Scallops were gritty
I'm not sure if Benihana in general has gone downhill or maybe just this location. I have always enjoyed my experiences at this restaurant before but left this last time feeling underwhelmed. First, the service was great. No issues there. Our Chef was funny and friendly. He was great, although my steak was over cooked, but really it wasn't that big of a deal. Here are the things I had an issue with: 1. The smell. Maybe they were having problems in the kitchen or something but there was an overwhelming mildew-y smell coming from the doorway. 2. My drink. I ordered a specialty cocktail and it was soooo watered down I almost doubt there was alcohol in it at all. 3. I got splashed by sauce from the chef behind us. It was in my hair and all over my shirt. At first I thought a vent was leaking but then I smelled it and realized what had happened. Probably a byproduct of squeezing tables in close and people rushing around.
All in all, not enough to complain to anyone about but enough that I probably won't be back to this location.
Our cook Nick was excellent! More of a show than dinner. My wife thoroughly eenjoyed her birthday
It was a great fun night. The food was great. And our server was fantastic.
It had been a few years, about 5 or 6 since we had dinner here. And once it came time for our reservation I remembered why. Our reservation was for 7:45 pm and we did not get seated down until 8:15 pm. It took another 15 min until somebody came and took a drink order. The restaurant was under staffed. The service after that was ok. The hibachi cook was entertaining and very good with the food. The food was good but not recommended to take your new date there. They use a lot of garlic butter so you will smell like coming out of there and the taste of garlic will be with you long after you brush and rinse and rinse and rinse. I would say if you are not hungry, in a hurry and with your family, it is a good show for preteens and above.
It is not what it use to be! It is almost like a Hometown Buffet atmosphere. The food is soso and overpriced. The service was poor. I don't remember the lighting being so bright - like a hospital!
It use to be my favorite place to go with the kids.......
The waitress was fantastic, but the chef was slow slow and then slower, took forever to cook our food. Food wasn’t seasoned well, and he seemed confused about how to cook it.
Not really any show, the tricks he did try he messed up. Couldn’t even do Volcano. Would eat here again since I love Benihana, but only if I was quarantied a different chef.
The food is fresh and perfectly prepared. The meat melts in your mouth, the seafood is sweet and succulent. The fried rice was great and so were the fresh veggies. Maybe make the shrimp portions a little bigger for kids meals? The chef is fun and friendly. But , it’s expensive and can be so noisy you can miss some of the jokes! Overall, our whole family had a great time and were satisfied.
We went for my daughter’s 10th birthday and also had two loud young ones. The overall noise level made this ok. Otherwise I’m sure we would have disturbed a lot of people. They sang to my daughter and she received ice cream with a candle which was very nice. The food was great and we would definitely go again. My only complaint would be that the kids meals do not have free refills on drinks and the veggies that come with the meals are mainly onions. I liked the onions but it would have been nice to have a little more zucchini or a 3rd veggie for the price.
