Celebrating a Birthday. Which I have done many times here. Our chef David was very entertaining and humorous! We all had a great evening!!!
The chef was horrible. He talked so fast we couldn’t even understand him. For $300 I expected more....
Was here for my 22nd birthday with a good friend and my parents, was very excited to experience Benihana for the first time ever and I wasn't disappointed. Would definitely come back again preferably soon.
It was a very unpleasant experience. We had a 4:30 reservations and didn’t get seated until 5:15. The chef didn’t come out until 6:30 we weren’t out of there until 7:30. It was ridiculous. Quality of food is definitely run down. Service was terrible. I talked to the manager about our chef not coming out yet and we’re tired of waiting she didn’t bother making any gestures to keep the customer happy. Even though this was one of my favorite places to eat; I will never go there again after this experience.
We waited over an hour at the table for the chef to come to make our food. The smoke from the grill blew in our faces and eyes the whole time.
It was a birthday celebration and they put us in a room with absolutely NO AMBIANCE AND NO LIGHT OR VIEW. I came there for a view or at least light and bright. I guess I liked the chef and not the valet parking. Self parking would have been faster.
Benihana's is one of mine and my husband's favorite restaurant until the other night. Our reservations were at 7pm. We didn't get seated until around 8:15pm, we waited until almost 9pm to have the chef come out and start cooking. My husband's steak and another customer's order was way undercooked, they had to wait again to have it cooked to their liking. Two other customers left because they couldn't wait any longer. I don't know if the chef was in a bad mood that day, but his performance was not up to standard, I mean $42 a plate for this kind of service is a little steep. We were disappointed.
Had reservations at 7. I checked in and they said 15 min. 7:30 and still no table. I went up front and they said I didn’t have a reservation, even though I had their pager. I finally got a table at 7:40. The waiter finally came at 8:00 and took orders. The chef never showed up, so we left at 8:40 without eating. I went to the floor manager and explained the situation. She rolled her eyes and said ‘sorry’ and walked away without resolving the problem. I’ve been a patron of Benihana’s for 30 yrs. I will Never go back!!
It was a really good experience, first time there and it was excellent food
Was great. Food was fantastic as always. Will be coming back for years to come! A+
Had reservations at 7:00 PM. We waited around 45 minutes to be seated and then another 45 minutes until our hibachi chef showed up at the table. Noticed on the bill that we were charged for extra sides that we did not order. Food was good.
They were so far behind that we spend more than 3 hours there. Our waiter kept saying the chef is coming and after the 3rd time he disappeared and did not see him for more than 30 minutes. When the chef finally came, he cooked so fast that I don’t think he cooked my food all the way through because I got sick the next day and had to go to the ER. The table next to us arrived about 2 hours after us and pretty much finished about the same time. Our waiter had no sense of time that I had to bring my daughter to the bathroom only to find that they already brought my ice cream with a candle (it was my birthday). He told my husband that he’ll be back to help us take a picture and of course totally forgot. We usually go to the Benihana in Japantown but decided to go to the Burlingame one because it was closer to our house. I can say I will never go to that Benihana again. I really didn’t think our waiter deserved the 18% gratuity but it was automatically added to our bill because we had a party of 8. Too bad we couldn’t give separate gratuity to the chef as I am aware they share it.
They were understaffed and we waited 1.5 hours before the food was prepared .The table next to us got appetizers for their wait . We only received them after we complained and they came after our meal ! Defeats the purpose of appetizers. We were already full , would have been nice to have them during our 1.5 hour wait .
Long wait for table and chef. Took over an hour before chef was at table to cook.
Food is excellent, (a little pricey) would highly recommend for the show. Its a bit noisey
for my liking and have been there on several occasions. Definitely make a reservation in advance. Even after making reservation, there was about 1/2 hour wait???
Bad experience due to misunderstanding from costumer to waitress and / or cheff , he starter completely ignoring the costumer and the costumer was also upset , there was such the discomfort instead, it was my boyfriends first time and we both were very unsatisfy with the service and treatment.
I went for Valentine’s Day even though it was really packed chef and server had the best customer service, everything was great until someone from our table dicided to dine and dash, felt bad for the server since she was nothing but on her feet to please everyone.
Ordered the Benihana trip and got the wrong Meat !!! I got the thin sliced meat instead if my filet migon didnt say anything becuase i felt bad that the chef already had cleaned the grill but to top it off we had a reservation for 9 ! And poor service no refills theyre were suppose to be atleast 2 servers for a big part and we had half of a server he didnt come back untill our food was almost gone pooor service ! But the food was great untill my meat got mistaken for a thin sliced piece of meat and i payed 41$ for it. Poor service
Muy bonito todo
I had a lunch reservation to celebrate Valentine's with my wife and yesterday was the first time I have gotten up after being seated and walked out of a restaurant. I don't mind special menus or getting slightly gouged occasionally, but Benihana's took this to a new level. They had a holiday menu with the most expensive seven course dinner items from the regular dinner menu consisting of maybe seven choices. Since this was a lunch date, we did not want a full blown seven course meal and opted to go somewhere else. I still enjoy Benihana's, but will never do another holiday if this is going to be the norm.
