ten years. My kids, who are now young adults still love the food and of course our favorite Chef David Fi! He is incredibly funny and entertaining for all ages. I grew up going to the Benihana in Beverly Hills and it's great that we have one here in beautiful Carlsbad. The food is delicious and the chefs make it look so easy to cook, although I can never do it at home. Their signature fried rice is a must and none of us have ever been disappointed with the quality and taste of our various entrees. For a festive and fun dining experience, I highly recommend Benihana for any occasion. They will commemorate your special celebration with a group photo for you to take home. We look back and see our kids growing up each year with their Benihana birthday photo. I look forward to sharing the Benihana birthday experience for many years to come.
I wish the check-in staff gave more communication on when and how me and my date would be seated. We made reservations at 7pm but did not get seated until 7:30pm.
I did not know that because my reservation was a party of two, we had to wait until a other couples arrived to fill a whole table/station. Definitely would have liked to be informed about that.
Our server and and chef were exceptional.
Terrible slow service. This location has the worst service and this will be my last time going here. I had a reservation at 8:15 and was seated at 9:35. Can you imagine? The San Diego location is better and I should have known better as this one has been bad before.
We check in with hostess 10 min before our reservation and unfortunately they sit us 40 minutes after our reservation time because they didn’t register our check in , so we where not on the list waiting for a table until we asked why it took so long for a table when there was people getting there and being seated
We have been to this Benihana several times before and, as usual, we had a great time, but this time the shrimp tasted a little “fishy”. I’ve ordered shrimp in the past and have never experienced this before.
Also, when the chef cleaned the grill, there was a strong “chemical” smell that I had never experienced either. It made me cough a bit and made my eyes water. Not sure if it was just an “off” night or if there have been some changes since our last visit.
Still had a fun time celebrating my niece’s birthday! Service was great!
Didn't take too long to get seated as Tuesday night wasn't that crowded. It took 45 mins after our reservation time to get a chef to cook the food at our table. The chef 'Trevor' was very good and funny. Food was cooked properly and he was accommodating to the special requests from guests at our table. We hoped to get started earlier than we did as an early dinner ended after 9:00pm. I would not recommend this location if you were hoping to get out under 2 hours.
We arrived for our 5:45 reservation on Saturday night. When we checked in we were told it would be a short wait. I asked what that meant and was told 25 minutes! It ended up being 45 minutes!
There were 7 open tables in the restaurant. I asked the chef what was going on and he said that they were short on cooks and that he had been working 60+ hour weeks.
The food was okay, and we ended up being there for over 3 hours including wait time. I think we'll be going to the other restaurant in Mission Valley from now on.
We don’t go out to dinner very often but we wanted to treat ourself, my daughter chose Benihana
I really felt cheated our server was very new his hands were shaking and we didn’t really get the show we had hoped for.
He was very sweet but not at all ready to put on a show.
I felt we could have used that $160 elsewhere .
